And I don't get why so much complaining, to be entirely honest, even though Liz Fraser is the original singer, I do not enjoy her live renditions to this song as I do not think she sounds as ethereal as she did on the record. You're correct, a Massive Attack purist would definitely recognize that 3D is always trying to develop new sounds and alternate mixes to switch things up, one MA fan to another. But I think comparison to the original is perfectly justified regardless if it's from the same mixer or not. The newer songs as standalones on Heligoland were pretty brilliant as originals, but I prefer the originals untouched, this is just my opinion.
