Doesn't matter. Babies benefit from being held and comforted. Touch is very important to a baby's healthy development. It provides them a sense of security. Having said this, I must add that I do agree with you on one thing: It's difficult to watch a baby cry for a long time.

Must you wrap that thing so tight? And why is it so long that you have to wrap it around him multiple tines? Swaddling may be comforting to the baby, but can also be too restrictive. His arms look like they are pinned underneath him. But I must acknowledge he stopped crying and even managed to smile! It's just that when the baby will feel he can't move his arms and legs if he wants to. Did you ever try to find out what would happen if you left his arms alone?

Our baby girl always tried to wrestle out of the blanket. Then gave up and sleep. Eventually she mamage to get an arm out. At about 5 months, we had to stop cause she hated it

I think your baby is a little older for swaddling. It's for newborn and I mean brand newborn.
It's recommended for babies four months and younger. And this isn't swaddling, what he is doing leaves more room for the baby than swaddling does.
