Ever since I was introduced to 'Call Of the Valley' in 1972 at IIT Mumbai campus it thrilled me to the bones. I have been its ardent listener and lover. Today in 2015 a span of 40 over years its thrill has not changed wee bit! Kudos to the Trio who are the epoch-making star players. It has not only been heart soothing but enchanting and a reliever of Stress if not Distress. Today at Toronto, during my Loneliness at 65 with wife yet to join me from India C of V is my Wife and Life!

In order to fully enjoy and appreciate various compositions of this album, one needs to read the storyline. For example, the guitar represents the hero (नायक) whereas the santoor represents the heroine (नायिका). The Nayak and his beloved leave their respective homes at daybreak for the rendezvous. The tabla starts when they meet and start talking. The flute of Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia is creatively used to set the proper mood and atmosphere.
Just sit in front of your multi component music system with both speakers to your left and right. Close your eyes and experience the pure magic.
Each composition has its own story that was published on the back cover of this LP. You may still find it somewhere on the internet.
Secondly, it is necessary to use a proper stereophonic sound system because the guitar (नायक) is heard from left speaker and santoor (नायिका) from the right one. The sound travels from one speaker to the other as the lovers leave from their homes.
This was perhaps the very first long play record of Hindustani classical music fully exploiting the imagery of the stereophonic sound in 70s.

came to US in 1974 alone and was very lonely working thru the week and being tired. Saturday morning was a little leisurely day. This was my companion every saturday first and followed by ravishanker and cook food for self. feel nostalgic and feel sadness thinking of those days leaving wife and one month old child behind in India. Thanks

I Really thank Hindustani Classical for uploading this incredible album....and i pay my homage to Pandit Brij Bhusan Kabra as we lost him yesterday and it's a huge loss for us(especially for me). My Pranam to him. But incredibly you didn't put the name of the Tabla Player in here....i don't think any ghost played the tabla in this album. And for everybody i mention his name with real regards as he really did a great job in this album. And he is: Pandit Manikrao Popatkar.

I had the CD years ago, but it was lost in the travels... I recently purchased it off Amazon, but it doesn't seem to be a legit studio recording as I can occasionally hear some background noise. The recording is not as 'deep' as I remember it either. You're probably better off just downloading the YT video and extracting the mp3 out of it. I'd say the quality is comparable to the CD I purchased from Amazon.
