yes and no, the 212a can launch cruise missiles and has the option for them in their arsenal, as it is part of their misssion specification. (btw the first uboad on the planet with dedicated submerged SAM capabilities)

Thanks for the narration, I don't have eyes.
@Yhorm that’s basically what binkov is saying for this video smh
One reason Germany subsidizes projects for the Israeli navy is also to keep the German ship building capabilities alive and constantly modern. For example, after the collapse of the Soviet Union there was a lack of orders for U Boats so to keep the German U Boat building facilities busy Germany agreed to finance part of the costs of the Dolphin class. Germany also payed one whole submarine in compensation to Israel because it turned out that Germany had previously sold ballistic missile technology and chemical weapon Iraq which were then used against Israeli cities in the Gulf war inspite of signing Missile Technology Control Regime protocols which forbade the sale of such technologies.
Yes, German shipbudinghasbeen suffering's of late, with the next gen frigates being built mostly by Dutch shipbuilders Damen, with some help from several German yards. Still compared to other shipbuilding giants in Europe such as BAE, Babcock, Naval Group, and Fincantieri, Germany needs a good boost.
I mean if Germany selling ships or leasing them to Israel helped the German economy and arms export increase to keep workers from being made redundant due to lack of cash, why not. It also helps NATO because they would rather exports arms to Israel then to China,… so people have to understand geopolitics and economics.

I don't think they're doing this out if guilt. Like a lot of countries, Germany uses its defense industry as a jobs program. But it's impolitic to actually deliver any weapons to the German armed forces. Hence they give away the products of their industry.

Those Corvettes are almost the Size of Frigates.
Must be very light frigates.
054A frigate of Chinese navy is over 4,000 tons full loaded. They have over 30 of them. Anything smaller is hard to provide area defense
Not really. Even the old german Bremen-Frigate had 3680 tons Deplacement. The German K130-Corvettes have 1840 tons, and the Sa'ar Class is kind of a younger sister of them and has 2000 tons. Modern german frigats have 4700 - 7200 tons. Ok, thats only the deplacement, but it shows that it's a long way to call them "almost frigate-size" - if you look from a german navy shipbuilders point
@@zelemas3062 Ya that's true Netherland Frigs are some of the most Advance in world they are 5000- 6500 Tons. USA Destroyers 8000 -9,200 Tons. I think that would upset some of Israel's neighbors if they got a frig. LOL Since a Frig is considered a warship

Thats a great deal for Germany. They keep developing their military industry, get their tech ou there in conflict zones where it can be 'tested' and prove itself, and recue reparations debt on top of it.
In war, having the military industrial complex ready for war economy is more important than having a military per see. Germany IS investing in its navy whenever its military industrial capabilities.

Used to think US Israel relations offer substantial support to the state of Israel. Now occasionally Germany sell Israel an entire surface fleet on a “must go today” prices.
Its just one point on a long list of things Germany pays for. Germany pays the Chinese development aid for example, let that sink in.
@Haitham Ali The Point is, that China isnt deserving of aid for several reasons and most people who get german aid buy weapons from it. Its wasted. Also A lot of middle eastern countries sided with Hitler, so the naughty stuff doesnt stick to Germans alone.

This is foolish every ship class has its role
It's not really important. You can have your navy made out of 10 fishing boats. The weapons you have on them are important. If those Corvettes have long range missiles and rocket shields on them, then a few corvettes can do a lot of harm. They are fast and easy to maneuver. They don't need ships to invade others, long range destroyers or aircraft carriers. A few good corvettes can be deadly if you have high tech powerful weapons on them. And Israel has
The Israeli navy won't be "projecting" much power far away from their shores with Corvettes. It is still clearly a defensive force.
NAVY can't be "projecting" much power far away without air support. Corvette or cruiser- it's no matter with United States Central Command; SA`AR-6: anti-submarine warfare - "corvette", anti-ship/ground missiles - "frigate" аnd missile defense - "destroyer"... In the future options may be F-35B and platform?
@@olegolkha34 Why do the Israelis need an F-35B? Are they going to the South China Sea, too? Their end of the Mediterranean is quite small and the existing Israeli air force can project power all over it. The F-35B really has no use beyond shipborne operations and PERHAPS in jungles (although it it's way too delicate for that). Anyway, the mighty USAF might not always be there.
