  • Hi folks, I’m sharing my Filson Jac-Shirt for those of you who may be interested in high quality wool garments. All the best
    Features
    Six button-front closure
Two flap pockets with hidden internal buttons
    Two button-adjustable cuffs
Made in the USA from 100% virgin wool (18 ounce wool)
Available Colors: black, navy and gray
My Filson Jac-Shirt came lined with moleskin around the collar and cuffs, but this is not a standard feature. It was the only one in the store like it.
Cons: the button within flap pockets cannot be fastened with a full sized object in them.
In summary, the Filson Jac-Shirt is a premium quality wool shirt. It offers superior warmth and is perhaps the best of the best when it comes to heavy wool shirts.
Note: the new Mackinaw Jac-Shirt is thicker and noticeably heavier than the standard Filson Jac-Shirt. The new Mackinaw Jac-Shirt is also lined, has snap closures and comes with hand-warmer pockets.

I like your button idea but I do think a "blind" button would be very hard to secure and even more so to open again. Have both the Mackinaw Cruisers, single and double as well as the Tincloth Cruiser and jacket (and pants). Really looking to getting the Jac Shirt and a Moleskin shirt next year. Very pleased with Filson gear

Shooting in the woods both Filson vids. Are you in upstate NY, Penn State? I detect the accent maybe from there. Enjoy your vids. Greetings from Washington State.

btw I like to wear a silk turtleneck undergarment from LL Bean beneath my shirt thus alleviating any itching which isn't much with the virgin wool jac. Great jac-shirt but moleskin collar would be the jazz for this.

Hi, the new Mackinaw Jac-shirt has hand warmer pockets and snaps. It’s also heavier and thicker.

TheAmericanOutfitter thanks- ha just seeing this reply now. I ended up getting a mackinaw Jac shirt last winter and I absolutely love it. I would say it’s more of just a strait up heavy winter jacket than shacket.

Filson makes pretty good stuff. Not the quality or weight of wool it was 50 years ago, but still good. They are seriously overpriced though. Wool is expensive, but not that expensive. Maybe $40 in materials, mill pricing, there at the top end. At 230-300 dollars a shirt retail, they're making suckers out of those with a nostalgia itch....

What’s your measurements and size of the shirt jac? Thanks

Hi, 510, when I purchased this Jac-Shirt a few years ago, they were still offered in numbered sizes (40, 42, 44, etc…), which made finding a perfect fitting shirt easy so long as you know your size. I purchased a 42R and it was like it was tailored made for me. Now, they are only offered in XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL. I noticed that the sleeves are longer and baggier and they do not fit as well. Also, the buttons are smaller and more difficult to manipulate. I tried on a medium in gray, and the sleeves were too long and baggy. Then I tried on a small and the fit was too snug. Hopefully, they will bring back the numbered sizes so everyone can find a perfect fitting shirt. Thanks

TheAmericanOutfitter... You are exactly right about the sizing. I've been wearing the jac-shirt for over 40 years when it was style #90 and came in numeric sizing. I always got a 42 for light layering and a 44 for heavy layering and the size and sleeve length were perfect. Now that they come in the alpha sizing, both the med. and large have sleeves way too long. I've contacted Filson many times pleading with them to go back to the numeric sizing on all the garments that used to come that way, but to no avail, It's a pity to see a grand old company like Filson degrade or discontinue so many of the core items that for so many years were the evidence of Mr. Filson's slogan: "Might as Well Have The Best." Too bad that Stan Kohls sold the company back around 2004... it will probably never be the same under the ownership of a holding company. Thank you for your reviews as I always benefit from them.

Definitely interested in one but not sure about the size. I'm 5'6" and not sure if I should get a small or medium.

Hi, the Jac-Shirts run just a tad large to allow for an undergarment. You can call Filson and provide them with your measurements, or you may use their online fitting calculator to select the proper size for you. Unfortunately, this time of the year, they are mostly sold out of their most popular Jac-Shirts and/or sizes are limited.

Did you end up getting one? I’m also a short guy. I’m leaning towards the small or xsmall
