INCREDIBLE KYUNG WHA CHUNG...why can t violinists after her play, or even from her generational peers, with that level of COMBINED musicianship, technical power and precision, clear pitches, large warm tones, never sacrificing any with all the fire and intense expressiveness? all koreans are rightly proud of her. she is electrifying to listen to.
Chung becomes at 70. Her rendition is brilliant more mature and still passionate amd gorgeous. Chung's incredible musical enthusicastic energy flows during the performance. It impresses me deeply.

For me, Kyung has always demonstrated passion, energy, dedication, and musicianship. I have said it before, but I cannot say otherwise. She always rewards my time watching and listening with a gripping musical experience. Over the years from Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Schumann, Brahms, Beethoven, and more concertos to the great recital collaborations of Kenin Kenner and her. I am deeply grateful for being so enriched. I’ve come to very much love another Korean’s performance, Mikyung Sung with Jaemin Shin. (It’s so good that I suspect a fine young Dutch violinist, Noa Wildschut, may have copied its interpretation in a performance about six months after it was featured online by The Strad.)

Another magical performance by a Korean from a younger generation is Mikyung Sung, with Jaemin Shin. (It’s so good that I suspect a very talented young Dutch violinist, Noa Wildschut, copied its interpretation in a performance about six months after it was featured online by The Strad.)
The bouquets here for this performance astound me. She has a scant regard for Franck's directions in this piece and over indulges to the point of unnacceptability.
Very interesting to compare this video to Janine Jansen's. Chung's opening is much more angular (and somewhat faster), and her crescendo more muscular. Jansen's playing is a little more searching and sensitive, with richer vibrato. Not sure which I like better -- leaning toward Jansen based on the first movement -- but I'm so grateful to be able to hear both of these women -- among many others! PS: 0:53?
