You don't need her. It just helps you figure out how to position it so your menu doesn't end up opening into a wall or other obstacle, and it also contains the teleport locations. The video does a good job, but the important parts are a little messed up. I had to download the clip and go through it with a video editor to understand it because I don't understand English that well. Even now I write with the help of Google translate.
Hi, I did all the steps and everytime I open it, it says shell environment is stopped and I keep crashing, the only way to stop it is to delete the enviroment using desktop side quest, can u help me?
Make sure each object has a proper texture. Solid colors should work too though. I had to export each object one by one until I found the culprit. Sometimes my FBX imports would need their materials removed and a new one added.
Hey, I noticed that there aren't any lights in the scene and when I recreate the steps my resulting environment doesn't have any shadows or shading. This is a big problem for objects that are one solid color, so I was wondering if you know how to adjust the lighting or something similar.
@@albertbozesan That might be it. I'll give it a try. I come from more of an engineering 3D modeling background (Solidworks, Inventor, etc), so I always forget about different material properties. Thanks for the suggestion.
Crash loop with a ShellEnv error when trying to change to custom environment. Have to use SideQuest to uninstall it to be able to use Quest again. Have v47 on Quest and using v2.0.0 of Environment Converter and Builder. Probably not been updated for v47 yet. Edit: Fixed by making sure there's a material on every object and the textures are compatible such as power of 2 (eg: 128x128, 256x256 etc), and in RGB format. Convert textures to KTX in the Builder.
Do you happen to know how to uninstall the home using SideQuest? I can't find the location where it is stored in the files. Sorry for replying to a year-old comment, lol.
@@3DperspectiveJS In SideQuest click on the "Currently Installed Apps" icon. You should see a list of apps installed. Home environments tend to be called com.environment.xxxx. Just click it and choose to uninstall it. Hope that helps.
@@LeGaLiZeDOOMz Not true. At the time it was possible, but now they have ruined everything since they became the property of Facebook. Before, there was no need for so many complications for the home (Oculus Rift). You just make a model and import it, it could be any model of your choice as long as all the things don't exceed 16 Mbytes in size. :( Facebook came and ruined everything. You could also invite people to the homes. Now you have several ready-made ones of low quality, except by cheating you can't put anything else.

Just tried this with my Quest 3 and it broke it. Environment installed on the device, but wouldn't load and would let anything else load. All the headset showed was the pass through. Ended having to do a full factory reset! Would have been great, but try at your own risk!!
A question. Is there any data on the home restrictions anywhere? At the time with the first helmet, the home and individual models you could add were limited to 15 Mbytes. Back then you could even interact with the objects, but it was complicated and I don't remember the description anymore.
I do not think that is the fault of the video :P It clearly worked for loads of other people here ;) If you want to try it again, and run into the same problem, you can try uninstalling your home using ADB, that might save you a factory reset.
after following this procedure on my quest 3 my meta quest account refuses to load up, it ts now stuck on the point cloud screen and will not show the UI Please help in how to trouble shoot this!

i did the tutorial, used 3ds max to model my environment (a very simple cylinder with a texture) but instead of my texture i see a pink&yellow chessboard texture. any solutions?
Sounds like a texture loading error. Try and see if the image was added to the final build or not as well as it being of the right file format for the Quest home data structure (Jpeg/PNG etc ) :)
Is it just me, or they're missing the part where they import the blender environment into the converter, all they talk about is how to import the audio.
yeah theres that and then when you go to the comments section its a bunch of people talking about how the colors didnt import. How did they even get that far?
figured it out. After you export the files from blender move all of those files into the (build) folder of the environment builder. when you finish doing that drag an ogg onto the environment builder software for audio if you want to add music. From there just press build.
Anybody know how to use a 3d 360 video and make it into an environment? The only tutorials I've seen involve 3d videos or 360 photos. I have some videos I've shot with a 3d 360 camera that I want to make into an environment but can't find anything on using video.
Without going into much detail, you could convert your video to a sequence of images (either online, via ffmpeg, or just ask ChatGPT how), then you create a sphere in Blender, unwrap it, so that the images from the sequence can be applied as a texture to it. After this you could animate flipping through the texture using keyframes. My guess there would be thousands of images in your sequence, so it would be better to ask ChatGPT to write you a Python script that would go through the images in the folder and automatically set a keyframe to the new image with a certain offset on the timeline. Should work theoretically
After this you would export the model with the animation as said in this video. Also, you'd need to flip the normals of the sphere, so it looks inward.
@vadymstrelchenko3266 never did see your reply when you wrote it sorry. Though I understood none of it. I have no experience with anything you mentioned lol.
