As someone who was strung out in Portland and living at friends places, on the streets, in shitty hotels, in camps and living out of shitty illegal vehicles and an RV during covid.... you name it.... for a few months in the late 90s, another time while passing through town in around 2001. Then again for roughly a year sometime around 2007 and then finally from 2016 to 2022 this song and this band have been the soundtrack to some pitch black beautiful and horrifying times. Im clean now and living in Hawaii but if i close my eyes i am instantly transported to so many portland spots. The spots that feel like they exist in two worlds, the real world and the underworld at the same time. This band has released a ton of great music that im lucky to have found, but especially about 8 perfect songs that i realized were becoming part of my DNA in real time while i heard them for the first time.
