BRUTALLY HONEST | Economy Class on Air France's AIRBUS A350-900 from Toronto to Paris CDG!

- To me, Air France is one of Europe's most-underrated airlines, as visible on this flight. The only bothersome part of the trip is Charles De Gaulles Airport.

Not that I don’t like business class/first seat class reviews/experiences but there’s certainly no dearth of them on RUclips. If anything more of these videos about economy class are needed on RUclips since that’s what most people will/would travel.
It's true.
Completely agreed
Indeed
So many / 🤣
I 100% agree, but I also think that first/business class reviews are entertains for me. Not that economy class reviews are boring, though.
I flew on this exact same route in December except from Paris to Toronto, honestly I found the whole experience rather pleasant and significantly better than say Lufthansa or KLM.
Appreciate that comment. Will choose Air France.
This is the best RUclips channel to watch on a Friday morning
Or afternoon i suppose......
Why is not every friday night?🤔🤔 Maybe I think is time reversal!
It’s Saturday morning 12:59 am so technically Friday night for me
A few precisions that may answer some questions:
The USB port will maintain the charge but not actually charge power, sadly, so this absence of a power outlet is indeed a problem, the good news is that the Y cabin is currently being refitted;
AF normally does have a pre dinner drinks service, for any flight taking off before 10pm, with salty snacks, but this has been removed during COVID and is soon to be reintroduced, in addition to tea and coffee AF also provides a VERY GOOD hot choc, you can also have cappuccinos or camomille and verbena.
Thanks for your honest report!
@jetaddicted going in Feb '23, now i cannot WAIT for the hot chocolate omg hahaha
I flew Air France long time ago which was a very good flight.
I have been flying with Air France since I was a child, and I have experience it for like 6 years and it’s honestly such an amazing airline I love it
Great Video as always! However, the "coat-hook" isn't meant to be a coat hook actually, it's a thing to hang the provided headphones they give so that they don't get lost somewhere deep in the seatback pocket when you sleep.
Question: For the aisle seats (on the window block and the middle block) on these A350s, are there any entertainment boxes underneath the seats? On some Airbuses, these can partially occlude leg room.
Thanks for another great video review!
I flew FRA-CDG-SIN on Air France two weeks ago and SIN-AMS-STR on the way back with KLM. I agree with 99% of what you said, the food was great, presentation was awesome, cabin product was fairly well thought through and all in all it was a pleasant experience but there was that something missing that makes a good flight great. Most importantly for me I'd have liked the crew be more attentive (like offer more than only one drink service aside from the meals on 13 hrs of flying), I really hope that's just a COVID thing because now that Lufthansa slashed their service AFKLM looks like my most likely replacement for a Full Service Carrier.
It is indeed a COVID thing, the service is now almost back to normal, with water passages, and a free service soft drinks bar at the galley.
Wine and Champagne also remain free.
Regards from an AF cabin crew 😄🤚
@@jetaddicted Hey i have a question, for the self-service snack bar, can we get the snacks anytime we want?
Yeah never enough to drink, I always ask for water in addition to the drink so a bit better
I flew Air France in 2018 from Paris to LAX on their A380. Even though the plane was older at the time, but the service was very good and the food was excellent. They even had ice cream for snacks!
Air France's economy meal was the best 20-30 years ago, two rounds of cocktails before dinner was a norm.
Champagne through out the whole flight even in economy class, the meal tray was so big, it covered the whole folding table.
There was appetizer/salad/main/fruit or desert/cheese and warm baguette, not those tiny pieces of pigeon feed in this video.
Those were the days. Thanks for refreshing my memories of Air France.
Excellent review. Yes, CDG is very frustrating, always long lines. Unbelievable that they don't have charging ports on the economy seats. That's unacceptable in today's world.
I love that Air France jump right into the service. I think more airlines should do it. Get the service out the way and everyone can relax. The breakfast bag was the cutest thing.
Would love to see a more recent Brutally Honest on Air Canada's economy class!
Absolutely love your content!
Agreed about CDG's nightmare passport control between 2E and the rest: even I, being French, try to take longer layovers in order to avoid a missed flight ! I usually do YUL-CDG-MRS with Air France, unless there's a direct YUL-MRS flight with Air Transat !
You guys are killing it with content as aways!!! Best av channel on YT!!!
We flew Air France from Boston to CDG in May 2023. Heinous. When guy in front of me reclined, I couldnt even itch my ankle or get anything from bag without rolling out into aisle first. Upgraded to United business class returning from Nice. Super excellent!
Great review, thanks. How noisy was the plane from your window seat? A350s are reputedly quite quiet in flight vs Boeing 787/777s and other Airbuses like A330. cheers
I flew AF Economy from CDG-MIA last month on the 777. I stayed at the Hilton CDG hotel, so I only had two stops on the transit train to check in for my flight. I was already at the airport, checked in through the app, and it still took nearly TWO hours from bag drop to the gate, and arrived just as they were boarding Group 3. They are seriously short-staffed at the customs and security screening checkpoints, and didn't seem to be in much of a hurry to process passengers. I would *STRONGLY* recommend that you allow at least 2.5 hours curbside-boarding if you don't plan on going to a lounge, and even more than that otherwise.
This review pretty much summarizes the same experience on the 777, except that we had the power ports. I didn't use them as the USB plugs were sufficient, but they were there. This was my first trip flying AF (going and coming), and it made me a fan of the airline. A lot more character and panache than US airlines, and the food quality/presentation is actually something to appreciate.
How long was your flight? I am considering this airline to fly to maldives economy one way and I wanted to be comfortable
When I saw this Air France A350-900, I saw the area super comfortable, keep it up @Simply Aviation.
Including the review about the airports passport control was the dealbreaker for me! Thank you so much for this review! IT ACTUALLY HELPED❤
Thank you for helpful information, especially about transfers in CDG! 😉 Video was nice. Frequency of releasing videos perfect, last few months. Have a nice day, guys!
Great video. Are they strict with the checked bag and carry on weight. Would they allow 1-2kg over. How was the customer service?
Thx for this again awesome brutally honest trip report. What a nice aircraft. Only one thing I am not convinced of totally is the breakfast bag: in terms of size of the breadroll and the effect on the environment (so much plastic ... ). Even if the Lufthansa breaktfast might look poor, they at least try reusable boxes!
Keep on the good work...
Air France has improved so much recently. Like you it's an airline that makes me very enthusiastic to fly with, while just five years ago I would be indifferent. The lack of power outlet is a huge disadvantage I agree. And as for CDG, while it is true that its border control is truly awful sometimes, I feel a lot of people are unfair. Apart from Terminal 1 maybe, I find it alright, or even an enjoyable experience for Terminals 2F and 2E (K, L, M).
Can't wait to try their A350s!!
Terminal 1 is currently closed. Possibly renovating?
@@joebloggs7425 Yes it is under renovation at the moment, it should start reopening by the end of the year
I flew Air france on a 11 hour flight to Cancun. They offered a Snack Service, but the french touch was increadible
Flew out of of Lyon Saint Euxpiery recently, had a very similar experience when leaving the airport back to london, only had 2 passport control officers, literally everyone was late before boarding the plane which they kept back luckily
Great review and flight on Skyteam Airlines round trip between Europe and Canada
Great video. Thanks for sharing. What were you seat?
I totally agree to your comments to AF. And I also had the problems with a 1:15 connection time at CDG. With also only 4 open counters at immigration, nearly 20min. waiting time onboard the a/c until the bridge docked and a bit so good experience at the service desk. And the reason for all this bad ground-experience after a very pleasant flight was the "unexpected" Covid-pandemic. Thats what AF said. Oh, all this happened in January 2022 ;)
You compare it with LH. Yes, the board-product is very German - but the ground-experience is much better, especially if you have to transfer.
Gr8 vid again, thanks for showing...
Bonjour, i'm french thank you so much for this video on our national company !!!
Just out of curiosity as a person with severe cat allergies have you noticed on this flight or previous Air France transatlantic flights if there were many in cabin animals on board? I'm hesitant to purchase a ticket for this reason.
My favorite trip report channel. 1 hour ago! Nice video btw
Great video. Same thoughts here. Would be great to fly AF more - and economy service looks very good. But since it means dealing with CDG, most of the time I'll take another airline. Some have said this is due to Covid-era staff shortages but sorry to say, CDG has always been a nightmare to transit through for years. Under-staffing immigration is the norm, and seems almost intentional. And the fact that most or all of the e-gates are broken every time you pass through there says a lot about the operation they're running there. I'd say "hopefully they get their act together" but I know they never will 😂
How about a trip report from pristina to Paris cdg
And another one from Budapest to skopje
Love KLM and Air France ❤
For my opinion, a snack service prior the main meal service on a night flight is not necessary, considering that most of the passengers would like to get a quick meal service and then a couple of hours of sleep. I flew with Emirates from Hamburg to Dubai and they handeled it that way, serving the salty snack around two hours before landing
thewalfly - I suspect people don't mean a 'snack'' service prior to the main meal but a drinks service with a small bag of nuts before the main meal. Most companies do this, and Air France used to when we've flown with them before.
can you plug in your own analog headphones into the 3.5mm jack when using the entertainment system?
Best video ever, continue doing other videos! 😊
I'd like to inform you:
When I flew Air France on their A350 from SCL to CDG, they had a sandwich with melted cheese and tomato, and it was HOT.
Probably because it the flight to around 12-14 hours, but not all have cold snack boxes.
Anyway, ive been waiting for this video for almost half a year and its finally here!
Im looking forward to next week's video already!
Hey, on long hauls, meals are cooked by local food chains. The food is always better when you leave from Paris ! (no offence)
@@tripple7W
I know, but I didnt say it was bad, im saying it was nice and hot, and not cold like in the tripreport.
And it was from the breakfast box before landing, so they had a hot meal earlier.
Hi, great video! I am curious to know if the snack bar for economy class at the back still provides free champagne? I travelled with them on a 13 hour flight (pre pandemic) and was very pleasantly surprised to note that they did. ;)
Is this regular economy as in the cheapest ticket?? Going TOR to PAR in June and trying to decide economy vs. premium economy...
i flew airfrance in dec 2023, a long-haul 13hr flight, scl-cdg and i was impressed that there was no ammenity kit for economy.
Air France is the 1st Airline I check.whenever I flew to Europe from LAX, their food is usually better than US carriers, flight attendants are not bubbly or look excited, but never rude to me. CDG is a pain but ive gotten used to it.
what is with the euro carriers and no personal air vents at the seats on long haul planes?
There is staff shortages at a lot of airports in Europe lately. That's the reason they had so little passport control open. Doesn't have to do anything with the airport itself
Are the seats reclinable in the exit row?
this gives me decent idea on what to expect on a flight I will be taking later this year with AF's newest Canadian Destination the CDG.
Great video! It's quite surprising that they didn't go for the universal power outlet though I'm assuming most people simply recharge their phone with USB port and won't mind. For CDG, while the jetbridge is unlucky, the customs is infuriating. I'm French and go through CDG and Orly customs a lot, and systematically the egates are not open, and they put minimum staff to control passports. Even in T2B which has been newly refurbished, some of the gates were marked as "out of order", how does that happen when they have never been "in order" and used in the first place? ... According to Air France and Aéroports de Paris the blame is on the interior ministry which I wouldn't be surprised about. Imo it's just the most annoying single thing that happens every time and gets everyone mad.
Nice video! 👌
Good to hear that you like the food, because I work for their catering partner, Newrest at YYZ.
oh and if you could do a video on smart wings thenks😀 oh and by the way when do you poast the Bruthly honest videos??
Are the self-service snacks free? I have never flown transatlantic before
Hmmm… strange but I saw other youtube videos that show airfrance economy cabins that do have usb connection ports … but great info on your video, thank you kindly for posting. I will be flying airfrance in mid September
Wow David So cool! I love All Airlines I hope keep safe From COVID-19!
Thank you for this video :)
Nice video. Do you have video of Paris Toronto flight ?
Thanks for the ride !!!
So after a looong time finally I watched a video of your channel, wow I love the "new" brutally honest videos and its nice to see that you kept your "old" Outro and Intro Music, its kind of nostalgic to hear it ^^. Can´t wait for more videos. Greetings from an old subscriber, maybe you remember me from your old videos (joined your channel around 6 years ago ^^)
This really is excellent quality video.
Love your video ❤
Quite a good standard overall, but still have some room for improvement. They still fall a bit short compared to some Middle Eastern and Asian carriers for the same flight duration. Having no universal power port is unforgivable on a long-haul flight in this day and age. The pillow cushion covers very nice. Some nice french touches. Overall, I would be happy with the service on this flight.
Hi, do they serve hard liquor ?
Could you review aer lingas?
The hook on the screen is not meant for your coat...it's for the headphones when you get out of your seat. I've seen on their previous promotional video...they specifically put the hook there for headphones...
how can we get snack? did we go directly to cabin crew?
Nice review. I wish you gave your opinion on the comfort (or discomfort) of your seat. Did you find it narrow or too hard or too soft? Was the recline sufficient? If the person in front of you reclined, was there still adequate room for you without feeling trapped? Also what was the quality of the service of the flight attendants? These additional commentaries would make this a great review! Thank you!
la meilleure securite de moi 🎶🎶🎵🎵j'aime cette compagnie d'avion
Hi, i fly with airfrance a lot, so i will answer to your questions if youre still curious. The seats are comfortable, but even for me that im a quite petite person ( 1.62 cm and 56 kg) i found them a bit narrow and that makes it a bit hard to go to the bathroom if youre in a window or middle seat, because there isnt a lot of space between your legs(still enough to not touch eachother), but still okay. I dont like reclining my seat, but the time i tried it, its efficient and easy to do, not like in other planes when its a bit harder, they also recline kind of a lot, thankfully you can move your screen so that you can still watch comfortably, and there is enough space to stand up and go to the bathroom for example if your an average sized person. Lastly, i find the flight attendants to be incredibly nice, great service, they can even give you a chat if they find you distressed for like turbulence or other things (they did it to me), and i have only heard great comments about them. Overall the seats are comfortable and the service is great, 10/10.
Hi! When will you make a trip report on board ITA Airways?
I flew 2 weeks ago through CDG and passport control was still a mess. More than 1 hour to go through it to get the next connection flight. Take enough time when buying the tickets.
Layovers in Paris are the worst, almost missed a flight home a few years ago mainly because we had no idea where we going and also because our inbound was delayed. It was the first time that we ever had to run to a gate but somehow we made the flight.
Absolutely fantastic video David and I agree that AF is good and that CDG sucks!😸
I wonder if their service plan skips the drink & snack before the meal because it’s a relatively short night flight?
Where i can get the breakfast box in the plane?
The yogurt drink slowly trying to escape at the end was so funny
I've never flown on Air France before but I would love to try it out someday when I do I'm going to sit in business class
My best fav airline! 💕
I think it's the best.. for me the best safety video it's for MEA
I might be going to Paris
Ur right.u must take atleast 2 hrs flight change time in Charles de gull.must.
Thats not a coat hook fyi, its to hang your earphone cord out of the way if youre stepping out to use the restroom or just moving them out of the way..
I am glad that you started to talk instead of subtitles 🤗
I can understand your complaint about universal outlets as I think Virgin have done the same in Eco in thier A350s and as you’ve say, people do actually work whilst flying, as for the complaints about the food, it’s only a 7hr or so flight and so I can think a lot people just want to get some sleep before arrival in Paris and you can only do so much in that relative short time. I’m afraid French never been most organised, surprised more people didn’t complain.
We'll be on the 350-900 from Singapore to Paris next week with 2 toddlers and I'm hoping it's gonna be as good as that
The pillow is very catchy
I love Air France! I've always been offered an aperitif before the main meal.
F-HTYA is the first-ever A350 of Air France and the oldest, too
after amazingly terrible exp for a air france flight from HKG TO CDG several years ago I can easily say no to my second ever AFR flight, yet still happy to see sb try it lol
love the a350,and the cam liket very much
do they handout any amenity kit? at least Socks etc?
Not in Economy Class unfortunately...
@@simply_aviation good to know. I’ll take flight to opposite direction so I’ll bring some stuff with me :) much appreciated
Nice to see that some legacy European airlines still care about their passenger experience. It's unfortunate there was no universal power outlet on this aircraft. Also, given the high quality snacks offered throughout the flight, the initial cold snack/drink omission before the mail meal is hardly a deal breaker.
That said, really enjoyed your presentation. Thanks.
That Air France meal looked so good ahaha
How were 45 duo seats?
Hey David I thought your flight was Tahiti to Paris
Actually, the salty snack is just skipped on night transatlantic flights back to Europe. On a daily flight on the opposite direction, you have the drinks and snack service (with Champagne) before the main meal :)
Thanks for your review. Yes I also miss the snacks and champagne aperitive in economy class before the meal. The breakfast is quiet basic :(
Yes you are right. CDG is a complete nightmare. The passport controls, the baggage delivery. Terrible.
What a great rhyme you just said at 6:45 ! “After dinner the crew offered tea or coffee, so now it’s time to get cozy for a movie!” Made me smile during this excellent #BrutallyHonest Review that Simply Aviation produces! Great work! 😂 🎉
Historically transfer in CDG are super long, not efficient in passport controls at all, not just now, pre-pandemic was exactly the same. Good airline bad airport. Thanks for Your nice videos!
Arrival as non US at Dulles there are never enough police at immigration and it can take nearly 2 hours
Thank you, Merci bouque...(i hope i wrote it right).
Lack of power outlet is honestly a deal breaker for me. Luckily, I was able to change my a350 + a350 flight to a 787 + 777 combo.
