- Here's why barbers use the razor after the trimmer to get that extra crispy line up. First, the razor removes the fine hairs that the trimmer blades can't get close enough to cut. Second, this is very similar to dermaplaning done by estheticians and dermatologists, as the razor blade removes dead skin cells and can promote collagen to help skin growth. I have long ago stopped getting a shape up and accepted my natural hairline and started getting a high bald fade. Haircut lasts Much longer. It's ridiculous to pay a barber good money for a cut, then it grows outside the lines within 3 days. Get a high bald fade, cut the top an inch or two everytime without touching the edges so it grows it naturally. Shit lasts a whole month and you go through different phases/lengths of fades every week lol. I look best on day 3, which is crazy because when I used to get shape ups, I looked best on day 1 after a good shower. Then shit started growing out next day and then very noticeably after 3 days or so.

The razor use from dermatologist is necessary the razor for haircuts are aesthetic and look. Using the razor on skin is not ideal. Especially if the skin is not mature, it can actually promote tissue scarring.
