In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

The man at the audition that tells Marty they’re “just too darn loud “ is actually Huey Lewis, the singer of the song they’re playing, The power of love.
You beat me to it!! LOL
Lol...do people literally race to new reactions to Back to the Future just to post this?
@@normie2716 🤣🤣🤣
@@charleskentjr696 🤣🤣🤣
@@normie2716 What's amazing to me is that how 99% of the reactors don't know who Huey Lewis is.
It's fun to count how many "Lone Pine" comments or "Huey Lewis" comments after a BTTF reaction 😂
But not many people spot the break in the parapet made by Doc Brown in 1955 as the helicopter flies over the tower in 'alt 1985'.
Yeah LOL they make sure that indispensable information is in EVERY comment section 😂
Just what I was thinking!
Michael J. Fox actually broke his toe when he kicked the helmet
That's LITERALLY what I'm here to look at haha 😄 😂
Doc and Marty are basically Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty were designed after them.
Specifically the original pitch was a Doc and Marty show but Roiland couldn't get the rights. We got cheap knockoffs instead! 😂
yeah but Rick & Morty evolved from the really vile "Adventures of Doc & Mharti" that creepshow Justin Roiland made before, where 'Doc' forces 'Mharti' to perform sexual acts on him which Rick & Morty has made numerous references to (particularly when Rick says 'lick my balls"). Roiland has also stated an attraction to 14 yr olds, been sending sexual messages to minors online and got upset when people pointed out that is comment that "in some realities Rick and Morty are in a loving healthy relationship with each other" was pretty frickin' weird. Can we please not taint BttF with that?
Michael J. Fox wasn't told there was real alcohol in the flask. That’s why he spit it out.
They thought it would be funnier, and they were right.
Yeah he took a big swallow expecting water or something and got a BIG swig of booze lol
That was only in the blooper, I think. Must’ve been the first take.
Marvin Berry is the one in the climax band. He’s on the phone with his cousin. “You know that new sound you’re looking for?” Evidently, he’s talking to Chuck Berry, who would then sing Johnny B Goode three years later.
I get what they're doing in that scene... I just get nitpicky about it because by the time Chuck hears the song, its just Marty's hodgepodge of guitar soloists.
...and thereby invented Rock n Roll music. So, according to Back to the Future, Marty invented Rock n Roll, having brought it back with him from the future.
@@FrancisXLord Except the song Rocket 88 was recorded in 1951. It's considered to be the first Rock and Roll song.
Even Fats Domino's Ain't That a Shame predates Marty going back to 1955. Only by a few months though.
And we can't ever forget Sister rosetta Tharpe. She essentially taught Chuck Berry to Chuck Berry. Beginning in the 30s and 40s, she was the first recording artist to use heavy distortion on an electric guitar.
But I love back to the Future. And the school dance scene is just all in fun.
@@nellgwenn Yes, Chuck Berry and several others were already well on the way to pioneering rock 'n' roll by late '55. But it's still a fun little gag.
@@nellgwenn I did not know that. Now I wonder if Robert Zemeckis did, because I always read it as implying that Marty invented Rock n Roll, thus presumed Johnny B. Goode was the first. 'It's Marvin. Your cousin Marvin Berry! Do you know that new sound you're looking for? Well listen to this!' I presumed the 'new sound' to which he was referring was Rock n Roll. Was that presumption wrong? Or was it just generally presumed in popular culture that Chuck Berry invented Rock n Roll?
Back when this came out the whole theater cheered when George finally knocks Biff out! The movie was massively popular that summer.
I was 5 and it happened at our local theater, too. This, Jurassic Park, and Top Gun 2 were the only movies I've seen where people applauded at the end.
Nothing changed in the photo of Marty and his siblings. Doc was reacting to Marty's statement that he'd never seen his dad stand up to Biff before. When he heard that, Doc suspected George's newfound courage might change things in the future, but he didn't have the heart to voice his concerns to Marty -- or the time to do anything about it, for that matter.
Marty's line "yeah, well history is going to change" literally gives you the plot for the film.
The town square is actually at Universal Studios - it appears in a lot of films & TV - though the rest was shot all over Southern California (the mall is in West Covina, for instance).
The Mall is Puente Hills Mall in City of Industry
Sadly I believe that the clock tower burned down but I haven’t been on the studio tour in forever. I use to love seeing it since I loved this movie as a kid.
Clearly people who've already seen this film acting like they've never watched it before. They magically caught every obscure reference & Easter egg plot twist. 😂
I would guess that a majority of the reactors do that.
@@sjw4life546 No wonder, now it's just a business to satisfy the expectations of movie buffs.
Hard to say. I feel like I'm sensitive to people faking it, I'm sure they are. Definitely some people do that. Especially if they're been doing a channel for a long time.
The guy you recognized was Billy Zane who played Cal in Titanic ❤ plus Marty ran over one of the pines when he came out of the barn, hence Lone Pine Mall😂❤
Why wasn’t it called lone pines mall before we see Marty go back to 1955? We already see other instances of the predestination paradox in the film, implying that even before we see Marty go back to 1955, he’s already been there and caused things to happen because 1955 has already happened. For example, we see the predestination paradox in Marty giving Goldie the idea to run for mayor, Chuck berry getting Johnny b good from marty , and Lorraine getting the idea to name her son Marty from Marty, so why didn’t they go with the predestination paradox for the name of the mall as well)
@@josephsarto689because when we meet Marty and Doc time travel hadn't happened yet. It wasn't until 1985 that Marty goes back in time and changed the past
But when the film opens in 1985 Goldie wilson is mayor. Which means Marty has already been to 1955 and gave Goldie the idea to run for mayor. When the movie opens in 1985, the main character is named Marty, which means he’d already been back to 1955 to give his mom the idea to name him Marty.. How come in some instances Marty’s actions in 19555 fulfill history, but in Other instances his actions in 1955 change history?
@@josephsarto689 who's to say Goldie wasn't already gonna become mayor and Marty just got him thinking about it sooner.
Funny how doc talks about the missing hair in the photo but he's not surprised at such a high quality color photo. Color film and processing were very expensive in 1955.
Fun fact:
Billy Zane, who plays Caledon Hockley (Rose's fiancé) in Titanic, appears in this movie. He is one of the three members of Biff's posse. This was Zane's first movie role. He reprised the role in BTF 2.
It's funny you bring up *(the Karate Kid)* whose girlfriend is played by *Elisabeth shue* who replaces the actor who plays Marty's girlfriend in *(Back to the Future 2)*
Michael J Fox was filming this movie and a sitcom (Family Ties) at same time!
Heard he slept on the plane back and forth between those two gigs🤣
@SpontaneousAndStructured It was a car and his driver had to carry him to bed where he only slept a couple hours before starting the whole cycle over again. But yeah, grueling.
Great sitcom, he played a very different character
@@michaeljacyna1973 Yeah, it was a station wagon with a mattress in the back so Fox could grab precious moments of sleep. He filmed Family Ties during the day, and BTTF at night. You'll notice that a majority of Fox's scenes - which is most of the movie - take place at night.
1985 Michael J Fox had the #1 TV show in the USA. (Family Ties) In 1985 Michael J Fox had the #1 Movie in the USA. (Back to the Future) & in 1985 The #2 movie of that year was "Teen Wolf" an American coming-of-age comedy film starring... Michael J Fox
The mall's name changed to Lone Pine because when Marty went back to the 50s, he took out one of the twin pine trees on the farm land the future mall was built on. So it was originally Twin Pines Mall and it became Lone Pine Mall
Interesting! I love learning little tidbits like this!
@@KimC657 Tidbits? Tell me your American without telling me your American.
The FIRST "change" to Hill Valley you can see though is right as they get back the helicopter spotlight shows the broken ledge from when Doc almost fell off, the mall is the second (of ~150 by the end of the trilogy.)
@@daveofyorkshire301 you're*
@@TheBlarggle Well that changes everything doesn't it? Such a large contribution to the comments section.
Your instinct is to save someone about to be hit by a car, not think you won't be born if you don't.
Reactors are always squeamish about the mother liking her son, but they ignore that Marty is as squeamish as them.
💯
It went from Twin Pines to Lone Pine because Marty ran over one of the Pines when he broke out of Old man Peabody's garage at the beginning. You can here old man Peabody yelling " You space bastard", You killed my Pine!"
Michael J Fox can play the guitar!
not anymore :x
IIRC, from interviews I sw when the movies released, his playing was dubbed in the 1st movie (despite him being able to play), but the 2nd was really him.
These movies might just comprise one of the only perfect trilogies in movie history. This one sets up the universe perfectly and leaves you wanting more. The next 2 are a perfect continuation of the story, and you'll thoroughly enjoy all three as a single work. I guarantee it.
"He's like Kramer"....my God I love it
Christopher Lloyd was Kramer before Kramer existed .. look up a tv program called taxi
43:30 when Marty drives away from the barn as he is getting shot he runs over one of the two pine trees they were growing.
And because of that "Twin Pines Mall" changes to "Lone Pine Mall."
George was a peeping tom and Lorraine was an exhibionist, she was showing off in front of her window on purpose. Raging teenage hormones on both sides. She stole from her mother, drank, smoked, was experienced in parking with boys and she was also a stalker, all before she was 18 years old.
And removing an unconscious boys pants surely qualifies as sexual assult, no? Wow, Lorraine....
And notice how her father says, "Another one of these damn kids jumped in front of my car!" Lorraine must have been putting on shows for any boy who could climb a tree. This time, it just happened to be George's turn.
She just wanted him to sleep comfortably. Being unconscious with jeans on sucks.
@@michaeljacyna1973Lorraine took off Marty's pants to check for injuries and make him more comfortable. Stop trying to make excuse to evilize her.
@@user-nv8ds8wf6g Sure. "Check for injuries." 17 year old girl.
"Maybe you should get some more clocks" Oooh, the shade!
JV: This was made in 1985. This is an OLD movie!
Me (born in 1981): Gee, thanks... 🤦♀️🙄🤷♀️😜
Me got married in 1985 😮 sigh
Me born in 1964. 😮
Well, it's almost 40 years ago. So yeah...old.
Me, born on this day in 1973: you get used to it.
JV busting out the shades had me rolling 😂
It's so funny that you brought up the actress in the Karate Kid.....
I also do that from time to time. I keep telling my friends or younger people that "this used to be bush as far as the eye could see.."
It's just a statement of nostalgia and wonder- you feel you want to share that feeling of wonder with whoever you're informing. There's no bad intention behind it.
It's like " My g*d.. where'd the time go? To think, we've come so far.."
Anwyay, I think Doc WAS wearing a bullet proof vest even at the start of the movie. I mean Marty would've warned him already in the past.
You can even see it when he first gets shot. Ther's no blood and he was concealed behind the car.
Marty ran over one of the Pines when escaping when he first landed in 1955, Old Man Peabody screamed "you killed my pine"
“You space bastard!”
The script for this is considered perfect. It is so good it is used in film school curriculums. Every little detail is foreshadowed, and every little detail gets picked up by the end.
One detail still bugs me.... why 3D glasses? The world is already in 3D!😂
@@michaeljacyna1973Because 3D movies were a big trend then, and I guess kids then thought the glasses looked cool. Just my own theory.
@@michaeljacyna1973For 3D gimmicked movies. The world is 3D, but the screen you watch on isn't.
It's lone pine because when Marty first went back and drove away from farmer shooting at him he ran over one of the two pine trees
This trilogy is literally in my top 5 ever…not only a bit nostalgic growing up on the 90’s having this playing in my house on VHS lol but it’s so well directed and written..so simple and predictable but so amazing…RIP to the ride in universal studios Orlando…love the vid guys
4:44 the guy that says they're 'just too darn loud?' is Huey Lewis. Not only is he a rock and roll musician himself, he *wrote* the song Marty's band was playing. He actually wrote a lot of the music in this movie and many more after. You started singing along to 'The Power Of Love' earlier. That's one of his.
Crispin Glover was only NINETEEN when he played George McFly in this flick
I also developed THE biggest crush on Lea Thompson as a kid lol.
Who didn’t? 😊
When Marty was speeding out of the Peabody farmyard, he accidentally ran over a pine tree. The farmer screamed "You killed a pine!!"
That city street of Hill Valley is a studio backlot used in a lot of movies and TV. You might recognize it from Gremlins or Ghost Whisperer.
"[Biff] is so nice now..." Marty's family is pretty wealthy now, and Biff seems to have a pretty good gig working for the McFly's as an auto detailer. He wants to keep the tips rolling in.
To your guys' point about the movie "trying to tell you guys" something, or that they "choreograph" major plot points.... That's the exact reason why this movie is used as a prime example in screenwriting/storytelling classes, on how to tell stories properly in terms of setting things up, and paying things off later. That's what's great about this movie, is that there really is no fat to trim off or add, so to speak. Nothing comes out from just nowhere; everything serves a story and character purpose. Everything from establishing that Marty can ride a skateboard, wants to perform music in front of an audience, and something brief like the DeLorean's starter malfunctioned, are all set up early, so they can be brought up and come into play later.
I really miss seeing Michael J Fox all over the place in the 80s and 90s,one of the greats and it’s always good to see him when he shows up every few years
Thank you guys, great reaction!
This film is a classic that'll live forever. Great reaction! 👍🏿
You guys caught some of the changes like *Twin🎍🎍Pine Mall* became *Lone🎍Pine Mall* because he ran over the *Pine* at *Peabody's* Without giving spoilers there are Easter Eggs in all the movies that connect them.
Funny that you mentioned the girlfriend "disappearing" in The Karate Kid II. Jennifer in this movie (Claudia Wells) wasn't able to do the sequels due to her mom having cancer, so she was replaced by Elisabeth Shue (the girlfriend in The Karate Kid).
Elisabeth Shue's worst acting ever
What a wonderful reaction! Also, watching you guys scat was the bonus I didn't expect but needed so very much. I love your channel!
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ...THANK YOU GUYS.
It’s funny to watch you guys call out the foreshadowing that’s going on but you have the benefit of 40 years of learning about the structure of films so that you can recognize it. This was genuinely original storytelling that was not only endlessly entertaining at the time but it influenced everything that you’ve watched in since it came out that provided you the insight to recognize the foreshadowing in Back to the Future. Good stuff.
"Is this Elons fav movie?" I'd say Knight Rider/K.I.T.T more seeing he had the theme playing in very early days of Tesla events. Unfortunately no reactors want to react to the pilot movie for the show, K.I.T.T is probably the most influential 80s car of them all.
He likes a lot of sci-fi movies and books, and names many of his products and assets after items from sci-fi media. So it is very likely he enjoyed this movie in his youth.
It changed from "Twin Pines" to "Lone Pine" because Marty took out one of the saplings when he was in 55.
Incredible movie. So fun, so much heart, great story, characters, and humor! A perfect movie for me personally.
This is my dad's all time favorite movie franchise, I grew up watching these movies all the time. Never gets old. Probably seen each one like 50+ times haha Glad your reacting to them :)
The song "Johnny B Goode" was sung by Chuck Berry (who was known for his "duck walk" onstage). There is scene in the film where Marvin Berry (lead singer of the Starlighters) steps off stage and calls "his cousin, Chuck." He then says, "remember that new sound you were looking for? Well listen to this!" (and then holds the phone out to the stage).
The name of the mall is changed to "Lone Pine Mall" because when Marty first arrives in 1955 and speeds away from the Peabody Farm, he runs over one of two small pine trees.
they are wearing old people make up because they used the same actors for past and present...it saved a lot of money on actors...trust me this was a genius idea at the time and it really paid off.
Marty's dad was in one of the Friday the 13th films (can't remember which) and he was also in Hot Tub Time Machine.
Y'all should check out Dazed and Confused
“Say man, you got a joint?”
I miss 1985, when people could watch back to the future without having to constantly voice their overly dramatic opinion on the fictional and comedic marty/mom dynamic. Its not real life, ok?
Yeh, so cut that out mom...lol
We never thought for a second that anything would actually happen. But every reactor seems to think they're goin' full Hillbilly! No, Marty was never in danger of being his own father!
@@curtismartin2866 exactly I remember seeing this in the 80s and early 90s and never once thought they were gonna hook up until these new reaction people who take everything so literal
@@snakecharmer3587 Well, we had just discovered Donohue back then and we're pre-Jerry Springer. Maybe all the years of reality TV and the like have jaded these poor kids beyond repair. Captain Oveur in Airplane! is a monster now and we just laughed at how ridiculously wrong he was (and yes, I have seen a grown man naked).
Blossom & Joey.. WOAH!🤣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
33:40 It was when Marty told Doc how George knocked out Biff -- he'd never stood up to Biff before.
The Nostalgia Critic quotes someone, one can put the characters and the audience through so much as long as they finally have a happy ending. They definitely stress the daylights out of them here.
42:50 Marty destroyed one of the twin pines. Hence the payoff, "Lone Pine Mall" instead of "Twin Pines Mall".
The ending was not intended as a sequel set-up -- merely a joke, reflecting the trope, "And the Adventure Continues". The ending and the sequel would have been incredibly different, had a sequel been intended or even envisioned.
“Kramer” was actually very similar to a character named “Jim” from the very popular TV show “Taxi” from 1978 to 1983. Jim from Taxi was played by Christopher Lloyd, the same actor playing Doc in this movie.
Saw this when it premiered in the theater, one of my favorites. Another one of my favorites you guys should react to is The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.
The Final Countdown is one of my guilty pleasure movies. It's so hoaky, but entertaining.
The movie Time After Time is a good time travel movie. Malcolm McDowell plays H. G. Wells who goes into the future to look for Jack the Ripper.
These are the movies that made us. Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Terminator (and Terminator 2,) and loads more to mention... good stuff.
I saw this when it first came out. Like a lot of people, I thought Doc, hanging onto the cable from the tower and the other clipped to the bottom of his pants, would get electrocuted, being part of the circuit that the lightening travels in order to send Marty back. In other words, this would "break the loop" and not let Marty travel to any other time. (And the sequels were NOT planned when this movie was made, only after its great success.)
You know...when he commented how old the movie is even though I was born in '88 I still felt some type of way
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Those of us from New Brunswick Canada know the DeLorean as the American Bricklin (look it up.)
Awesome reaction of my favorite Back To The Future movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
When Marty drive away from Mr Peabodys farm, Mr Peabody yells............. You killed a pine you son of a b**ch. To be honest, I have watched this movie atleast 100 times before internet and youtube was a thing and if it wasnt for watching people reacting to the movie I wouldnt have noticed the sign Lone Pine Mall.
Best trilogy ever made.
I love how people assume they know things from Back to the Future because 2015. They have no clue that everyone else knows they don't because they don't know the 2015 reference.
Biff's cronie who looked familiar that punched Marty was Billy Zane, who played Rose's fiance in Titanic.
"Everyone's wearing jeans!" Um, go into any Walmart or Target and you'll see rows and rows of Levi and Wrangler jeans... Bottom line, jeans are still a best-selling item! In fact, kids buy 'em, fade them and tear huge rips in the knees and somehow that makes them fashionable. Oh well, lol!
These two are morons.
You like the orchestra cinema songs. When I turned 40 my girlfriend took me to see Empire Strikes Back, but the music was all played live by the New York Symphony Orchestra. It was amazing to see how everything down to the harps playing small moments in the film, a highlight of my life!
Watch the entire trilogy! It’s not just a couple of sequels. They tie together.
Doc, Christopher Lloyd was great in old 5v show TAXI. Played a great alcoholic.
I don’t remember Jim being an alcoholic. Just a chronically burned out former hippie.
Fun fact: Thomas F. Wilson plays the part of Biff. He has aged in real life exactly how the makeup artist thought he would. He is still instantly recognizable as Biff & gets noticed by fans all the time.
34:20- lightning made my own power reset as you were talking about it😂
When I first watched the movie Taken there’s a scene where Liam Neeson is using electrical shock interrogating a guy who he thinks knows where his kidnapped daughter might be. At the exact moment he touched the guy in the movie with the electrical wires, all the power went off in our house. It was the freakiest thing.
Loved watching this with you both! Hurry and react to the next two back to the futures!!! My favorites are #1 and #3. I’m not as quick as you, you have to be on your toes for #2!
When he was in the past, he took out one of the trees with the car. There was two trees there. So then it changed.
16:19 *_Finally!_* Someone who understands that no one is going to remember a random person they knew, for a week no less, _thirty years later._ Every other reactor always asks the same question, "wHy DoN't gEorgE and lOrAinE rEcOgNizE mArtY?🤪"
_Because why would they??_ After 30 years?? No.
This is the one movie series everybody loves. And I mean everybody..Horror Film fan? Loving Back to the Futre...Drama Fan? Loving Back to the Future..Old guy or small kid? High school gradjuate 1986. Miss the 80s 😢
A fun little history about this movie the guy who had the loudspeaker and said I’m sorry they’re just too damn loud. That was actually Huey Lewis and it was his song that they were playing.
Great fun reaction... Jane getting stressed is awesome.....yes as some have mentioned this was only supposed to be a one and done but with the success of BTTF1 the sequels were made and in fact back to back so that Doc and Marty wouldn't age from 2 to 3.
Totally fake reaction...
Michael J Fox was already major TV star on the sitcom Family Ties when he filmed the three movies. He was really about 23-24 when he made this but his height was 5 ft 4 in. The first movie here was NEVER intended to be a Trilogy but was so successful they decided to make 2 more, all connected seamlessly. Christopher Lloyd [Doc] had already been in major movies as supporting players, most famously in One Flew Over the Coo Coo's Nest in 1975, and on the sitcom Taxi [1978-1983] where he played another wild type, "Reverend Jim" a tripped out, burnt out former Hippy type taxi driver who half the time didn't know where he was or anything. Seems Reverend Jim turned into Doc , lol
It was lone pine after Marty drove off DeLeon drive off old man pine
DeLorean
I just found out MJF was shooting Teen Wolf when he took over the role of Marty so MJF was shooting both films at the same time
They only shot a couple weeks with ERIC STOLTZ until they switched gears. They didn't shoot the WHOLE movie twice. It was just a few scenes.
To be fair I've heard both. Thomas F Wilson in an interview when he is recounting his time with Stoltz said it was mostly done. "Almost finished" in his words
They also used some footage that had Eric Stolz in it, obviously not his face, but other usable shots with his back to the camera maybe.
It's fun to remember all the Easter eggs on rewatches. I admit to missing several.. but love seeing them on rewatches. Watch all three to Get ALL of the cute eggs.
Great react! Welcome to the perfect 80s trilogy!
It is a great trilogy, best time-travel ever made.
Jane keeps reminding me of Shirley Manson (from Garbage) 🎸
Great reaction like always, love this movie its one of my favourites, and the trilogy is a timeless masterpiece. There are a cameo in this one, Huey Lewis and the News provided the song "Back in Time" to the Back to the Future soundtrack, which played during the film's credits. At the beginning of Back to the Future, Huey Lewis took on a nerdy persona in an uncredited cameo as a judge for Battle of the Bands. Marty's band "The Pinheads" played a hard rock cover of Huey Lewis and the News' "Power of Love," but were ironically rejected by Huey Lewis' character. And this was the first film role for Billy Zane While he played a bigger role than a short cameo, Billy Zane made his acting debut as Biff's friend Match in this movie and second. Keep up the good work.
Fake reaction more like it.
Hope you guys can continue the trilogy!
The cassette says Van Halen, and it is...but you won't find it on any album. Van Halen's label refused to license any music, so Eddie said, "no biggie...follow me." He took them into his studio, picked up his axe and laid those licks on the spot for Darth Vader from Vulcan.
The coming irony of him mentioning the Karate Kid movie.
the Spongebob "what!" was hilarious
This is my favourite movie, it's also the first movie in English I remember watching when I was like 6-7 years old, back in 1990/91. Don't remember if I understood that much though:)
Apparently the filmmakers were only aiming for a modest success, and were surprised when the movie became the blockbuster hit of the year.
Back to the Future did indeed make Fox an international star. But he was known before that here in the state for the popular sitcom, Family Ties. He had another hit sitcom in the 90s called Spin City.
My favourite movie
When Marty drove away from the Peabody's barn he ran over one of the trees, and Old Man Peabody yelled, "You killed my pine!" This actually offers a rare way to know how the timeline is working, since anything that was true when it was called the Twin Pines Mall, such as Goldie Wilson becoming mayor, wasn't affected by Marty's trip because the Twin Pines Mall wouldn't have been called that if Marty had gone back in time. Only the things after the Lone Pine Mall name appears would be altered by Marty.
If you think about what happens in Part II, re: parallel timelines, then you realize that Marty goes "back" to the future of the changed timeline he created. As far as the family he grew up with is concerned, he rode out one night...and never returned. But what happened to the Marty who grew up in this timeline, with the prosperous family? Did he return to find our Marty having taken his place, or did he also return to a changed timeline...?
How time travel works in the Back to the Future films is that the old reality ceases to exist getting replaced by the new reality. That means the family Marty grew up with does not exist anymore. This isn't Avengers Endgame.
21:04 note Lorraine's dad said "another of these kids" after hitting Marty. Its not a rare event. Yet Lorraine still undressed in front of the window even after other boys were caught peeping.
Marty’s guitar and his voice was Eddy Van Halen.
There's no need to get stressed out watching comedy movies from the 80's and 90's. Somehow, some way, it'll all work out. Just relax and have fun. Lol :)
