One of my favorite songs and favorite music duos of all time,Seals and Crofts performing "Hummingbird". Their official website is at www.sealsandcrofts.com/
These two are one of the greatest DUO's of ALL TIME! Their voices were simply magic together. Wish they had continued their career into later in their lives. They had SOOO much more they could have given us. We are all fortunate to be able to listen to what they did though, pure MAGIC.
Just a suggestion: Try listening to their often-overlooked earlier album, "Down Home". Some excellent material and the same musical journey(s). The same "Transitions" you speak of.
hey! if you can find the beatles 'words of love' , keep those, and use very sparingly: there's a serious shortage! but for someone like you, i bet more could quickly be invented, fashioned, but never fabricated.. derived, but not contrived! savour that *chill*, perhaps it only returns so-many-times, but there's safe ways to eternity-and-back, in fact, this track's probly one of the safest ways there-and-back:
i know, i know, i know, *allegedly*, some 'buddy', named holly, wrote words-of-love, but he gave those up and that's the name-of-the-game, cuz, oh, that's what dreams are-made-of~
Hummingbird is my favorite Seals&Crofts song along with the songs Summer Breeze and Ruby Dee&Billie Lee. This song is an example of a time when music was real--so vastly superior to the so-called music of today.
One of the most beautiful intros to a song I have ever heard. Each line keeps building you up to the beginning of the song. The lyrics are very spiritual and magical just like the hummingbird! I never tire of it. RIP Seals you found your calling in life. This is timeless music! Good for the soul!
Sitting here listening to all their music on youtube. It makes me feel so happy. Their harmonies are beautiful and I love the combination of mandolin and guitar.
Imagine seeing these guys, as opener for Crosby, Stills, and Nash...and in an open air concert that rained and rained...and nobody left the stadium...I loved it...and I wont even mention how old I was then...Great show...
Yes I am 67 I was just a kid when this song came out. when I was in Brasil last year I saw hummingbirds. Brought me back to the 70s love it love it love it. Don't even know the reason why
Oh, my gosh, you are so right. This song is so beautiful. The vocals are just so epic, my wife is watching this and is transfixed on the music. Only one SEALS and CROFT.
I went to an outdoor concert of Seals and Crofts, out in a wooded area, in the summer of 1975 or 1976 in Southern California. It was a small audience, beautiful day, butterflies floating by, and they played songs, Summer Breeze, and Hummingbird and other hits. I was in heaven... I'll never forget it!!!
@@edwardbanda9307 Blessed, not “lucky”, please. It comes from stem word. “lucifer”,& no, I do NOT use an upper case l in his name. Certainly not criticizing you, just sharing what I have learned.👍
I was born in 1970, and had the opportunity to listen to the great divergence of the music era that was the early 70's. There was Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Earth Wind and Fire, America, and a host of other Genres of music that was all quite different and all great. Disco came along and there came a convergence of music style, then MTV, which began to value other attributes than sheer musical talent. It is sad to consider what musical talent has been overlooked since then, due to secondary considerations.
That bridge portion at 2:08 - it almost takes my breath away... Jimmy was a neighbor when I was very young growing up in LA. I remember him as a very peaceful and kind man. With a keen sense of humor, and a love of puns. Godspeed, Jimmy.
TRUELY magical! What beauty in their voices,it takes you to another place! This brings back fond memories of my childhood friend! A very special person who flew away! I miss you !
Tammi me too. Last I heard, Croft is still doing well but Seals has had some major health problems (stroke) and doesn’t perform anymore. I would’ve loved to have seen them too.
Our late beloved momma, absolutely loved this song, we would sit and listen to this song, and we all would sing along. My gosh, the beautiful memories this song brings back to a more peaceful time in our lives. This song is dedicated to you MOMMA. RIP- OUR BEAUTIFUL MOMMA.
Yes, my sister and I got to meet them in 1970 or 1971... actually several times. They were the sweetest guys, their personalities are clearly accurately reflected in their beautiful music. I hear them and it always takes me right back.
When I first heard it, I thought the break was the most beautiful cord progression I’d ever heard…I still do! Such a gift to be able to create music that reaches inside you and lifts you up to a place impossible to reach any other way.
It's funny, after all these years this song comes to me every once and awhile and I just start singing it. Those two guys made beautiful music, we've been blessed to have them.
Hummingbird is my favorite bird of course. Was just telling someone that today and then this song was right slap in my face a minute ago odd. These gentlemen are so unique and cool 😎
I think this is my favorite song by them especially from the album! The Harmony on the opening lyrics captured my heart all those years ago upon first listening! ❤️ Already loving Summer Breeze and We May Never Pass...from radio airplay this song took me to a new high!🎉
Memories! Soft, sweet memories of my youth. I hear these sounds and I am transported back in time over 50 years to a time of warm summers, beautiful women, and wonderful friends.
The harmonies and chord changes in the bridge still give me chills... and well actually, so does the rest of the song as well. It's perfection. I don't know where or how people find all these old clips, but thank you!!!
What a beautiful song!! Thanks for posting, I remember it well, the 70's were probably the best era in different kinds of music for sure...I thank you, from San Diego, CA
One of my favorie song, brings back alot of memories from the old days. I use to sing it to my grandaughter about three years ago. She was 3 yrs. old and she still remembers me singing to her.

Still singing this song..loved it always ..used to try to catch hummingbirds ..picked up their nature:)) looking back ..this song is very special and their beautiful men..still have 45 and album :))
Growing up in western Ks in the 70’s we only had AM radio. Warm summer evenings dragging main listening to them on KOMA AM radio. Those were great times never to experienced again
The bridge changes they make (very, very close to one another) at 3:46 and at 3:56 (just ten seconds later!) are so unbelievably fabulous and beautiful sounding.
I can't say I listen to alot of new music, I'll tell you there are some WONDERFUL Musicians in Hawaii!!!! I've been listening to music last night thru to now. MAN!!! Una de las mejores canciones de este dúo norteamericano, y una delicia escucharlos en vivo sin play back ni arreglos, suena tan natural, tan propio y maravilloso como la ´década de los 70s
WOW does music get much better than this? What's happen 2 music of 2day. These guys take me back 2 my youth. And when I hear this song I go back to the best time of my life. I really should have enjoyed it more. Word to our future generations, especially our young women. Enjoy your youth NOW-Enjoy your figures NOW-Forget about loosing weight & caring about what media says you should look like. Remember one thing, the body U have NOW is as good as it gets. Have fun, enjoy your life. Don't wait!
as a kid in the 60's and 70's I could call the local radio station and request a song played, I would call every 30 minutes and ask that they play this exact song ... this happened so often the radio stations would hand up on me.
You can say this is a double sided solid gold hit along with the album "Summer Breeze " but their best selling album is their Greatest Hits compilation

I hope a hummingbird accompanied Jimmy Seals up to the heaven of holiness... the source of his being. RIP Jimmy Seals. You will be sorely missed :(
What a beautiful thing to say! I am sure he is surrounded with magical hummingbirds. RIP Seals and thanks for the timeless music.
These two are one of the greatest DUO's of ALL TIME! Their voices were simply magic together. Wish they had continued their career into later in their lives. They had SOOO much more they could have given us. We are all fortunate to be able to listen to what they did though, pure MAGIC.
ABSOLUTELY...WHAT A DUO... THEIR HARMONY WAS AS GOOD AS IT GETS..LOVED THEM..GREAT SONG !!!
I agree. They have hypnotized me for over 50 years. Unparalleled.
Their harmonies were ahMAzing and the build-up to that outro/transition ALWAYS gives me chills!
Just a suggestion: Try listening to their often-overlooked earlier album, "Down Home". Some excellent material and the same musical journey(s). The same "Transitions" you speak of.

I know…just hard to believe that we’re hearing what we’re hearing…every-time!
So long ago...when music mattered.
Hummingbird is my favorite Seals&Crofts song along with the songs Summer Breeze and Ruby Dee&Billie Lee. This song is an example of a time when music was real--so vastly superior to the so-called music of today.
Same here! Just one tiny correction: it's Ruby Jean and Billy Lee. So glad I lived through the years of great music like this!
no it's a formula, ruined music
So beautiful. Rest in peace Jim Seals. 💔
One of the most beautiful intros to a song I have ever heard. Each line keeps building you up to the beginning of the song. The lyrics are very spiritual and magical just like the hummingbird! I never tire of it. RIP Seals you found your calling in life. This is timeless music! Good for the soul!
I am sad that you left us. But I know where you are...
Talent like this is just ridiculous.

Such beautiful harmonies
This version of this song literally gives me the chills
Best song by Seals and Crofts ever.
Very beautiful piece of music, magnificent masterpiece from master musician
Oh, my gosh, you are so right. This song is so beautiful. The vocals are just so epic, my wife is watching this and is transfixed on the music. Only one SEALS and CROFT.
It's all about their wonderful two part harmony.
Every time I listen to Hummingbird it's almost like I'm hearing it for the first time all over again. I get the same feelings every time...
I went to an outdoor concert of Seals and Crofts, out in a wooded area, in the summer of 1975 or 1976 in Southern California. Back when there was REAL music. Thanks for sharing!
My favorite Seals and Croft song. Takes me back to college
@ Nikianne Cotton. "Hummingbird" is also my favorite Seals & Crofts song to! I was13 years old when this song came out in 1973.

Most musicians would of had the guitar track pre recorded, but it shows how talented they are !
Wonderful…played this 25 or 30 times on the last 2 months…2023! Just superlative

Spot on. I could listen to that 50 seconds for an hour.
Listening to this music sends me back in time to my high school years. Wish I could have stayed back there....life seemed so simple and pleasant.
I concur. :)
***** That's true. But besides the changing times, I think we also lose the innocence and wonder as we age.
