As a kid I used to go to Eastleigh station and watch the trains. I can still remember seeing some of the last steam engines to pass through and go into the yards.
Yet another quality video Luke! You’re getting quite a reputation with all those drivers acknowledging your camera I wonder how many of them watch your channel. Looking forward to the next video, keep up the good work.
Thanks a million Katrina, as always it’s much appreciated! There’s been some great drivers around recently so it wouldn’t surprise me. Always adds to the vids as well, next one will be even better in that regard.
Fantastic clips here mate Those Drax wagons were really bouncing at Marsden with 60026 Nice tones from some of the 66 drivers Hellfire thrash from 37425 at the end. I always make sure to fully watch your videos
Thanks mate, always like to try and include something at the end for the truly committed. That’s the first time I’ve seen the drax come round that bend at speed, they really are flying all over the place!
Cheers Dave, you and me both they’re awesome. Just got a great shot of a pair leaving Eastleigh filming for the next 24 hour episode, a loud way to start the stint haha.
Thanks for this, great to hear Concrete Bob coming for miles! of particular interest to me was the CWR train, I used to photograph them all the time when Castleton Welding Depo was open, very happy days, lots of class37 haulage.
Another really enjoyable watch Luke, some interesting different angles this time and still some nice autumn colours lineside! Some good drivers too! Keith
Thanks a lot as always Keith, I’ve lost quite a few of my spots because the Network rail site so trying to mix things up and find some new ones. Maybe one or two more vids and all the colours will likely be gone.
Cheers mate, always great to get them here in the daylight. I’m really looking forward to a trip down there, keeping my fingers crossed it will be worth the trip.
Thanks a lot Andy 👍🏻 could see the 185 on traksy from miles out and could just tell it was going to be a close one. If I’d have known how close I might have changed my spot haha.
Very strange one when I was looking back through my notes, I had to double check. I’m guessing it was cancelled but ran the rest of the way. It was on realtimetrains as a code 1 but ran on traksy with the same headcode but switched to a 5. Thanks a lot mate 👍🏻
Hello friend I had to subscribe to your channel as i have an old vhs tape on this very line called penine steam from the 1960s and its great to see that the line still has alot of train movements. great videos and plenty of action a massive well done mate look forward to more videos like this. peter from birmingham
Thanks very much Peter, I might have to see if I can find a copy of that tape. Would be very interesting to see things moving, I’ve only seen photos from back then with the old Diggle Station.
@@DiggleJunction hi ya mate if you sear ch on here for pennine steam it will come up and i will say it is a very good video the old shots are all filnmed by one man in the 60s and then comparisons of then and modern day. peter from birmingham
I seen 69002 and 60047 double headed coming through todmorden on the Drax train on the 13th of November 2023 first class 69 I've seen so far as I remember them as class 56s good video 👏👏👏🥰
I've seen a lot of class 60s around Manchester area recently so colas must have bought some more off db shenker as I've seen more than usual over the past few months.
I heard a tractor flying about the Stalybridge area but didn't see it so it must have been concrete bob 37425 i heard it but didn't see it think it was around 8th November 2023.
Really glad you picked Eastleigh for your next 24 hour Marathon. Anyway another cracking video, some interesting loco’s too, looking forward, to the next one. Did Donny & Mexborough on Thursday, stand outs been. 56105,56078, 37421, and for me star of the day 69004. 😊
I reckon it will definitely be worth the trip down, I wanted to do somewhere completely different and a mate down there has been doing great work keeping track of things for me. That’s one hell of a day out mate, some excellent catches!
Thanks a lot Geoff, can’t beat the sound of a 37 roaring away from a signal in my mind. Will really miss the 68’s, hopefully the powers that be come to some sense and get them back out in one form or another.
THE SIGNALS ! Your piece of film at 15:30 is not clear enough to see exactly which track the green signal relates too, or even the exact position of the white lights which may be above the green signal ! Firstly signals should be placed to the left of the track that they refer too, which can require the aid of a gantry to ensure they are to the left, when there is insufficient room between two tracks to put the signal post there. JUNCTION INDICATORS A green of course means the line is clear. If this signal is just before a junction, then there should also be Junction indicators on top of the actual signal. These are in the form of fingers of 5 white lights (when illuminated). The number of "fingers" and the angle of each "finger" relates geographically to the track layout ahead. If the main route is set this only requires the main signal to show an aspect none of the fingers would be illuminated. But if any diverging route is set, then one of the "fingers" will also illuminate to reveal which of the optional tracks the train is routed too. JUNCTION INDICATORS RELATE TO GEOGRAPHICAL LAYOUT OF THE JUNCTION AHEAD. There can be a maximum of six fingers on a junction signal, indicating a maximum of 6 optional routes in ADDITION to the main track the signal relates too. Fingers pointing to the left are for tracks diverging to the left. Fingers pointing to the right are for diverging tracks to the right. Further these fingers (if there are more than one) are read top to bottom in relation to routes left to right !!! GROUND SIGNAL ???? I can see no evidence of any ground signals, which are normally only around 18 inches above the ballast. Further with a main green aspect showing there should NOT be a ground signal for that track. TRAP POINTS ! The Engineers two vehicle train appears to be running on the "Wrong" line. Which must mean the track it is on, is signalled for bi-directional working. Normally in Britain trains drive on the left like the roads. The "loop" to the right has one interesting feature visible a "Trap point" which is currently set to deliberately derail any train trying to come towards the camera. For precise information on signals you'll have to get more precise film footage in future, of the actual signal. And if a Junction signal, film of the track layout ahead as well !!!! FOR THE RECORD: I'm an ex BR Mechanical Engineer, which also required me to be qualified to drive trains. Indeed I've also been a Signalman (mechanical & early computer boxes), & worked for a number of railways around the World.
@@Heavyweight37716 Fingers crossed mate! Nothing added on our line yet for the next 7 days but if they came back this way today I'd bet they do the same again with those two that went over today!

I love the rumble of the 60s as they approach.👍🏻
Yeah love it! You can hear em coming up the hill from miles away down the valley.

Thanks again Luke for another enjoyable vid. you do brave some weather for us - and 185s.

What a friendly bunch! Presumably, the 69 and 60 weren’t working in multiple on the Drax train? Very good variety, thanks.
Cheers Mike, you’re right it looked like the 69 was hitching a ride. Probably just an easy way to move the loco.
extremely well paid all of those drivers tpe drivers have a very extensive and training and route learning programme with an assesor
For sure, the TPE drivers we know are all absolute top of their game! Definitely needed for some of the tricky routes over the Pennines.

Hopefully mate, I’m going to try and make it back from Eastleigh in time although I’d be sacrificing seeing a double headed 33 tour.

Why was the 69 on the Drax train
If I remember right mate it was a convenient way for GBRF to move the loco over to Liverpool without needing to create a path etc.
See you are becoming part of the inferstructur.
Some of these drivers must think I stand on that bridge all day long I’m there that often haha.
