Due to a few lucky coincidences I was there that night. And it was a magical surprise. I remember the screens were off so the people at the very front cheering caught my attention. Seeing Paul with the Hofner you knew he was going to perform - but there was some suspense as the song started and Ringo was nowhere to be seen. When he sprinted up to the drums (at 70!) all hell broke loose. I Afterwards I stood there in shock, happy tears coming down my face.
Paul getting chocked up at the end was really touching. Great to see that both have such a deep affection for one another - especially as they're the only two Beatles left, which is such a shame. Definitely adds more gravitas to the moment.
Even if all the Beatles were really annoyed with each other when they split up, I think Paul and Ringo have gotten over any problems they had with each other because they know it's only them now. That hug was precious.
It's great the way Paul is seeking Ringo's affection and approval for the visit and performance: wanted to love him and sing "Birthday", didn't want to upstage him.
He (PAUL) was guesting on Ringos current album on the unreleased Lennon track "Grow old with me". Very moving tribute to their colleague, friend and former beatle band mate.
I was there as a starry eyed (pun intended) 12 year old (I just turned 25) who had just got absolutely obsessed with The Beatles the year before. Before Paul came out everyone thought the concert was over, I did anyways I had turned around asking my mom how we were planning on getting home and then everyone starts screaming at the top of their lungs and my mom sort of unable to speak is trying to tell me to turn around and when I did I saw Paul running out on stage to which I started screaming at the absolute top of my lungs. I’ll never forget it, such a gift to have been there🥰
Imagine how coll it was for the ones who saw The Beatles for first time and saw how they broke up. And 50 years later, the ones who are still alive join in a concert.
@@tommccartneyd2956 Wouldn't it be great, that the Beatles would do a reunion tour with a new Studio album? If George and John would still be alive. And all four would be friends again. They were friends after the breakup, They were visiting one another on their solo albums, OK! John, George, Ringo did. Paul was playing with Linda (RIP) in the band Wings.
The reason why is because Ringo liked to play in front as well as the back during his All-Starr gigs, he stated it many times before in interviews. So he had someone at the back filling in the fills while he sings the songs. Sometimes he has a break from drumming when someone else in his All-Starr group is playing their song.
+beboploo Thank you very much! It's about time for another one in about a month and a half, 30 December and I'll be listening to my favorite song again! Again, thank you very much!
For more of that join, please, Ringo&Paul, no one like you, babies, no one....... the finest, greatest, best of aaaall times, you still rock, sweeties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU, FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P&L!!!!! :)
Guys he hasn't played the song since 1968, and Paul's appearance was a surprise. So, the reason he isn't playing much is because he is basically learning the song again.
that's because in his shows sometimes he sings songs without drumming (like With a Little Help from my Friends or Yellow Submarine), so he always has a second drummer with him
It's funny that Paul is the one who almost cried, not Ringo. I mean, Paul surprised Ringo on his birthday so actually you'd think that Ringo would tear up or get emotional, not Paul...

I know this is late, but he was throwing them into the crowd! I’ve been lucky enough to catch drum sticks at shows before (no Beatles sadly) but it is a great experience and keepsake for an audience member!
What was he supposed to do, start overplaying the song and adding a bunch of fills to satisfy somebody on the internet who hasn't accomplished anything near what Ringo has?
They may as well stay off the mike. Ever since the Beatles break up this loser can't play live without some other drummer on the stage to cover for his lack of talent. What a fucking disgrace!
Xcorgi You do realise that: A. Ringo has actually performed without other drummrs before. B. He doesn't play drums for the entire show, hence why he needs another drummer
+Utamia PCglitching ...Paul seems to be a Birthday surprise to Ringo and even Yoko. Ringo leaving the stage after his concert has to rush back to his drums. If there is some mic problems, so what. It's a nice live version of Birthday with 2 of the 4 Beatles and some top talent like Walsh, Derringer, Winter to help make up for no John or George. It's Ringo's 70th Birthday. All these people are there for him. Still rocking at 70 when most people are dead at 70, that's a fact Jack. ...people that don't like this, don't like ice cream and hate and put down everything, real negative anal holes. ....Here's to Paul and Ringo still rocking in this......and as they often closed with in the early days, Having some fun tonight.....Happy Birthday to all Birthday-er's who click on this !!!!!
If only John and George would've been there to sing and play their part...
I agree....That Would Of Been Great
LOL, it would have been Phenomenal, jűs sāyīn !😎✌️😎!

the backing chorus parts were actually the wives....Linda and Pattie and Yoko

Qué fortuna estar ahí 👏👏👏👏
OMG!! How lucky you were!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
I was there for my 16th birthday present...and McCartney was the cherry on top! Best birthday present ever.
You're so lucky!!
Very cool birthday present. With the ultimate birthday hymn of Rock and roll
And a performance with his best friend.
mentiroso
That's awesome, man

I believe each 4 of them were already too huge to be shelfed in one cabinet. 4 mega stars in one band = 4 dinosaur sized egos. Such a great band.
On occasion: John, George and Ringo visited one another on their solo albums musically.
It's great the way Paul is seeking Ringo's affection and approval for the visit and performance: wanted to love him and sing "Birthday", didn't want to upstage him.
@@tieukhavu8832 Paul has been on George and Ringo solo albums

At 3:10 Paul is on the verge of crying, see his face, he's holding it but he's really moved.

DhangoMicheli I thought the same...
The Beatles was the magnet of The World...still is & will be forever
Happy Birthday, Sir Ringo Starr !!
From Brazil To You !!! Congratulations !!! 79 Years Of Life!!!
Love the unlikely yet effective inclusions of Joe Walsh, Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, and Mark Rivera thrown on here. Damn good times!

They’ve been in the spotlight for decades and they still have IT ! Incredible.
El más grande músico de esta tierra....que vivan los beatles.
Paul could be 100yo and still nail it,,,,brilliant.
I'd like to see that. I bet he could too. 😄
I was there, and it was amazing, will never forget it, wonderful!! Love Paul and Ringo always.
You are elderly
Rick Derringer and Joe Walsh playing double leads......outstanding!
Ngl yokos face at the beginning is precious

Talk about being riveted to the screen. I was so lucky to feel this good at least once.

Even Yoko is happy.
Fantastic.

EPICO
ThanQ, Paul.
Yoko actually sang on the original version (she and Pattie Boyd Harrison did the backing vocals)
And Linda
Linda sang on "Let it Be" and not on "Birthday."
It is weird that Ringo never plays drums without a second drummer.
He doesn't spend every second of his show at the drum kit, hence a second drummer
thats not terrible , whats really bad is he doesnt even put any effort in playing the songs the way they were originally played .
that's because in his shows sometimes he sings songs without drumming (like With a Little Help from my Friends or Yellow Submarine), so he always has a second drummer with him
He stands up front and sings a lot of the songs, plus, lots of bands have two drummers, it's not unusual.
Fantastic!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Como pasan los años i love the beatles 😢❤❤❤❤
Is that yoko?
Great men
ENORME AGASAJO DE EXELENCIA. BEATLES EN LA PERSONA DE PAUL MAcCARTNEY FABULOSO WOW
Ringo hasnt played that tune since 1968 most likely. You can see him referencing the other drummer a few times for changes.
Grande Paul x siempre.

I was there, and amazing night!
Do da dayum thang Paul & Ringo!
Nice Song ❤
Hey That's Joe Walsh there!
He's Ringo's brother in law
Extended Beatle Family
I wonder if he knew he was there?
Merry Christmas Eve

It's funny that Paul is the one who almost cried, not Ringo. I mean, Paul surprised Ringo on his birthday so actually you'd think that Ringo would tear up or get emotional, not Paul...
Ringo was in shock. Look at him after he throws the sticks up. He is looking at Paul "are you real, man?"
Celebrating my 52nd 🥳
Peace and love 😎✌🏼.
And there was no 80th birthday celebration due to COVID. Will there be a live one for Paul's 80th in June, or Ringo's 82nd in July?
Best of the best
I
Who's that bassist? Looks familiar.
QUE LINDO ENVEJECER CON LOS BEATLES
HAH! That Les Paul looks enormous on Derringer!
Paul still plays a mean bass.
WOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
That's because last time he played this during the studio session in 1968, so he may have forgotten about the fills.
They could do a Beatles reunion, even if George and John are not with us, their son (Dhani and Sean) are very talented and they can play very good
JULIAN
And Julian too ! Super talented.
76 GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE🌟

DAMMIT YOKO'S THERE
I think they (Paul and Ringo) forgave her now for the breakup of the band (Beatles).
So? Who's she bothering?
