Based on Jeff Beck's Charvel model 6, I had an original one but had to let it go :( Jeff Beck's only had 22 frets and Jackson active single coil pickups if I remember right
Oh damn and it's not a reverse headstock?! That settles it. My Jackson SL4X is more like Becks guitar than the Charvel Spectrums of old(even though I regret selling them).
And it's gorgeous. I would absolutely buy the shit out of this *rather* than normal jacksons, because I hate the lack of pickguard on normal ones. It's a peeve of mine. I value quad-color schemes (Body, hardware, pickguard, wood/other), and having less than 4 colors on a guitar makes them look like crayon drawings to me. (See: Chapman guitars.)
the x series are shit as hell in everything, all hardware are equal to indonesian made ibanez.... i would throw everythijg from this guitar... except the body
I like the pickguard. It reminds me of the early ‘50s p basses.
Peter from Soilwork!
Y'know,Y'know,Y'know,Y'know....
"you know"
Yes, yes we do
If you know, you know.

Peter Wichers from Soilwork/ Warrel Dane right there, would love to hear some new music of his soon.
I recently purchased this very model and slapped in 3 Dimarzio's and it's literally in my top 3 players. Fantastic guitar!
Would you consider it very lightweight
No I think it's more of a medium. Sits somewhere in between the Ibanez S series and a Fender Tele in weight. Not bad at all.
I think a lot of people may not like the shark fin inlays and this appeals to them more.
Charvel did it in the 80's
You’re wright . I have a charvel like this from 1990
Where are the rest of the new Jacksons?! I'm still waiting for the David Davidson sig demo.
Reminds me of the Charvel Spectrum series from the early 90s
Thats what it is essentially...but neck through.
Jeff Becks actual Spectrum was a neck through. Go to about 3:50 and he is playing it. ruclips.net/video/JaGfW2Ifuts/видео.html
Ah...even better!
Oddly enough I didn't know this either. I've owned several Spectrums and they were all bolt on. I guess his was a custom shop model.

and a pickguard thats nots a pickguard.

The pickguard design is borrowed from 1951 Telecaster Precision BASS. So, ironically, it's one of the oldest pickguard designs.
599.00 isn't bad at all. Slap a Schaller or Gotoh Floyd on there and there you go.
If it didn't have a pickguard it would be much more appealing to me. Still kind of cool. I just got the neon orange sl3x soloist and it's sweet.
....You know?! Haha great price point, I'll have to try one out!
I want the pink one
Reminds me of the old Elliot Easton model Charvel. I'd want a proper humbucker in the bridge, but I like it.
is this cool for playing jazz fusion ?
It’s a Charvel Spectrum.
I like how he called it super "mod-able" and said you can change pickups and the bridge... ohh you mean like any other guitar??? lol
“He’s not a bad man,just ambitious”
What picks will that guard against? I think only Marty Freidman picks that close to the neck.
bdwitt66 it’s for the a e s t h e t i c

Does anybody actually use a pickguard for picks??
I'm one of those who don't play Jackson but want this model 😂 because of Jeff beck and john mayer
I hate that the rail pickups are without covers, they are hard to the touch and strings can get caught and damage the coils...
Hope to see/hear less of you on gear demos and more on stage/in the studio, Peter! Miss your music and playing terribly.
I remember Mick Jagger playing a Guitar that looked like this Years ago same colour same pickguard or very close
Charvel spectrum
sound for rock
can you take that awful pickguard off? is there any cavity underneath? horrible looking pickguard...
That pickguard what good will it do around the neck and horns it should be like all the rest underneath the pickups!
I like that color y'kno.
599 are you crazy Montana
I find it very hard to picture Jeff Beck playing this thing, it looks like sport shoes.
ruclips.net/video/JaGfW2Ifuts/видео.html Go to the last minute and a half and you see him playing it.

The cleans sound like farts but I think these look great
Like muting the strings
Definitely horrible pickup choice. Going to get one and replace middle and neck pickups with single coils.
I just got a pink one for 200
The useless pickguard...
**A E S T H E T I C**
we know we know
u no
The clean sounds terrible
The only real Soloist is a USA Soloist.
Green Meanie I own several USA soloist and it's a standard in my book.I also own several imports and the sound an play just as good.
Genuine Japanese Jacksons even play better than current USA's. Don't know if that's standard, but for my Jacksons, it's definitely the case.
the x series are shit as hell in everything, all hardware are equal to indonesian made ibanez.... i would throw everythijg from this guitar... except the body
I would remove the pickguard...it make it ugly...it place on useless position...
Same old crap
