- From an entrance door inside St. Peter's Basilica, you can visit the Treasury Museum, which features ornate gifts to kings and princes, including a heavily jeweled Papal Tiara. In the main room is the bronze funerary monument to Pope Sixtus IV-the Sistine Chapel was named after him. Underneath the main floor of St. Peter's Basilica is the Vatican Grottoes (not to be confused with the Necropolis which is even lower), containing several tombs of Popes. Both are very interesting and are highly recommended to visit after you see the main attractions in St. Peter's Basilica.

Here someone is the grave of the Bulgarian King Peter. We Bulgarians dont know's where is it but i found one book that write he's grave is in the vatican.He become the head of the church. Spouse and I just got to tour through the Vatican Treasury Museum this past November. I loved it and I personally thought it was much better and more interesting than the Vatican Museums were, even with all their famous artwork, that one really needs to be a learned student of art history to really understand and appreciate.

You have to get special permission from the Vatican in order to visit ST. Peter's Tomb. It is under the Papal Tombs. I will be visiting St. Peter's Tomb the December.

Sorry about that, but you can always hit pause, which is not ideal, but it helps. In general, many of my older videos did not have the graphics up long enough, but in the past couple of years or so, I have corrected this.

I did not get to see them when i was there. I payed a lot of money to have a tour of all the vatican, trust me it was a rip off. I missed so much because we were not informed of being able to view all of this. Thank youfor this video
You're welcome. My girlfriend and I were on a tour of the Vatican when we lost our tour group and guide right before the tour started, so we ended up just seeing things on our won. Defintitely gave us more independence to see things at our pace but we did miss the history being explained by the guide.

The art at the Vatican museums is a world wide heritage kept in trust for everyone. Sorry but I don't see the loss of our own history as somehow noble or beneficial.
