I'm a Shia and i really appreciate Dr. Ally's fair treatment of the subject. I'm so tired of hearing uneducated people claim that Shias were founded by Abdullah ibn Saba' and all this other nonsense. He is very objective in his response and very kind in extending his hand towards Shias to work towards the common good. May Allah SWT reward him.

Brother we like to come together. But there are some people who consider themselves Shia curse the companions and curse our mother Aisha .
Not only that they call oh Ali instead of Allah.
How do plan to fix them?

    • @AbeAlJ
      @AbeAlJ 2 года назад +3

@@talalal-fahmi5746 I don't plan on fixing them, I plan on fixing you. Learn to tolerate religious differences and differences of opinion. In the West, we have Muslims living side by side with atheists, jews and christians, yet the Shia who fulfill all of the pillars of Islam, have the same Qiblah etc, are so radically different that you can't work with them? Also, tawassul is not a sunni-shia issue, it's a salafi vs everyone else issue.

    • @talalal-fahmi5746
      @talalal-fahmi5746 2 года назад +1

@@AbeAlJ you know they are wrong . So it's OK to curse the companions of the prophet ? It's OK to curse the wives of the prophet? Also there's a difference between tawasul and what we see some Shias do . And if I ask some Shias what are the five pillars of Islam they won't say it like other Muslims
They would say al wilayah not Haj . . All the Muslims don't have this exempt Shias.
You hate salafies why ? Give me a good reason. They follow the Quran and the othintec hadeth.

    • @AbeAlJ
      @AbeAlJ 2 года назад +1

@@talalal-fahmi5746 "And if I ask some Shias what are the five pillars of Islam they won't say it like other Muslims "
That is simply a difference in name or classification. Shias say the 5 usool of Islam are tawheed, adalah, nubuwwah, imamah and qiyamah. These are aqaa'id or beliefs. Shias say the furoo' are: salaat, sawm, hajj, zakaat, khums, jihad, amr bil maroof, nahi an al-munkar, tawalaa, tabaraa. Every Muslim agrees on the wujoob of these acts. As for the Shahadatayn, even if it is not listed here, shias also believe that is what enters one into Islam and shias say it in every salat.
I don't hate all salafis, but I find they tend to be the most aggressive, vitriolic, and unjust group towards their opponents and also the dumbest. They do not follow the sunnah because the sunnah is "I was sent to perfect moral character."

    • @talalal-fahmi5746
      @talalal-fahmi5746 2 года назад

@@AbeAlJ all the five pillars are in the Quran even Jihad and khumus except Imamah it's not there . Also they curse the wives of the prophet and they curse the companions. There's also many biddah they do .
You don't talk about these wrong doings and you just say that salafis are herd on them ?
The salafis always speak with evidence from the Quran and the authentic hadeth. If you really want to know who's ignorant then they are the ones who curse the companions and the wives of the prophet and the one who innovate in Islam like some Shias . Not all Shias are like that but most of who are known.

I even feel closer to a few of them more than I do to my Shia friends. Shia and Sunni are very similar in fundamental principles. I wonder why some people try to accentuate the differences rather than the commonalities. Even the siblings born to the same parents think differently. Why should we expect everyone to think alike?

He mainly focused on the "political" divide between Sunni and Shi'a and he failed to go in depth of the religious divide/differences such the unforgivable amount of shirk and and negative bid'ah which has arisen from the Shi'a side.

This is a question for Dr. Shabir Ally. if you read Quran itself and what Allah ordered then we should be MUSLIMS ONLY. Any sectarian in Islam is prohibited and will have (Great Punishment) as Allah said Himself. So WHY you don't tell the people the TRUTH which Allah ordered you to tell the people? These are Allah's orders and I'm waiting for your answer. Thank you:
Quran 6:159 Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything.
Quran 30:31-32 do not be of those who associate others with Allah. Of those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction rejoicing in what it has.
Quran 3:105 And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
Quran 3:19 Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah , then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account.

Shia today has nothing to do with Islam. They committee shirk in their practice, and most of their practice have no thing to do with Islam. Yes at the beginning it was political matter, but eventually has become a different religion has no thing to with Islam. What Shia almost believe about Ali is the same Christians belief about Jesus. Moreover, they have no traditions or sayings for prophet Muhammad, and some of their scholar do not believe in Quran as authentic book because they think Quran has been corrupted by prophet's companions! Therfore, Shia today has nothing to do with Islam.

The Quran offers us a more detailed understanding of Where (and Who) Allah is.

"Certainly your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six yaum (days or periods of time), and then He Istawa (rose above) the Throne. He brings the night as a cover over the day rapidly, and the sun, the moon, the stars subject to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and the Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the universe!"
      [Noble Quran 7:54]

"Indeed, your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six yaum (days or periods of time), and then He Istawa (rose above), the Throne, disposing the affair of everything. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except by His Permission. This is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Won't you then remember?"
      [Noble Quran 10:3]

"It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He Istawa (rose above) the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain."
      [Noble Quran 13:2]

Who created the heavens and the earth in six yaum (days or periods of time), and then He Istawa (rose above) the Throne. The Most Beneficent! Ask Him, as He is Al-Khabir (The All-Knower of everything).
      [Noble Quran 25:59]

Who created the heavens and the earth in six yaum (days or periods of time), and then He Istawa (rose above) the Throne. You (mankind) have none, besides Him, as a Wali (protector or helper etc.) or an intercessor. Won't you then remember (accepting admonishment)?
      [Noble Quran 32:4]

And indeed We (Allah uses the word "We" in the royal sense like the king who says, "We decree the following...", this is not in the plural) created the heavens and the earth and everything in between in six days and fatigue never touched Us (again, this is the royal "Us" not plural).
      [Noble Quran 50:38]

He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six yaum (days or periods of time), and then He Istawa (rose above) the Throne. He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the heaven and what ascends up to it. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) where so ever you may be. And Allah is the All-Seer of what you do.
      [Noble Quran 57:4]
We observe from these statements a very logical approach to understanding the nature of God without comparing Him to creation or putting Him in His creation.

There are also massive theological differences between us.
Number one twlevers do not believe in predestination.
Within their books they grant almost god like qualities to their imams.
They use people who have passed away dead people ie the great imams as a intercessor between them and god and ask them to speak to god on their behalf.
I was going to be shia I've seen it myself.
All I could hear in my head as I saw this was you alone we worship you alone we ask for help.

brother youtube 'how Islam was corrupted' it exposes the 'sunni' religion which claims Allah (SWT) has a body with fingers and shins as said in their 'sahih' Muslim and Bukhari. To answer your question, the main difference between 'sunni' and Shia is that we curse the killers of Fatima al-Zahra (as) while they praise them, what Umar and Abu Bakr (la) did to Fatima al-Zahra (as) is in their own books.

IDK if this relates to the subject at hand. There is a gesture I have seen fellow Muslims do at the end of their prayers. Apparently they blow on their hands and pass both hands over the head and down their beards. I have not found this gesture referenced or mentioned anywhere. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it a gesture unique to Sunni or Shia?

Your question can be answer by another. What was Ali behavior when the Sahabahs took from him the right to lead the muslims?? He simply accepted it as long as it was for the good of a United Islam and its extension and Good Shias will do the same and respect the Sahabahs. Any one telling you something else doesn't understand shiism. And just like we have "bad" shias, there are bad "sunnis". Why don't you get it? Now question: What do you celebrate on the 10th of Muharam?

This is like a fundamental aspect of our Deen. Umar (ra) had such a status in the Prophet's sight that he claimed that had there been a Prophet after him it'd have been Umar. The differences are like Shabir Ally says political, more so than interpretive. They have to do with dynasties, etc. Kitab ul Kafi and Bukhari/Muslim are even for the most part identical. These differences should not be so relevant today. They should be like how one Sunni or Shi'a has a different madhab from another. There are so many Sunnis that I love and respect, that I can't let something mideaval like that prevent me from loving someone who has good and solid character.

The question isn’t “did some people believe Ali RA should have been the next caliph”. The question should be “Did Ali RA himself believe he should have been the next caliph”? Why didn’t he just give bai’ah to Abu Bakr in the beginning? I am a Sunni Muslim but none of the Sunni Muslim scholars have given me a satisfactory answer on this? I believe I have been brought up with the wrong narrative about shia Muslims. We have been told that shia Muslims are those who believe Ali RA as the final messenger of Allah. The real reason behind the conflict of shia and Sunni has never been told us.
Also, my cousin who is a scholar living in Saudi Arabia has stopped talking to me after we had a conversation about sunni vs shia. He believes that I have astrayed somehow for having these questions and he couldn’t give me a straight answer to my questions except that there’s a hadith which says that prophet SAW said there’d be 73 sects and only one of them will be going to heaven. And that sect is somehow sunni and if I’m not following the Sunni sect I’m going to hell.

The point is who are we to ask questions on the internal matter of sahaba...
When علی ra accepted the bayah and after that he accepted the 3 caliph and from hadith it is clear that he respected the companions and the caliph then why put emphasis on an event on which Ali ra himself didn't put any emphasis??
So Shiaism is not Islam the 12 infallible Imams belief of Shiaism is no where mention in the quran... Yet its there main aqeedah in their books most famous in Al kafi that there are 12 infallible imams who knows everything
.. Now, everyone knows that even prophets don't know the future unless ALLAH tells them through revelation etc so how can Imams know everything etc..
Then Shia curse the sahaba امیر معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ
Yet imam hasan according to Shia imam حسن رضی اللہ عنہ was infallible imam yet he did peace treaty with ameer muaviya ra...
And Shiaism views on mutah marriage and further more etc Shiaism deviant views etc...
You should study them if your sunni and confused ..

    • @shuhanaseer4594

Islamic message it’s not an internal matter if it divided the whole of ummah.
I’m not a Shia and neither do I curse any of the sahabas. I don’t care about the infallible imams either.
My question is very simple. Did Ali RA believe he should have been the first caliph or not? If yes, then why was he voted out? And what was the reason he didn’t give bai’ah to Abu Bakr RA.
Let’s say that the matter was resolved after he gave bai’ah to Abu Bakr. But then, after the assassination of Usman RA, did not Mu’awiya assassinate so many sahabas and took so many innocent lives when he rebelled against Ali RA? How can you not talk about the assassination of Hassan RA? and Hussain RA? They are the grand sons of prophet SAW! How can you resolve the issues between Sunni and Shia while you guys are scared to speak out the truth? All I’m asking is for Shia and Sunni, to speak out the truth! Because truth matters to Allah!

The answer of shik Shabir is diplomatic.
We have to understand our religion first before saying who is doing right and who is doing wrong. Shiaats sometimes curse close companions to the prophets ( the carrier of the religion) for whom verses are revealed to show their supreme position. They base their "religion" on non authenticated narrations and mis-interpretations of the Quran texts. This so obvious.

      Surah At-Tahrim
In the name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.
O Prophet! Why bannest thou that which Allah hath made lawful for thee, seeking to please thy wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (1) Allah hath made lawful for you (Muslims) absolution from your oaths (of such a kind), and Allah is your Protector. He is the Knower, the Wise. (2) When the Prophet confided a fact unto one of his wives and when she afterward divulged it and Allah apprised him thereof, he made known (to her) part thereof and passed over part. And when he told it her she said: Who hath told thee? He said: The Knower, the Aware hath told me. (3) If ye twain turn unto Allah repentant, (ye have cause to do so) for your hearts desired (the ban); and if ye aid one another against him (Muhammad) then lo! Allah, even He, is his Protecting Friend, and Gabriel and the righteous among the believers; and furthermore the angels are his helpers. (4) It may happen that his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your stead wives better than you, submissive (to Allah), believing, pious, penitent, devout, inclined to fasting, widows and maids. (5)
Most people neither read the Quran AND its tafseer nor enough history which is why there is so much confusion about these issues.

Jesus administrative life was only three year, that means he was only in the public arena from the age of 30 to 33. He did not speak like a politician, only a few word were enough, but his actions did the rest, he was sinless, he healed the sick, he gave the blind sight and the culmination to willingly lay down his life as a ransom for the sins of mankind and then rose again on the third day and will come back to judge the living and the dead. His action spoke louder than words.

It is silly to be caught up in these ethnicity based in-fights.Instead, any disputes concerning religion or history should be deferred to the Day of Judgment (if you're believers),&efforts should be made towards peaceful cooperation and mutual support against more hostile and dangerous enemies. Various religious views should be considered schools of thought and again kept as personal issues with neither group flinging public insults towards any school of thought, awaiting resolution at Judgment.

"Now there was about this time, Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, - a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ; and when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to

Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.

Not only was it a custom in the Arab society to engage / marry a young girl , it was also common in the Jewish society . The case of Mary the mother of Jesus comes to mind , in non biblical sources , she was between 11-14 years old when she conceived Jesus . Mary had already been " BETROTHED " to Joseph before conceiving Jesus . Joseph was a much older man . There4 Mary was younger than 11-14 years of age when she was "BETROTHED " to Joseph .

The discussion concerning such a topic is very extensive and this answer cannot incorporate all the details. We shall briefly mention, in two stages (e.g. beliefs and laws), those of the Shiite views which are opposed by Sunnis or a group of them:
    A) Beliefs and Tenets of Shiite Religion:
    1. Although Tawhid (oneness of God) is a principle common between the Shiite and Sunnit schools of thought, Shia believes that God’s attributes are the same as His Essence. (See in this regard: The Mu’tazilite Principles of Faith, question 8864 (site: 8811) ; Types and Degrees of Monotheism, question 1913 (site: 3445) ).
    2. According to Shia, God cannot be seen in this world nor can He be seen in the Hereafter. See (Shia and Sunni on Seeing God, question 8408 (site: 8477) ; God cannot be seen as explicitly denoted by verse 54 of Chapter al-Baqarah, question 6477 (site:8498) ; Seeing God, question 5621 (site: 7911))
    3. Unlike the Sunnis, Shia holds that it is not permissible on God’s part to punish an obedient and give rewards to a sinner. (In this regard, see: Justice according to Shia and Mu’tazilah No. 5923 (site: 6122) ).
    4. Shia does not believe in determinism and compulsion. (In this regard, see: Man and Freedom, question 51 (site:287) ; God’s Foreknowledge and Man’s Free-will, question 2084 site: 2135) ; Man, Predestination and Free-will, question 1896 (site: 2718) ; Determinism and Free-will, question 2035 (site:2085) ; Rejection of Determinists’ Arguments, 528 (site: 576) ; The Concept of al-Amr bayn al-Amrayn, question 58 (site: 294) and also numbers: 1221 (site1217) and 130 (site:1237) and 1550 (site: 1570) and 2035 (site: 2085) ).
    5. The most important Shiite belief is the belief in Imamate. Shia holds that Imamate is a part of the fundamentals of faith and the successor of the Prophet must be inerrant and infallible and it is precisely because of infallibility, which is known by none other than God, that the imam (leader) after the Prophet should be appointed by God and that the Islamic governments should lead to Wilayah.
    6. Obeying an oppressive and unjust sovereign is not permissible according to Shia.
    7. Shia believes that Ahlulbayt in verse 33 of Chapter al-Ahzab refers to Fatima (daughter of the Holy Prophet (pbuh)) and the pure Imams (a.s.).
    8. Shia is of the view that the prophets are infallible. They do not commit any sin, whether capital or minor.
    9. Bada, Raj’at (return) and intercession are also some of the Shiite beliefs. For further information, see: Bada, Tablet, Book, question 65 (site: 306) ; Raj’at (Return) and Its Features); question 5774 (site: 6014) and 3006 (site: 3578) ; The Return of Prophets, Imams, question 5884 (site: 8995)).
    10. Shia does not consider all the companions of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) as just. There were different types of people amongst the companions. Some were just and some were hypocrites. Their fatwa (verdict) are not authoritative and valid for anyone. For further reading vide: Justice of All the Companions, question 5920 (site: 6136)).
    B) Laws:
    1. Taqiyah (dissimulation) is permissible according to Shia. For more details see: Tarawih Prayers and Taqiyah, question 7286 (site: 7804) ; Reasons behind Taqiyah of the Imams (a.s.) question No. 1779 (site: 2132) ; question 3022 (site: 4099) .
    2. Mut’ah (Fixed-time marriage) is permissible according to Shiite viewpoint. For further explanation, see: A Study of the Ahadith (Traditions) on Mut’ah, question 3320 (site: 4098) ; Fixed-time Marriage and Peacefulness, No. 2925 (site: 3130) ; Fixed-time marriage in the Quran and Sira of the Infallibles No.6146 (site: 6348).
    3. The gate of Ijtihad is open according to Shia.
    4. Shia does not accept ta’sib and awl [1] in inheritance.
    5. According to Shia, combining between two prayers is permissible. For further explanation, see: The Sira of the Prophet and the Imams in combining between Zuhr and Asr prayers, 9346 (site: 9329).
    6. “Hayya ‘ala Khayril ‘Amal” (Hasten to the best acts) is a part of the Adhan.
    7. It is permissible to visit the Infallible Imams’ graves (we believe that not only visiting graves is not shirk (idolatrous) but it is very much a monotheistic act and there is a lot of reward in it.). For further explanation, you can refer to the following answers on our website: “The Differences and Commonalties between Shia and Sunni Schools of Thought on Mahism, question 1425 (site: 1708) ; Particulars and Features of Shia, question 4942 (site: 9686); and also books written in this regard including: Al-Jawame’ wal-Fawareq bayn al-Sunnah wa al-Shia by Muhammad Jawad Mughniyah; Ma’a al-Shia al-Imamiyah fi Aqaedehim, by Ayatollah Ja’far Subhani, Islamic Beliefs in the Light of the School of Ahlalbayt by Ayatollah Ja’far Subhani.
[1] - The principle of 'awl (proportionate reduction) is applied by Sunni jurists when the estate of the deceased is 'oversubscribed' by Quranic heirs. Ta'sib is applied by Sunni jurisprudence to give priority to male agnates as heirs, and this results in many mathematical complexities in their system of inheritance. The only really significant difference between the Shi'ah and Sunni schools of jurisprudence in the laws of inheritance concerns the principles of "'awl" and "ta'sib". The Imamiyah jurisprudents have proved by means of ahadith from the Ahlu 'l-bayt (a.s.) that there is no 'awl or ta'sib in the matter of inheritance. This was also the opinion held by the great companions of the Holy Prophet. The well-known statement of Ibn 'Abbas in which he speaks against 'awl and ta'sib can be taken as authoritative. There are also other grounds of proof for negating these two principles.

Exactly. Allah protected Muhammad pbuh all his life, there is no way he would've let Abu Bakr (ra), Umar (ra) and Uthman (ra) near him if they were evil and plotting to steal the Caliphate. Astagfirullah. These people need to remember Ali (ra) named three of his sons after the first three caliphas.
