I have Grundig box 850a , I bought them by accident, when I connected them and listened, my eyes widened, after I looked in and looked at the filter they widened again, very good neutral sound with fast bass and attenuation
My dear, those were the top of the line Grundig speakers BUT if you wish to hear what those speakers are capable of, you need to hook them up to a Grundig discrete Amplifier (no chips) of 19 76 to 1982 such as the Grundig R45. Most R45 would need some kind of repair when sold. But spending some money on repairs loads more than worh it since you will have an exceptions system. The Maranz he is using can damage those speakers because the distortion Japs give you is A. for the Main Amp only and b. distortion measured at 1Kz nly. The R45 distortion figure is from Pre Amp in to speaker out (including the pre amp WHICH IS KEY to start with) and distortion measured at 40HZ all the way to 20 KZ running at 55RMS. I.E. No DISTORTION AND MOST IMPORTAN NO CLIPPING AT ALL. Be careful beause if you put the volume up using a Jap amp - including the Marantz, it will clip and that is what damages Grundig tweeters. Not even the Yamaha A1 Amp comes close to what the R45 can deliver. I am over 70 nw and God knows how many amps I tried. I always end up going to the R45 with the 2500 Professional A Speakers and to another system I have which is a Gundig SV7500 pre-amp connected to Grundig Active Box 30. Ask e anything if you wish. Enjoy it while you can - life is short.
@@DirectorChanel I bought it by chance very cheaply for about 75 euros, in Germany 2500 and now the current price is from 200 to 300 euros depending on the condition, there are of course random prices for those who don’t understand, both more expensive and cheaper
I don't know if the sound good. Source direct means bass and treble on flat, with no loudness I guess. In this video bass and treble sound ok for me but the mids, especially the voices, sound hollow, indirect, not airy. Maybe the reason is the recording method or the room accoustic, I don't know. What do you think about the sound of theese speakers?
sound of these speakers is incredible. however they require room big enough: at least 30m2 with sufficient sound treatment and they need at least 1m distance from the rear wall at 45cm height. for the the best result they need to be powered exclusively by grundig amplifier or receiver from the same era and they can outpreform pretty much anything money can buy today. they are very sensitive to the source and amp like this marantz in demo wont do them justice.
@@franerakic6875 thank you very much. I have a Yamaha RX 797 in my living room. It's a stereo receiver with a pretty high damping factor and enough power. It should work well with the Grundig speakers, don't you think so? Kind regards
@@jorgbornefeld1689 you can sure try it, you may get good result. but as i said before, all grundig boxes (from late 70's/early 80s) are very revealing and they were designed to be used in grundig chain. if paired with other gear they tend to show the imperfections of the amplifiers and can sound harsh and fatiguing.
@@franerakic6875 I now have a pair Grundig Boxes 1600 b. They sound very good at my receiver. My room has 36 squaremeters. Only below 50 Hz they lack a bit in the deeb base. But they are very newtral and they perform very good at all kinds of music. Do you think, the 2500 would be an improvement compared to the 1600 b?
@@jorgbornefeld1689 Grundig 1600b is decent speaker but made while Grundig was dealing with financial problems, so they had to made lot of cuts in design and parts to reduce manufacture cost of that particular series. It is not even close to previous hifi box in and professional series (in terms of sound) which had far more sophisticated design and insane attention to detail. Those are sealed enclosure speakers and as such they suffer from loss of lowest frequencies but offer far more faster and precise low end. In order to balance their response you need to put them near the wall 40-60cm depending on the height of the stand.
Llevo mucho tiempo con estos Grundig y todavía no he encontrado nada que lo supere, me gusta mas que la serie 2500a. Recomiendo, se necesita espacio y buena acústica de sala.
They are not passive radiator base speakers. The two are both woofers and each one those two woofer has a different resonant frequency such that one takes care of mid base under 1000 and the other very deep base. Howeer A. they need to be driven by one of many older discrete (not integrated chips) Grundig Amps designed for 4 ohms. These Grundig amps can deliver 50 watts RMS at 40Hz too and without clipping. (japs are 8 ohms - and cannot drive these power hungry 4 ohm speakers. They clip - which is why most of these second hand Grundig speakers are damaged - since many were driven by a Jap amp. which were no match for a Grundig at the time .) - Moreover Grundig speakers need to be placed in rooms with the correct cubic size. That is the 2500 prof. must be placed in large rooms (min 40 sqm. approx. preferably larger ), the 1500 Professional in a room - absolute min 20, peferably 30 or 40 sqm. and the 850 in a room 15 to 30 smq - always leaning against the wall (if possible). I am 70 and have played and tested for as long as I can remember. Nothing comes close to a Grundig sound if you use Grundig old discrete amp and Grundig matching speakers and a good source - a good turntable or cd player. And today it is not easy to find a good sounding CD player at an affordable price. CDs of today are generally good sounding BUT to find one that captures information from the CD with extreme precision and change them to analogue with the depth of field and sound stage and robust power even at low volumes which is Grundig can reproduce is not easy. I use a Revox 266S with op amps changed to discrete. As to the reason why you cannot place the 2500 Professional in a smaller room especially if the amp is a Grundig (which is flat down to 20HZ) is that there will be strong cancellation of bass signals apart from that the mid and high notes will be affected too - since their very light conses are constantly being rattles by the bass. It does not work. They will sound louzy - unless you keep the volume really down. But (and believe me) put them in a large room - and you would not believe how good they are. I have a pair of 2500 but stopped using them since my room is only 35 sqm and the 850 sound much better and cleaner. Anyway hope this helps people.
I have speakers Similar to these Grundigs And there are speakers Braun, their high-frequency components are different, but Grundig made them for themselves and other companies, the mid-frequency drivers are completely different, Braun sold his speakers to ADS

Top sound , this is the most unknown top brand , also the amplifiers from the '80ies...they sound like triode amps ..

Как думаете с Dual CV 120 эти колонки споются.?
Alguien sabe cuanto de sensibilidad tienen estos parlantes?
Size does matters :D They sound amazing..
