  • The Appointed Person course is notoriously tricky and intense in the UK - due to the amount of knowledge of cranes and lifting operations that is required for the role.
What is it that most sets you up for success on the course though?
Of course, experience, existing knowledge, education, current job role and personal skills all play a part in this - but what are the most important attributes in being successful?
Having delivered the Appointed Person course to hundreds of lifting professionals over the past ten years, in this video, I share with you what I have seen to be the most important factors in being successful on the course - then when working in the role.
Head over to our website to book a one-to-one tuition session with me, Kevin Bennison, to get yourself prepared and better equipped to be the best Lifting Operations Planner that you can be.
You can also order our new 2nd Edition Lifting Operations Pocket Assistant to keep important and helpful information to hand at all times.

Hi Paul...I'm based up in Scotland, and most of my training is either direct to companies or carried out online. Liebherr is fairly local to you down there.

It's not entirely necessary to do that...but it certainly leads to a more complete AP!

@InspHigher thanks for the reply! Just at the moment working with 360 telehandlers and smaller crawler cranes for a year now. My thought was got to learn how to walk before you run
You got a website or Facebook page?

Do I need to have experience in lifting to do this course?

Hi Dom, thanks for your comment. The awarding organisation does not require that you do; however, codes of practice state that someone in this role should 'have the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge and experience'.
      Stay safe and happy lifting
