love the French granny telling Monty how to garden - you have to have something all summer long - 🙄😅 she has no idea who she's showing her garden too 🙄😅 she's precious
My wife and I are living in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. We loved your story! Thank you! I am growing about 35 different veggies and 40 kinds of herbs viz.: 5-6 different tomatoes, turmeric, beetroots, beans (5x) inclusive of yard long beans, butternuts, basils, lavenders, thymes and so on and so on! My wife is the gardener for about 34 years and she got me into veggies four years ago. Thank you for your passion and opening up other gardens and to share in gardemers lives. Neels Coertse
That huge potager looks awesome, but the fact they compost pretty much al their crops is criminal. If you are not going to eat it, donate it. Otherwise it's just an enormous waste.
You took the words right out of my mouth (so to speak) I too was thinking what a criminal waste - should be donating it to local hospitals or old folks' homes or something...
If they're going to throw it out....at least donate it right. But on the other hand....that much compost is probably why the garden looks so good...and likely accounts for their seed raising mix volumes lol
That's the same kind of rocky, clay soil we have in CA. HARD to dig & plant but worth it. Sometimes the drainage is too good, but I guess dryer soil is better than soggy soil! I never knew that part of France has such a similar climate & soil to many parts of the western & Midwestern U.S. Very interesting!
@@Jeuro38 The Provence has the same mediterranean climate as California. Just have a look at the American Mediterranean Garden Society in order to learn more on the subject of habitat and climate zones. There is a crucial exchange and influence between plants from Cali & the Med.
How can a country that produced the chaos of the French Revolution and Reign of Terror have such a preference for order and geometric shapes in its gardens? Also, compare the simple orderliness of French gardens with Baroque French architecture. Then compare the simple orderliness of British Georgian architecture with the wildness that you can find in British gardens. I think the two countries got mixed up somehow.
@@flowerfairy1950 If you are talking about a few that ferry cars across rivers, I remember a few on the very rural outskirts of Sydney that were, indeed, free. And a couple of late night drug fueled expeditions that did involve making use of them.
I could never tire of listening to this man.
Agree....He's so enthusiastic, it's contagious! He makes you want to run your hands through a field of lavender!
It was a damp, wet, and cold day here in Canada....so I needed something to pick me up today....so I found and watch this again....😁
I really like the lady at 26:00. Such a lovely, so happy and enthusiastic lady!

Yeah! Very precious indeed. It seems that he got kind of shy.
Those seeds from the nuns garden are probably so pure and adapted to that region the plants just grow like crazy. AWESOME!

I mean even if they build a cute little vegetable stand and pack it up and sell it outside the garden.

I too was horrified- how pretentious- ok when it was originally conceived that was the intention- however now we know better- come onnnn
Love Monty. He's a special guy. Been to that market. It's fabulous.

France has almost all the climates that the US has. The only climate that we don't have is the equivalent of the Nevada desert.
Nia Lin get a map of the world and draw a straight line horizontally from where you live - pretty much same climate / growing conditions
@@ej3016 Nope. Do that with California and you get the Sahara. Provence is at the latitude of Chicago

¡Qué hermosas huertas! 😍
so nice garden i love it
I want that hat.
Hard to get excited with them over a cucumber, very much taken for granted where they grow like weeds.
This is perfect... Roll on my 55th birthday... Sorry UK but I'll be gone....
Are You Gone !!!!!
THANK YOU BRAVO
Soo good.
Monty, a man of (horti)culture.
j'adore

Can anybody tell me the name of the tune [and composer] that comes in at 15:17? I cannot find any soundtrack information on this series.
A lovely take on Satie, it's Vladimir Cosma's "Promenade sentimentale"
Thank you @@SammySeahorse
2:25 Yes, yes I agree and yes I would... oh wait, you were talking about courgettes?
Bad luck Monty, the punts (ferries) in Australia are free. (45:46)
Are they?

Once again offended by his lack of eyebrows.
Here is a remedy. ruclips.net/video/eZiyvN3sF-A/видео.html
didn't he have thyroid cancer? I have hypothyroidism and one of the symptoms is loss of hair, eyebrows, etc.
