Your video was the first one that showed step by step what to do. On the various forums they toss out codes and acronyms but never tell you how to do it. Thank you!
Purchased the exact same OBDII connector. Glad to see this is what he is using and it works well. I've read that the wireless units don't work as well and can lose connection, not what you want when coding your vehicle.
Sean Brennan have you used it yet? I have a different brand but I’m having a hell of a time with drivers and not connecting to the vehicle. Did you have the same problems?
It's not focusing because you keep moving the camera back and forth. Thank you for your efforts, believe it or not I really appreciate your taking the time to produce this video. Best wishes.
i Just want to say thank you for this video. I was learning how to use FORSCAN on this Handy tutorial this guy on the f150 Forums gave me but i didnt know how to get forscan to start reading my trucks computer. just programed the OEM LEDs on my xlt.
Need to focus the camera. For those that would like to know, the switch is for a medium speed canbus and a high speed canbus. Canbus is the communications protocol used by vehicles . When they first started computerizing stuff in vehicles they used medium speed Canbus. As more features and modules were added they went to high speed Canbus. Consequently today, some modules still run on medium speed and some on High speed. APIM is the main computer for the system. Contains Microsoft operating system etc. There is Sync1. There is also Sync2 which is the same as Sync with Myford Touch I think. Sync3 is the latest which is not Microsoft based. It is by Blackberry and much more stable. Not upgradeable from sync2 without changing major hardware from Ford. How do you know to use the not as built APIM module? Where did you get the spread sheet? Is the spread sheet just for your vehicle? How do you know what module you should be in to find the feature you are looking for?
8:49 I work in healthcare IT. So if I screw up on a complex config I can actually impact someone's health/healthcare negatively. So when making major changes I always save often and plenty. Meaning each time you make a change, save the config with a different name that will remind you of what is on there so you don't have to go all the way back but you'll have plenty to fall back on.
This is a great video. I am going to do the changes on my Ranger and both my Mustang GTs. Also to change the factory setting on the axle ratio as I have changed the gearing. Thank You!
Hey Dan like the video! I have been watching different videos learning a lot. Also gonna try to get my 2017 F350 to run drl lights while driving. Not having all lights on. Also windows to roll up and down along with the side mirrors to fold when I turn my alarm on and unfold when I unlock with my key fob.
Great video, definitely made me feel more comfortable about approaching this. My main concern/question is what happens when a new sync 3 firmware comes out. Do you have to revert changes or what? Also, I wonder what dealer technicians think when they see these mods.
Great video. I'd heard of FORScan before but was unaware that you can do so much with it. I still have many questions though. Like Where did you buy the OBS II module (and cable)? Where do I get the actual software? Does it work on a Mac or just Windows? Where did you get the spreadsheet? I think I need to do some more research.
Great video. I have one question will this software let me program a AI Proximity key for my 2018 ford escape. I only have one good key tho, Do you know if this software will work with only having one key?
My 07 Mustang is having an intermitant problem with the starter relay-pcm-ign switch system. I think it might be a wiring problem. Do you think Forscan would find that? Thanks.
It should. The key is to get into one of the online forums for your vehicle and see if they have an excel spreadsheet of the proper coding for your vehicle. Or if your Lincoln has a similar model to a Ford then you could try the Ford codes on your Lincoln and they should work. Just be sure to write down the OEM codes are you changing so you have them to switch back to if the Ford codes did not work.
Hi Dan, I have a question, I have a 2017 Ford Super Duty with the 6.7 Diesel. With Forscan I'm wanting to add Show Temps on Gauges. I'm not sure which new code to use, the spreadsheet shows 2 options, Replace ** with E5 with brake controller which I have or A5 adds temps above gauges without adding boost gauge and boost data to menus, yes I also already have the boost gauge. Want to pick the right one the first time so I was wondering which one you used when you changed yours?? TIA!!
Hey there...so sorry for the delay...I was traveling for Thanksgiving. I used E5 because I have the brake controller. I am 99.9% sure that one will work for you. If it doesn't...no worries. You can easily change it. I would write down what the factory setting is before you make the change to the new code so you can go back to factory just in case. Hope that helps! Let me know how it works out for you! Thanks again.
Thank you for the vid I just installed the perimeter plus alarm system on my edge 2016 sync 3 and the dealer is charging me 150 just to plug it in and activate that, is not worth it , I will Try with this for scan, but only works on windows?
Great question. If you go to the ford truck forums you can find them. They are usually in a sticky at the top of the groups. Most of what I have seen they are a google doc you can simply print off. Hope that helps.
Hmmm... To bad the camera would not focus on the details. Overall good details and info. Question: Does it matter the engine size on Forscan? It is information that you enter into your registration, yet it seems to be more about the Year and model or vehicle than engine size. I am really concerned about getting the details correct for a 2019 F150 Lariat package.
hello, I'm from Brazil. I have a Ford Focus 2016 and I did a Upgrade of the sync 4 to 8 inches and I have a problem now. My sync voice and bluethoot doenst works. I known that make a update using forscan to works. Please do you have a tutorial to me fix this issue?
I have the OBDLink EX and the latest Forscan. attempting to load the configuration on my 2007 F250 6.0 only produces 7 Modules. PCM, TCM.OBDII,ABS, TBC,IC, AND RCM. The first 6 show under HSCAN, the 7th shows under ISO. I get none of the other modules. I'm trying to get the BCM for tire size. When I try Forscan on my 2004 Expedition the same thing happens. Would you have any idea how I can get the other modules to show up? Thanks
Hi...I found my coding on the Truck forums. Best bet is a google search...wish I could give you more direction. If you have a Super Duty then it is listed on the Ford Truck Enthusiast forum for 2017+ models.
Loved your video (and house and garage!!). I've now joined the Forscan Forum, but I am still scratching my head on how to get the spreadsheets for my 2013 Edge and my 2013 F-150. Any help would be great. Thanks.
So here is an item for you. I have a 2019 F350 Platinum and it had a recall for DRL that were too bright. The dealer lowered the brightness, but now I think the LED DRL is too dim honestly. Is there a way in Forscan to make the change and make these brighter?
Yes...you can go back to full brightness with forscan. Check out line #94 on this spreadsheet. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qf2gYgkhmsX-dnFO3Ki0nYUvr7aeLKsHsA0WxhDns1s/edit#gid=0
@@AdventuringTodayBill, I took my 2019 F350 Lariat in for oil service and they did that recall while it was there and yes the DRL are too dim. I want to increase it back or at lease make it brighter. Hey Dan, I just bought a 2019 Ford Expedition Max Platinum last month. After watching this video I'd like to make the same changes you made to your Expedition and more if possible. Since posting this video, have you discovered any more useful tweaks for the Expedition that you'd be willing to share?
Hi Matt...so sorry for the delay. I actually a have not made any changes since making this video. If you can find a Forscan spreadsheet on the internet for the 2018+ Expeditions that would be your best bet. I have not looked around but now that the vehicle has been out for a while maybe some folks have discovered some new things that can be done. Thank you! Enjoy that Expy! We love ours after 25,000 miles! Getting ready to consider buying new tires to get the wife/kids through winter.
@@AdventuringToday Hey Dan, I just made the few changes to my 2019 Expedition Max Platinum by following your tutorial. I was wanted to follow up again to see if you'd had any luck on finding the right code to display the tranny temp in the dash or any other successful mods for that matter.
I have a ford tourneo 1.8 TDDi of 75hp year 2006, I have changed the vp44 pump for a scrapper, and it does not start, it turns the engine, but it does not start. I've been looking at forscan but I don't have much idea how to use it, is it possible to adapt the vp44 scrap pump to the ford tourneo with the forscan? I have an ELM327 ford adapter, and it works with the forscan, but I don't know what function to use in forscan to adapt the pump, if it is possible. Greetings, any advice is welcome.
I wish I could add a picture here to help show what I am about to describe....I have a 2011 F150 XLT Super Crew. Above the stereo head unit is a digital display. It just sits there..I would like it to scroll either way because it hides a lot of my music information I want to see.....Do You know any way to make that happen? Thanks
Great info thanks for posting your videos!!! It it easy to tell which version of sync your vehicle has? I'm just getting into it myself because I need a new remote entry key fob for my 2014 f150 4x4 and the idea that a dealer will charge me $120 ($175@ the 2nd one I called) just for the key then $60 to program it just ticks me off for something so simply done by them with software and hopefully almost as simple to me once I get it. I'm glad to hear theres a helpful spreadsheet on the forums for the 150 and hopefully one for an Edge as well so I'll have to search that out. With all the little warnings that concerns me a bit but I'm pretty savvy with tech, not so much mechanic's tho.
Thanks for the great video! Will be playing with this for sure! Now when removing the module do you need to eject it any particular way or just remove it?
Thank you...I am so sorry I cannot help with the problem you are having. I may be wrong but I think you have to go to the dealer to get this fixed or you could try Autozone. Thanks again.
If you have the DPF filter status, do you have the ability to OCR? And have you had to perform one? And can you post a link how to get the DPF status screen? Thx
Hi I been working on a super duty I'm looking for he spread sheet so I can use as a guide for future programming ,can you you tell me where I can getting
Great info thanks for it, I have question if you can help please, I had a focus 2016 sync 3 with navigation and I already updated my maps to my region F9 maps for Middle East, before i had done it I was having a home screen with navigation but after i did the update and changed my region using the forscan I have now the home screen as it’s a non navigation (big radios widget and compass So if I want to change the home screen from where can i do it ?
Thank you for the video. I am getting into Forscan and this helps a lot. Question, if I write the wrong code to my car , what will happen? I will save my original file so I can put it back, but will I break something? I have a 2018 Fiesta MK8 Titanium with Sync3. I cant fine any code like you have on the super duty. I did find the excell sheet for the F150 , but nothing for MK8 Fiesta. Perhaps you know where to find for my car? Thanx again for the video.
How do I find a list or spreadsheet of Forscan procedures that can be performed on my 2020 Ford Escape SE? Can my power windows automatic up and down be changed?
Thanks for the video, but maybe put some time into either screen recording software or learning how your camera focuses. Your videos would be much better. Thanks.
Any issues with programming changes not doing anything in the Truck even though the program changes took place and when I pull it back up in the FORscan tool it shows the change... I have a F450 2019..
NIce job on the video. I got the heated/cooled seats to work. Did you ever figure out the coolant temp coding yet? I tried mine with E5 (I have brake controller), but it didnt work.
Barr Thom I found information on Mazda forums (same interface) that you also need to change the hex sum at the end. Basically if you sum up all the stock values/numbers in a row, you will get 8 bit shifted hex sum, which should be equal to the last two characters. When you change a value, you need to recalculate the checksum. Hope that helps.
Thank you. I don't have them on the explorer...so sorry. I would check out the Explorer forums and search for "Forscan" and see if anyone is talking about it. The coding I used on my expedition were codes I found for Ford Super Duty trucks...F250, F350, etc. Most of the coding worked.
i swapped out my cloth seats for my 2019 mustang for leather seats and they have heated/cooled so i’m wondering if i can add the feature to turn them on
Just watched your video. In Ohio, your bambi mode is illegal. cannot have hi beams and fog lights on at the same time. Its nice to have that extra light.
Hello, how are you? Can you show the activation of the cruise control on a ford focus mk2 and 2.5? I have the buttons installed and the beeps test is ok
Not sure if you can answer this or not. 2011 crown victoria p7b from 2005+ they are all drive by wire and wired for cruise control, all that is needed is a steering wheel with the controls. They all 2005+ also use the same clock spring. After the you install the steering wheel is to enable it with VCM and IDS I can you enable this with Forscan do you know
I'm sorry I am not sure. I know guys will add OEM LED headlights and after the hardware is installed they go into Forscan and make some changes for them to work. Same could be said for larger fuel tanks or larger tires. So I would say there is a good chance you would need to make a change in Forscan to add cruise but have no idea what to suggest that change would be or even where to look for it on that model vehicle. Thank you and good luck with the mod!
Hi. I got a 2016 F250 , trying to find where to purchase the right scan tool. Would u send me a link or message on where to get one. Lots of fakes are out there.

I have a 2016 Escape with a START/STOP button & the car will "time out". So do you think there will be any issues with turning on the vehicle (while programming) with a button vs a key?

There is another site that says you need to purchase a license to do this? You dont mention a license. Is it simple as logging onto forscan.org and registering and then hook up to the odb2 plug? You make it look too easy. I created an account at forscan and it says I need to purchase a license? Is this true, you didn't mention that in your video.
Barr Thom Hey there. I have not tried for the past few weeks. I searched some expedition forums but it seems FORScan is not as big of a deal for this model compared to the F series trucks. My next thought was to search for a f150 forum but have not had time. Thank you.
Hi Tim. This one is a very simple change but there is come coding notes you have to pay particular attention to. Go to the IPC screen/menu (720-07-02). Your coding will be something close to this. x7xx xxxx. The second digit where I have written the "7" is what you want to change. If you don't have a 7 in this position do not worry. Follow this coding. If you have a 0 change to 8, if a 1 change to 9, if a 2 change to A, if a 3 then to B, if a 4 then to C, if a 5 then to D, if a 6 then to E and finally if a 7 then to F. Be sure to double (or like me, triple check) check your work. Then save the setting. Restart the truck and you should be all set! I saved my DPF % screen in my favorites so I have easy access to it.

It's like a "Game Genie" for cars!
Highly underrated comment. Bravo, sir!

How did you get the numbers on top of the heat gauges , was it with forscan or in a menu change
does changing my ford focus mk2 hvac digital panel to focus mk3 require a configuration to the ecu?
Hey, great video for a first timer. What obd did you purchase?
Great info thanks for it,
I have question if you can help please, I had a focus 2016 sync 3 with navigation and I already updated my maps to my region F9 maps for Middle East, before i had done it I was having a home screen with navigation but after i did the update and changed my region using the forscan I have now the home screen as it’s a non navigation (big radios widget and compass
So if I want to change the home screen from where can i do it ?
Thank you for the video. I am getting into Forscan and this helps a lot.
Question, if I write the wrong code to my car , what will happen?
I will save my original file so I can put it back, but will I break something?
I have a 2018 Fiesta MK8 Titanium with Sync3. I cant fine any code like you have on the super duty.
I did find the excell sheet for the F150 , but nothing for MK8 Fiesta.
Perhaps you know where to find for my car?
Thanx again for the video.
What Is that sheet of paper called that you are holding. I'm need that info for my 2015 F250 power stroke
I have Expedition 2018 screen sync3 without nav .. how i can program this to put navigation
How do I find a list or spreadsheet of Forscan procedures that can be performed on my 2020 Ford Escape SE? Can my power windows automatic up and down be changed?
Did forscan change the license agreement? We use to be able to change the settings. Now it says we need a ext license
I believe it did. Bit of a pain now. But still well worth the effort!
Great video. Do you have vehicle running or just accessory while programming?
Sorry for the delay...been traveling. Yes the truck should be running. Good question!
Thanks for the video, but maybe put some time into either screen recording software or learning how your camera focuses. Your videos would be much better. Thanks.
Thank you so much. This was very helpfull!!
Thank you!
How do you know from the spreadsheet that they're asking for regular Format and not AS BUILT FORMAT? and what did you use for the rest of the mods?
tks.. do i need to be connected to the internet when i use forscan?
Great Video. Can you please tell if the ForScan code works for a 2018 Ford F150 Diesel Sport.
Christian Garcia Thank you. I have never tried it on that vehicle. My guess is much of the coding will work just like it did on my expedition.
Any issues with programming changes not doing anything in the Truck even though the program changes took place and when I pull it back up in the FORscan tool it shows the change... I have a F450 2019..
Thanks for explanation, please I need to know how to get the coding exll sheets that you have
I posted a link in the notes on the video. Thank you.
Is possible to check real mileage with forScan? Thanks
Thank you so such for your video however how can I get a copy of Forscan codes for
2015 Ford Explorer
Thank you. I don't have them on the explorer...so sorry. I would check out the Explorer forums and search for "Forscan" and see if anyone is talking about it. The coding I used on my expedition were codes I found for Ford Super Duty trucks...F250, F350, etc. Most of the coding worked.
Where did you print out that spreadsheet at for your expedition????
Hey Phil...look in my show notes...I included the link to the spreadsheet I used...it's a google doc. Thank you.
i swapped out my cloth seats for my 2019 mustang for leather seats and they have heated/cooled so i’m wondering if i can add the feature to turn them on
You are awesome
Ha Ha...Thank you!
Just watched your video. In Ohio, your bambi mode is illegal. cannot have hi beams and fog lights on at the same time. Its nice to have that extra light.
Hi , i must say it's been a very interesting video to watch. Only one question . How can I change my remote to work with my window closures?. Thanks
thanks for the info!
Which one better for reading the codes and program els27 forscan or IDS???
Those papers that you holding on the begin where i can find it for Fiesta mk7 2009 tdci Zetec S?
Hello, how are you?
Can you show the activation of the cruise control on a ford focus mk2 and 2.5? I have the buttons installed and the beeps test is ok
Do you have to have a laptop to use this or are there other options?
Will that spreadsheet you have work for a 2019 Ford Raptor and if so, where do I get a copy of it?
I have never looked for a spreadsheet for a Raptor...but my guess is that it will be nearly identical to what I have used on my 2017 Super Duty and my 2018 Expedition. Try this spreadsheet. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qf2gYgkhmsX-dnFO3Ki0nYUvr7aeLKsHsA0WxhDns1s/edit#gid=0
Did you find a sheet? I have an 18 Raptor. I was told the F-150 one would work.
I have a 2016 Escape with a START/STOP button & the car will "time out". So do you think there will be any issues with turning on the vehicle (while programming) with a button vs a key?
Hey there...There should be no problem using the button vs the key. Just as long as it's running is all that matters. Good luck.
Hello
Thats great
I wanna ask if u have like this for explorer 2014
I mean coding
I'm using forscan but idont have that
That is awesome stuff, where do you get other vehicle spread sheet like the Mustang
Thank you. I would dig around the mustang forums. I bet you can find something there. The forums is where I found my coding for my truck.
How do you see a list of all the options to change for an F150?
I know it can do a lot, but is there a master list somewhere?
hi there I'm trying to make some changes to my 2018 F350 platinum I'm just wondering where did you get that code sheet that you found for your truck
Hi Roger...go to this website and look for the google doc. Thank you and hope this helps! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qf2gYgkhmsX-dnFO3Ki0nYUvr7aeLKsHsA0WxhDns1s/edit?usp=sharing
Actually...that is the exact document...I was able to find you the direct link and forgot to retype my message to you. Ha. Best.
@@AdventuringToday do you know where I can find a document like that for a 2014 ford Focus titanium?
roger barrett hi please can you help me how can i get codes for ford explorer 2016?
@@jdgunner75 Hi Joe...this is the google doc I used for my super duty. Not sure how much of this will work on another Ford...but I did get most of the changes I wanted to work on my Expedition. I also added this link in the show notes for future reference. Take care. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qf2gYgkhmsX-dnFO3Ki0nYUvr7aeLKsHsA0WxhDns1s/edit#gid=0
So it’s been about a month since you released the video.....any issues (cel or anything like that)?
Thank you. No CEL or any issues with either truck. Everything is working perfectly.
Thank you
What is a CEL issue?
Chris Kelly “check engine light”
great Video ,
where Can I find The FORScan Codes for 2015 FOrd focus MK3 ??? i Have a Sync2
thank you
With that cable, was it plug and play? I bought a different one and I’m going through some driver issues and cannot get it to see the vehicle.
yes...it is completely plug and play. Just remember to move the switch when moving between modules. Having the correct equipment when it comes to FORScan makes all the differnce in the world. I have also found the hardwired devices work better than the blue tooth.
@@AdventuringToday where did you get the cable? I'm adding rear fog lights to my Fusion and would like to activate the rear fog light indicator on my dash.
@@kristenhorwith5187 Amazon.
@@AdventuringToday could you post the model and brand or link?
Excellent . . . Thanks . Stay Frosty
Which cable are you using? Can you post a link?
Hey there...sorry for the delay...I use the ELM Config wired cable with a HS/can MS/can switch.
Hi can anyone tell me how to use this device to tell the van to turn the headlight back on after I replaced a blown bulb? I just cannot believe I have got to get involved with all this just to replace a headlight bulb! Thanks
Informative... but, maybe you should watch a RUclips video on how to focus your camera.
That is it. It’s not like vag com from Audi or VW where you ha e to buy a $350 cable. The FORscan system is so much easier and cheaper.
When forscan approved my account they sent a welcome video that says I need to purchase a license?
Any updates on getting the coolant on the dash above gauge for your expedition?
Barr Thom Hey there. I have not tried for the past few weeks. I searched some expedition forums but it seems FORScan is not as big of a deal for this model compared to the F series trucks. My next thought was to search for a f150 forum but have not had time. Thank you.
@@AdventuringToday keep us updated...I tried searching on the expedition forum also...no luck.
Hi Dan, just wondering if you could show how you added DPF % to screen on your 2017 Super Duty with forscan? Could use some tip. TIA!!
@@AdventuringToday Thank You for responding, I'm not the best with computers but I do would like to have the % to look at. Again Thank You for the tips!
@@timallen1262 Any time. Good luck...just go slow and double check changes before you save them and you will be fine. All the best.
