Just remember to be aware of you’re surroundings and cautious and you will have a great time. NYC is a fast paced city with an uptick in crime and crime happens anywhere even in areas like soho, but as long as you’re aware of your surroundings and cautious you’ll be fine. Enjoy 😊
John, thank you so much for recognizing the FDNY Museum. Although my Dad was not an FDNY member, he was a volunteer firefighter in our community for many years. This meant a lot to him! Thanks again
I had an apartment on Houston Street when I was going to the High School of Art and Design in late 70s. Soho was artist lofts, bodegas, bars, murals and graffiti. It was a wonderful place to live. I can't imagine being able to afford it now.
I work security here in Soho. BEEN HERE ABOUT NEARLY 2 YEARS. I JUST WANNA SAY THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF THE YOUNG WOMEN AROUND HERE IS ASTOUNDING!!!!!!!😍😍
Soho is an amazing neighborhood. I’m still surprised to see so many of my friends think of Soho as only high-end shopping place and expensive bars. It has great architecture, history, and a great place to walk around during the day.
After 4 trips to nyc in the past 4 years we have yet to make it to soho maybe next trip. You name it We have done it lol. We ate and visited about 80% of your choices and follow your videos all year long and take notes of places to eat and visit. We already have a list of our top choices that are repeats. We find ourselves in the village a lot to eat! So many choices for great deals. Fun fact the wife and I were married 9/11 which some say sucks but we use it as not only an anniversary but a day to remember the fallen.
I see a Here Be Barr video. I click on Here Be Barr video. Thanks for the awesome content, it’s going to come in so handy for my trip to New York in 2 weeks!
Jon The FDNY Museum is one of my favorite museums in Manhattan. I use to go there after visiting my brother at his work place . SOHO is a decent neighborhood to walk thru. I walked thru it by going up Ave of America's ( 6 Ave ) all the way up to Times Square area. Sometimes to 34 street to MSG for the Rangers. Also walked Across SOHO into Little Italy into Chinatown to get to Grand Street for the B train to get me home to Sheepshead Bay .
Keep them coming. I'm going to new york this December hopefully. Your videos have brought great value to people who gave traveled or will be traveling to New york!
There was this art space in Soho called The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. It lived at 594 Broadway from 2003 - 2012, and focused mostly on comic books, comic strips and other forms of cartoon art. One of my favorite memories as a volunteer there was helping promote the Saturday Morning Cartoons exhibit that came with an actual Smurf village set. My part in the promotion was "befriending" a Smurf character which gave me a whole new perspective on character performers of that kind.
I worked on West Broadway at a jewelry shop around 2009-11. WB has a very different vibe that Broadway, kind of a European type street scene. Ansel Bakery had not yet opened, it was another café we used to go to for lunch and I recall being gutted that they had closed. Great nabe for a summer stroll!
I thought Pearl River Mart in SoHo closed! So glad to see it's still open; it was one of my favorite places to stop. Couldn't ever afford to eat in the restaurants in that area back when I lived in NYC, but these are good tips if I ever make it back nowadays.
What an excellent video (again). Your guides are superb and of course you have to include some food items within it. It wouldn't be a Here Be Barr video without this. I have always liked SoHo and always visit. I will be next year to when we return although I have made note of some of these places mentioned in this video. Great work again.
I too hope for another visit in 2023. I visited Soho on my first trip in 2018, but was with family and there was an itinerary to follow. The City was also heaving and it became tiring just fighting through the crowds of fellow tourists.
I really enjoyed this video. I've been to SoHo, but never spent much time there. This gives me some ideas of a new neighborhood to explore with my camera once I relocate back to NYC.
My sister had a loft on Mercer St. in the early 1970s. There used to be a pickle factory in the building and the basement still contained casks of pickles.
Vincent Gigante, head of the Genovese mafia family in the '70s-'80s used to walk the streets of Soho in a bathrobe and slippers acting very weird (to throw off the cops). He was called the "Oddfather".
I went to BITE in SoHo on Price Street, they make custom made lipstick, Clarins discontinued my shade, I brought a sample and they recreated it perfectly, that is a bougie thing to do
Great title. Dang it, wish I would of known about that cheap store. And that burger bun looked delicious. Please try the burger at Raoul's, you'll love it, trust me
I cant wait to go back home! I also seen the city got rid of Broadway streets near Times Square. I bet that sucks for all the people that used to take that route everyday.
Hi Jon. Fancy doing a video on the best places to propose in NYC? I’m coming out to visit in December and I’ll be popping the question. So far I have 1VB at the top of my list. A video on some other great places would be great. Thanks - Chris.
Please think about doing WestBeth one day. Would love to see it all again. RUclips is finally helping you support your family Your stuff is great and your numbers keep going up.

There used to be a store on Houston when my now late 30s daughters were teens called yellow rat bastard that they purchased something just to get a bag marked as such.
The Cronut comes in a new flavor every month and they never bring a flavor back, so once it's gone it's gone. Oh I wish only for that could I come to NYC every month haha
@@jaska8798 There is a video telling the history of the soho and how far it has came. Don't want to advertise content on another's page but the algorithm is what showed me this video so..lol
Can you do a kids friendly museum or attractions? Safety? There was some stuff you mentioned in other videos but it would be nice to have a video dedicated for a family that is bringing kids to see NYC. I am visiting there in November with my 4 yr old, we are tagging along my husband's business trip, during the day it will just be kiddo and me, I gotta look for some fun entertaining things for an energetic kiddo.
From the early 1990's to the mid 2000's I did not live in SoHo. The memories I have will always be with me. The people, the food were unforgettable! But nothing is more enjoyable than posting some crap nobody cares about on YT....
That was a very interesting tour. Thank you. The milk in that cookie thing how cool and inventive. So glad you said all people to comment will be sent one. I wish. Be well good luck with childbirth Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
Soho was nothing but a factory dump years ago during the recession, people could get factory size apartments for Pennie’s, and those who took advantage made the best investments ever… 👍🏼👏🏼😉
Hi! We’re coming to NY in May and we’d like to know if it’s safe to stay in Long Island City, Astoria… We travel with our nine-year-old daughter. Can you help us? Thanks a lot for all your advice 😉👌🏻
Art galleries in SoHo? I think you are about 10 years late. They all moved to DUMBO. Used to love to gallery hop down there and look at the street art but it's all moved away.

Would like to revist NYC again and try out those restaurants. Last time we went was March 2020, and now things look more re-opened.
Great shots on this video, the cinematography is elevated, nicely done! The places you chose are very interesting to see.
I love that Keep Calm and Cronut On sign at the bakery shop. Nice play on words! Those cookie shots sound so good! I want to try those someday!
I love walking around Soho! The cobblestone streets are so charming. Really might go get one of those cronuts like.. right now lol. 😍
i prefer the cookie shot, unless you're into floral flavors for this months cronut!

Enjoy your videos extremely! Can you suggest a location where I could get a eye level view of one of NYC's water tanks for a picture?
Not sure if you’ve done Arthur Street in the Bronx, but there considered quite authentic. I actually heard Italian spoken on the streets.
