I am so glad to see you back here!! I remember when I was in Year 9 I wrote about you in a task that I did! I am so happy to see you again! You’ve been missed ❤ Thanks for returning
I feel the same. Love the minimalist trend. Tried to incorporate some of it into my life …which has made me happier. But my bag is another story altogether! Your comment that you carry too much stuff and you know you do and you’re working on it rings true for me. I am rooting for us both on our respective journeys.
I have not been a faithful follower but it's so cool you are still uploading. Your content is so authentic; in my opinion you are a founding pioneer of RUclips Vlogs. "What's in my bag" concept precedes modern "Unboxing" (even if it's not exactly the same). Being open about yourself precedes so much of what people didn't know they would massively appreciate now. I'm sorry about the steady pain of migraines. Wishing you the best. Greetings from 🇲🇽
Hearing you mention your migraines is so relatable. I've struggled with them since I was a teen. I've never found meds that work for me, but I completely feel your pain (the nasal sprays are the worst!) Love me some Kool N soothes. Honestly seeing this content as a consistent thing you've done for so long is super comforting. Don't break the tradition
Not sure how old you are now, but sounds like it might have been a while. Sorry to read. Kool and soothes have their moments! Just wish they came in a form that was reusable. I also found that my forehead cream ruins the stickiness on them, I keep forgetting that :D. I've been known to be working at my work desk with them on, it's just acceptable to see me with them now haha

The first video of yours I watched was the “she takes a photo of herself everyday for 4 years” when I was 10 and now I’m 21, graduated from university and still subscribed. Crazy times!

Thank you.... I didn't realise she was so active behind me. Her brother had a habit of racing round the room like a squirrel when I vlogged (he lives with parents now). She's much calmer!

I am neurodivergent/autistic, and I find the idea of commuting so overwhelming - sounds, people, scents... I've actually never been on a train (apart from a steam train in North Yorkshire), but I'm hoping one day I can fight the anxiety and do it! I also wear a hairband around my wrist, I use the ones with knots in them (they're metal free ones) and I can often co-ordinate them with what I wear! Also I'm a fellow Starbucks blonde vanilla coffee lover, it's my go-to! This video made me so happy, Beckie, thank you for brightening my day! :D

Gosh i have been subbed to you since i was in junior high and were actually the first RUclipsr i subscribed to. i am now almost done with college! I don’t know what compelled me to scroll to to the bottom of my subscriptions but god hearing your voice again and the way you talk immediately put me at peace. Im so happy to see and hear you again :,)
Just scrolled down to see the last time i was an active viewer and it was your flat tour 8 years ago :,) I’m so happy to rediscover you and your content, i hope the years have treated you kindly Rebecca

Hi Rebecca! I’m still mid-video, but I wanted to say that what you’re calling migraine is actually the “attack phase” (the painful part), and there are other phases before and after that, which is what you describe as the run-up and the aftermath. All of those things - run-up, pain, aftermath - are parts of the migraine! Not everyone experiences every possible phase, and for some people the phases they experience vary (it’s even possible to have a migraine without the severe headache, oddly enough). You may know all this already, but I wanted to bring it up just in case it could be helpful!
Oh I agree with you, I haven't been listened to or educated by Doctors for most of my adult life on this topic, even with PCOS/Polycystic ovary, they just shove a title in our face and no education at all. Bit like my experience with Trich, I know the experience I've had and am going through, but it's something else to talk about it with the right terms or even from the valid perspective of knowing I have something! Was talking for years about hair pulling before Trich was in my vocab. The attack phase is exactly that. Oh boy as you probably know, it's bad. Something I found hard, was when I started taking sumatriptan, the Dr told me to take it as soon as I knew I was having a migraine... well sometimes the run up could be an entire day. Other times so fast I didn't have time to let work know I was going to collapse there and then. It's hard to seperate out the phases sometimes. Your comment is great and I relate to you. Sorry you go through similar too by the sounds of it. Here's to us fighters in whatever stage we're going through
Hi Beckie!!! I finally found your channel again! I used to watch you when I was younger all the time and recently remembered and was curious to see if you still made videos and now I’m 21 it’s so good to see u again!

They're very pricey but I highly recommend the Sony noise canceling headphones, they also blend noise cancelation w/ amazing music quality, it turned out to be so amazing that they were worth the investment to me

Also, I know it’s a completely different kettle of fish, but I really related to what you said about the anticipation/recovery stages around your migraines being just as tough to work around. For me, it’s my periods, and I swear it’s intensified by my neurodiversity too. 7-10 days at the end of the cycle where stress tolerance and emotional regulation are through the window, then 1-3 days of intense pain, followed by a further week of my body recovering from the stress and physical exertion of it all. If I’m lucky, I get one week per month/cycle where I feel both physically and mentally okay... but that doesn’t always happen, as quite often I’ll catch some minor illness as soon as my period stops due to the affect on my immune system :’) I apologise for such a long explanation, but you’re the first person I’ve come across who has described anything similar to the (seemingly relentless) cycle my body likes to put me through. It can be so demotivating, and I can only imagine how complicated it’d get in your situation, especially where it repeats more rapidly and has you dealing more directly with the pain. I have had migraines since I was about 16, so I guess I can understand it in a sense, but they only really come on if I ignore my warning signs (especially burnout& stress) so I tentatively dance around them so that I don’t add anything more to the mix. For me though, the worst part of living in a chronic-pain-esque cycle like this, is that Doctors just don’t seem to be able to understand the wide span of impact that it has, or the resilience it takes to manage it whilst (at least in my case) watching things gradually worsen over the years. Particularly when you’re still in early adulthood. But hey, I manage better than I did in the past, and in this kind of situation I think that’s all you can ask for- even if the symptoms aren’t improving. I’m just happy I’ve started to adapt to my version of normal, care less about what others expect people my age to do, and have almost found a sense of routine with it all. I’m not sure why I shared all of this, but I think I started to reasonate when you shared a little about this on your Insta stories a few years ago, so hearing you mention it clicked it back in for me :’) but anyways, was lovely to watch a chatty video of yours like this again 💞💞
I love your videos and the little insights into your life. I carry a lot with me just because it’s comforting to me. We’re the type of people that will be passing out essential items when the train is grounded for a few hours, so people need folk like us 👍🏽 😂

I realised after posting that I didn't actually do that many close ups. I'm outta practice on that score. Sometimes I love that part, seeing the intricacies of what people carry. Also seeing used and loved items, not just something sent by PR. My lip balms are all rarely finished as I have so many but all used and loved. My purse is battered and bought a new one but still clinged to my old
I feel you with the migraines. I have a pretty rare, severe form of migraine. Whenever I get one, I’m down for about three days. Whenever I was younger, before I got on my medicine, my migraines would be so painful I’d be bedridden and throwing up. I completely understand not liking the soundproof headphones. I can’t even stand it when I’m trying to fall asleep and I lean against my ear and can hear my own heartbeat/breaths. I actually thought I was the only one haha.

I also get migraines, have been released from hospital after a 2 week migraine and not sure how to feel normal again. My energy and semblance of normal have evaporated whilst my world stops when im struggling. I've watched Rebecca for over 10 years, we are the same age and I've listened to her through some huge milestones, kids, special needs, body image, jobs, relationships and the comparisons. Im so proud to see Beckie is still being herself and owning it, she's a safe place to me. Also her words are perfect timing, my 13 year old cat and best friend is gone and life feels different without her. I needed some nostalgia
Goodness that sounds like a bad one. It will knock you sideways - I don't know if you deal with anything else, so I won't assume it will suddenly lift... but from experience, I know I can fluctuate from zombie-ness to full on healthiness. When I threw up with my migraines, my throat would take a few days minimum to recover and it was like jet lag. Could take a day to a week or so. Just take it as it comes. Be kind to yourself.... They can knock into us, so don't feel bad.
I also like getting something when i travel into work as a reward to myself- i prefer pain au raisins, but getting a croissant for yourself as a treat sounds lovely.
@@beckiejbrown I have made my own pain au raisins some times. You can try making your own croissants or buying some pre made ones and putting almonds on them. It feels like a special treat to carry your own homemade ones around with you lol and is calming for me to make the pastry. That might not suit you to make your own ones though. Hope february is going well for you so far. :D
@@Gagging4Lit My partner and I made croissants 5 years ago. It was arduous indeed! Learned lots about it all though! :). Can buy ready made dough which is something we ended up doing more frequently. That sped up the process. For the first year in London, I tried to bring my lunch in with me, but the weight and also the amount of times it ended up being my tea due to work lunches. Feel lucky I have my own kitchen to cook though, there was a point I wasn't eating properly as had to avoid the kitchens in places I lived due to flatmates and socialising. Life is better now
@@beckiejbrown yes, i have heard of the ready made dough method. Nigella does that one in her How to be a Domestic Goddess book, i think lol. Hope you get to recuperate at some point!

Is your commute 3 hours total round trip, or 2-3 hours each way? Either way that is a lot of time to spend travelling wow! Also, not sure if you have a q&a coming or anything (tho my mind always goes blank when you do ask for questions!) but i was wondering if you'd share how you got into kayaking? Or if you already did share somewhere where was that? I'd love to get into something recreational and sporty like kayaking but get so intimidated about how to get started..

Yesss I’m the exact same when it comes to leaving the house (and was diagnosed with adhd last spring). It doesn’t matter what time I wake up, or how long I give myself to get ready- it’s very often the reason I end up late to things :’) I can easily spend 20 minutes to an hour bouncing around my flat remembering random items that might come in useful for the day ahead... when I moved back to campus for my final year at uni, I thought I’d finally break this and be on time- but if anything it’s gotten worse, cos I no longer have the deterrent of my bag weighing too much if I overpack 😂 I haaate the sensory aspect of a heavy bag, but as my uni isn’t in a city, all the buildings are much closer (15 mins away max) and I forget that not every lecture is five minutes away.. last semester I got pretty good at arriving exactly three minutes late to most classes though so I guess that’s a half win hahah

It's so much fun carrying stuff just for chronic migraines, isn't it? For me it's usually a snack, a water bottle, and I've got a tiny flat pill case in my wallet where I keep excedrin migraine and rizatriptan. It's not ideal for me to take rizatriptan while I'm away from home, because it knocks me out, but I carry it anyway. Oh and of course prescription sunglasses because I can't drive without the prescription lol. Also everything you described about both the before, and the after of a migraine, yes. I usually call the after part a migraine hangover because honestly I feel like how I imagine a hangover feels. (Never really got into drinking much because I'm in the US and was diagnosed at 21.)
Yeah. There are times I feel like an idiot - like I am over pre-paring... But there have been migraine experiences that stick with me where I wasn't pre-pared or away from my kit and I've suffered heavily. You relate I think. Yeah, I used to describe it as feeling hungover. I've only been hungover three times in my life and I remember them painfully. It's similar. Now I understand there are terms to describe it, the post drome is amazing to know about. It validates our experience I suppose. Appearing to moan about being unwell post-migraine sounds like we are being dramatic, but hey - it's a genuine part of it for many. I wish you well on the journey you're on. Your battle with this is valid

I get migraines too and I swear by Cambia but you have to take it as soon as you feel one coming on and on an empty stomach but it usually works for me. I also take amitriptyline and it definitely helps me sleep.

Because of your last video with this bag I purchased the same bag in the same color for work. I love it and people are always amazed about the amount of stuff in the side pockets or as they call them “wings” 😂 I also get migraines. They are hereditary (thanks mom!). They went down significantly when I moved out of California, but now I take rizatriptan for them. It is a pill that dissolves on your tongue. It decreases the size of the blood vessels that cause the migraine and I say they are my magic pills. They make the pain and pressure disappear so I can function. I call the aftermath of a migraine a “headache hangover.” My body feels exhausted from fighting with the pain and my eyes feel like I have been crying for days. I also use what is called a headache hat I got from Amazon. It wraps around your head and has little gel filled “ice cubes” you can move around. They put pressure on the head which helps with relief and it can go over your eyes to block out the light.
Wings? I like that! Yeah, this bag is great! I think the only downside, along with lots of bags like it... is when I have to take it off to hold with a hand or two on the busy tube, the waist straps hang down and can get damaged by being trod on. Apart from that... I love it. Where my pink flask has been inside the front pocket that it's designed for, the bag has worn a little at the bottom where the bottle must be rubbing on the tube... but after four years.... it's done amazingly! Amazing how much it can carry..... we are Mary Poppins!
might be worth asking work if you could have special arrangements made and have a designated desk (especially because neurodivergence and mental health stuff can make hotspotting very stressful for you). i had a friend who did this recently and on the basis of disability rights they obliged :) just a little idea xx love these videos so much - v nostalgic x

I'm a float medical assistant...I understand the "no permanent work station" life. I carry a backpack to and from work every day and sometimes I feel that I also carry too much...but it all comes in handy!! I swear!!
There can be pros to this of course! :D But the reality is, not living in London as well as moving around, means more to carry. Thankfully, I don't have a laptop, though I think that's looking likely this year!
ahhhhh yes Sumatriptan, my old friend. I haven’t needed it for a while thankfully. I was getting migraines and chronic headaches for a long time, especially during the lockdowns, but I’ve since realised it’s been from a heightened state of stress and overstimulation (autism squad too). I think having a good dose of my adhd meds helps too. I very rarely get bad headaches anymore. That said, my goodness I was happy to see this in my sub box! I’ve always loved your what’s in my bag videos, they’re comforting and always thorough with the old clips. PS: your statement about not calling your aversion to fluids a phobia anymore got me thinking - did you ever consider that trich was another autism sensory thing, or has that always been its own beast for you? Obviously not trying to invalidate anything, it’s just a thought process I’ve had with a lot of pain/mental issues in my own life.

Rebecca you look wonderful and healthy and best of all, you look happy. I missed your regular random posts during the pandemic, your channel is like comfort food for me lol, and it's really nice to see your name pop up in my RUclips alerts. I adore your style in general and also your look for this video. Your hair is so cute! Have you ever tried wetting your brush with water and running it through when you have "static hair"? I hope you know the makeup isn't what's making you pretty, but when you put that effort in girl, you slay. Thank you for brightening my day with such a simple yet personal and relatable video. I'm really glad you're back at it Beckie! Cheers :)
Not sure if you meant vlogs or IG. My videos were rare but I became addicted to IG stories which I find hard to look back on. I understand why I was the way I was - was having a breakdown and the NHS still weren't listening about being neurodivergent. Painful time indeed. Videos showcase less of that, but gosh I was unhappy. Better in both places now. Static hair advice, I'll try it all. I also know I play with my hair too much so that doesn't help. Been dealing with greasy hair moreso than when it was shorter as playing with it so much. Haven't tried the ballloon trick yet. I really should :D
@@beckiejbrown I meant RUclips videos. Never really been into IG. I stumbled onto your She Takes a Picture video a few years back and really liked it and went through some other content and started following. I think what hooked me was the idea that you're kind of a new type of person, you've grown up filming yourself for the world to see and that's a new thing, but we're nearly the same age and I also find your content eminently relatable. Your viewpoint pieces would make me think but you also just sit down and share feelings sometimes and also do a lot of purely fun stuff like your "bag tours" and book lists and all that. You're kind of an influencer (if that's the right word?) but you also don't (seem to) shy away from displaying the fact that you're, like, a whole real person, with likes and dislikes and strengths and flaws and fears like anyone else. Which is refreshing in the era of IG models and TikTok dances. I guess that's what I mean when I say it's comfort food. I'm sure you put a lot of effort (and anxiety) into producing your videos and I'm sure it's not always comfortable so I don't want to invalidate that. But I do think you make a positive impact. All of which is just to say in so, SO many word that I'm really glad you're back at it :) Oh and the water on the brush thing, it might not help all day but it should tamp down the frizz for a bit at least. You can also just run your hands under water and then run them through your hair a few times, get it just damp enough that it all sort of sticks to itself instead of frizzing out. My hair is fairly thick so I don't know how well it might work for you but hope it helps! Cheers!
I’ve literally looked everywhere for this but was just wondering what brand the pink coffee flask with the specific mouth piece is from? It’s driving me not because my detective skills are failing 😂

Oh me too. Have you seen Emma watsons bag lady bag? I know there was one with the actress who played diana in the early crown series. They carried a vibrator - fantastic! :D

Hi Beckie ask your Dr about taking Topiramate for your Migraines as I was like you up to the last year or so having one really bad one every few weeks and my dr prescribe these for me and they have made a difference I have not had a really bad attack for a nearly a year still having some not so bad ones where I can take a sumatriptan and sleep it off over night but none where I’m stuck in bed for days

Sorry to hear about your migraines. I just wanted to say I’m currently prescribed both amitriptyline and sumatriptan. Perhaps you could get a second opinion on having both if you feel you need that.
Oooh interesting! My Doctor told me I wasn't able to be on both medications at once, so took their word at that. There must be a reason. Will look into that. The first major migraine I had this year was hard, as I still had my suma in the flat. It was the worst migraine I'd had in a few years and really wished I could have used the stuff even to bring a little relief! Amazing what medication can do for us eh?

Ohh Rebecca... About the consistent migraines... I have worse muscle aches and pains since I got the vaccs. Monthhss, it's legitimately like chronic pain now. So I really quite get you. The pains and aches make me not wanna do anything at all. But of course I need to work like a regular person. I work in the IT industry and quite frequently my eyes feel slightly hot and tired. I like to put crystals on my eyes and they help abit! Even uses them to massage my muscles too. Just wanna say I love watching your videos just like back in the times. All the best for 2023 and may we have lesser pains and more happiness in our lives. 💛💙🤍❤
Really sorry to read that and wishing the best for you. I know someone who hasn't recovered from Covid in 2021. Their life hasn't been the same and constantly in hospital. Not the same situation, but covid has changed their live for the forseable future. Hang in there whatever you're going through. Yeah, the mental repercussions are tough. And that's okay. The ongoing nature of something, the never ending nature too... I used to read gossip sites that went on about how I should be used to the pain or it's just another migraine - grow up. When for me, the pain is still pain and the next one is just around the corner. It's not about getting through today, it's the rest of my life.... I absolutely get you. Things can change, not everything is fixed for life... that's a vague statement but life is funny sometimes. For now though , do what you can... and know it's okay to feel down during lower times - what you're feeling is valid
@@beckiejbrown Thank you so so much for this lengthy heartfelt reply, Rebecca. I really appreciate this so much! 🥺Felt like a big big warm hug under the blanket on a cold day. All of what you said reminded me of a few songs from BTS and they really helped me tide through the difficult days. When you're free, I really recommend and hope you can give these a listen too and may they give u the same warm hug they did for me too. I will just recommend few songs. Blue and grey that it's okay to feel down like blue and grey. Life goes on literally about how life goes on. Also not today. It's okay to run if we can't fly, to walk if we can't run or even crawl if we can't walk. Much loves and hugs! 💞💙
I hope you will find the write combo for your migraine! It's truly horrid to have them, but best of luck whit the meds!! Your vidios are so cosy btw :)
The Amytriptaline has been interesting so far. Less migraines but more severe. Far more headaches and my fatigue/exhaustion has skyrocketed... will see. I'm grateful for the change though. Pushing onwards and hoping this is going to be the right path. x
Yeah, wondered if it was like Spanish at school. Si. I say See mostly. It's lovely. I associate it with corporate and working in London, like a more dressed up and corporate version of myself. Still love Bon bon - that's my go to :D

5:20 - Have you ever tried menstrual panties/boxers that you wash instead of pads? I've been interested in trying those, because I also cannot use anything "insert" -y (lol) and I really hate using so much plastic in the pads I use. 😁 Too bad menstrual panties are so expensive though.
Haven't tried pants yet. Truthfully, part of me is a bit freaked out by blood soaked underwear. Pads are stressful enough, but at least I can see the blood and dispose. Pants need washing. I just get a bit overwhelmed. It's been on my list to try, but I just keep putting it off... especially when finding normal knickers I like is stressful enough.... I get stressed by material, shapes and textures. :(.
I still have Trich, just pull less severely. Last two years been dealing with the aftermath of going bald underneath and round my left ear, whilst having longer hair.

I know it’s really personal but Id be interested in how you were diagnosed with autism etc as a 33 yr old woman im just starting the process x it’s scary !😅
Hey. I am 36 and was diagnosed couple of months ago. It can be overwhelming thinking about it. It took me a year do summon up the courage. I don't think the process is the same in every part of the world but similar. I went to a specialised doctor who talked to me, gave me some tests (similar to those on line)and asked to talk to a person that is close to me (my partner and mum). It was a lot but the validation I felt when I recived the diagnosis was tremendus. I finally feel like I belong and am not ashamed of my "weirdnes" (other ppl call them that). I wish the same for you, good luck and be brave. We are valuable and you are not alone!
It was a subject I was forced to take by my college. They wouldn't let me take three or more creative subjects. I had to do two and two. I chose English and Sociology to go alongside Photography and Art. It's one of those things I look back on as a huge turning point in my life. Had I been allowed to do what I wanted - how different life could have been. Sociology wasn't something I enjoyed, if anything it actually irritated my brain. Contributed to what I was diagnosed at the time - Depression - though 12+ years on, it's hard to talk about lots of things I struggled with as now we know I was Autistic (and unaware of course). I was glad to be rid of that subject at the time.

Beckie… do you part time as Mary Poppins by any chance? 😮 that bag is bottomless! Cool video, stay awesome… oh you reminded me, I need to do a post on overstimulation, the senses and neurodivergence.
Fully aware on that score. I don't wear that much make up nowadays and don't wear perfume as much as I'd like to as have been unwell so much. I know Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream, the blue one is a huge migraine trigger. Some people say cheese and dairy is a trigger, but I don't consume that much dairy either. To be honest, I've been told my migraines are due to everything under the sun. If it's everything I've been told it is, it's like being allergic to life. The biggest revelation in recent years has been the understanding of neurodivergence. Being neurodivergent as a trigger. I'd argue that's a huge part of my experience... though absolutely other things too.

I love "What's in My Bag?" videos! So good to see you, Rebecca. We've missed you!

Loved seeing you kitty appear around the background here and there, what a sweetie she is
Thank you....

I feel like a young teen again watching this :)

These "what's in my bag" videos have been my comfort videos for yeaaaars! so glad to see a new one!
My purse is battered and bought a new one but still clinged to my old
Been with you for 10 years omg!! 🎉😮😊❤ bright blessings
Dude. I’ve been following you since 2009. I just realized. This video feels nostalgic.
Nice blast from the past feel to this! ♥

I first read that as you prefer pain. I needed to re-read that haha

Congratulations on your new King of England!
Wow that bag must be HEAVY!
Yeah... winter is always worse. Travelling in summer is so much better

I just have to say I love your glasses!

Your comfortable headband looks really nice!
Thank you :DDDD

All of which is just to say in so, SO many word that I'm really glad you're back at it :)
Oh and the water on the brush thing, it might not help all day but it should tamp down the frizz for a bit at least.
Your make-up looks great, especially your eyes!

Going to stick to the medication I am for now, need to test things out over a period, but yeah - different things will work for different people.
Wonderful video!! Still happy seeing you!!!

Thank you :D

I also carry too much stuff, because I would rather be over prepared than under prepared.
Also TISSUES. I always carry at least 2 packs of tissues.
Pushing onwards and hoping this is going to be the right path. x
The name of the perfume is pronounced "see" but with a shorter "ee". It means "yes" in italian.

@@beckiejbrown - Yeah I figured it could be an issue, that's too bad but it's also totally understandable the difference ☺
Are you recovered from tritch? It's great to see you with so much hair :)
I still have Trich, just pull less severely. Last two years been dealing with the aftermath of going bald underneath and round my left ear, whilst having longer hair.

How much does your backpack weigh?
Far too much....
What size is your bag?
If you mean the official size? I don't actually know. I don't think it's their biggest though
😮😅i never noticed that was a sociology textbook in that video; cool 👍
I was glad to be rid of that subject at the time.
i love you so much ❤️

❤️hello
is your fear of fluids some kind of OCD?
A lot of cosmetics and especially perfume has toxic chemicals that can cause migraines.
