    Very helpful and practical advice, in particular about your process with green and blue luminosity. Much appreciated.

    Great stuff. In Texas, shooting midday is a skill that must be learned, the days are long the sun is ever present! Picked up Anarogu after seeing a recent vid and really dig them for ZF files.

    Great tips!
    I live in the northeast of Brazil, where the golden hour window is very narrow year-round.
    Finding alternative hours is a must.

      Yeah similar to the Gold Coast mate. Next time I’m in Brasil let’s shoot, got some spots up your way I want to go to

    Practical content, good follow on to your post of about a year ago about portraiture in harsh light. Clever graphics and snake bit.😊 I do mainly event (e.g., festival) photography, where time of day and lighting have to be addressed ad hoc, w/o in-depth planning.
    Wish you the best for holidays. Cheers!

    Love your content - great Video! How do you do the image presentation with the black borders? Is it an extra program or can you do that straight in lightroom? Example: 0:21

    Shooting midday at a beach where the sand acts as a soft bounce is helpful. Photographing people midday summer on black asphalt or green grass in a flat open space is a whole other challenge.

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  28 дней назад +1

      Yeah totally, also depends heavily on the skin tone or color for portraits

  • @nevvanclarke9225

    I also go with the Kodak film look as well, which is a download preset I found and I'm able to use that with my Fuji and get some great images. I was recently doing some photos down the beach in midday and I was able to get some great results thank you for your video as well always enjoy what you say. The other tip that I would give is is if you get a blown out photo try and edit it in black-and-white sometimes it really works the harsh tonal changes or half shadows can work really well in black-and-white but might not make a great colour photo. The other thing to do is carry a CPL filter that can be handy in certain situations as well. There's always a solution to the problem.

    • @gerardneedham
      @gerardneedham  27 дней назад

      Yeah Black and white is wild how you can push and pull the exposure, and yeah I should probably use a CPL filter here and there to cut the light better in the highlights
