No one really disagrees with you using a primer when testing a foundation, the spiel is pretty unnecessary. Looking at the comments, it seems that the issue some people have is the primer you choose to use because the one's you use seem to not give you the best results for your foundation. Just an observation, not criticism.
Zoe agree!!!! I wish she would try a better primer. The one she's currently using doesn't seem to be great for her. I love that she uses primer though. I have to use primer under my foundation so it's a good comparison.
She does have very sensitive skin and can only use certain skin products. I believe that's the reason she always uses that particular primer - it doesn't break her out.
She has tried MANY primers... she has many videos of her talking about other primers and primers she used that fans have sent her, she has sensitive dry skin, and speaking as someone who also has dry skin, sometimes you need to choose between hydrating skin, and primer thats good for foundation.
I'm so amazed at how deep this foundation goes. One of my friends has a really deep skin tone. she always has to get the last color of foundation, and they are almost always too light for her. She got the second to last shade in this line and it was too dark!!! We were amazed, she took it back and got matched to the third from last last shade it matches her perfectly! I'm so so so happy that a foundation , especially a drugstore foundation, goes so deep on the spectrum.
Confession, you, Kathleenlights, Taylor from thataylaa, and Lex from MadeYewLook are the only makeup channels I actually keep up with now. Thanks for always being legit and getting super up close and intimate. Long time subscriber, but rare commenter here lol. I agree. There have been so many changes in certain beauty guru channels, and not all of them are good. The drama that surrounds some and the affiliate links shoved down my throat became too much tbh. Now I tend to follow just these really chill makeup channels that test products completely and don't actually try to sell me anything lol. I'm really glad her channel is growing, it means people are appreciating the honesty.
demibeans omg yesss and it trickles doe I got so sick of it that I decided to go to sephora myself and see what they recommend and it seemed they were just pushing popular products that people were buying based on popular youtubers I ended up at mac for my foundation for dry skin until I can do my own research! (Cassie and my other faves are oily)

mesa vera do you have blemishes or just fairly clear dry skin? If you have clear skin, the best foundations I've found for dry skin are MUFE water blend and MAC face and body. They're very sheer and natural, super hydrating. I love using them on dry skin clients. They apply very differently though, you want to really buff them in with your foundation brush bc the friction activates the waterproof properties in them, they will look streaky at first but just keep buffing and that will change.

The shade 'Pale' is the lightest foundation I've ever seen, high end or drugstore. Finally a shade that matches me!! I've tried them all, UD, MUFE, KVD, Bobbi Brown, Buxom, Too Faced, Maybelline, Revlon, It Cosmetics, Tarte, Hourglass etc etc, and none are as light as this one in the lightest shade. It's heaven for a ghost with yellow undertones like me. Just thought I'd throw that out there once you said "not the palest ever but..." haha.
Belby Blasphemy how does MUFE not shade match you?? Their foundation lines have almost 50 shades available.
Unfortunately this foundation is really bad :( Have you tried the new Wet N Wild foundation? They're fantastic, and the range of pale shades is AMAZING! :D :D
Scandi Snowgirl yea! There should be one in their ultra HD line that should match her! I freelance and I have a few pale/light shades.

Liz He they make a yellow toned mix in! They totally try to ensure that everyone can get a perfect shade for their skin tone.
Cassie, I think your skin looks dehydrated. That´s a common ignored symptom of oily skin, and sometimes it increases sebum production. I have a pretty extreme combo skin and hydration makes a lot of difference on how foundation looks on me. Korean brands have a nice variety of hydrating sleeping packs, essences an d moiturizers. XO's
i don't think you should use a primer(or atleast one that suits the type of foundation) :/ water based foundations dont typically work with sillicone based primers and vice versa. just my opinion

This IS a sillicone based foundation.... so it should have worked fine. This is just a bad foundation. Stop trying to blame Cassie because NYX made a bad product.
Artbug I don't see how it's a bad product just because it didn't work for someone with oily skin. It's not Cassie's fault, and it's not Nxy's fault.

Allison Herron - I haven't seen anyone like this product yet. Which youtuber would you recommend who does like it? The ones I've watched all had it break down on them, whether they had oily or dry skin.

Regarding the primer controversy, have you considered using primer on only half of your face when testing a new foundation?

Do you have a shade match in the "Maybelline fit me Matte and poreless" line? Thats good for oily skin... you'll be disappointed with this NYX dropper foundation: It's awful :(

I watch almost all of your foundation reviews and I get extremely frustrated every single time you talk about how you don't like how the foundation looks in your nose pores but every single video you continue to use the same primer that is not pore filling. I'm sure a lot of us here would benefit from you using an actual pore filling primer to then see how the foundation performs with it. Please take this into consideration.
Alex Thulin I do believe in one video recently she commented she doesn't like pore filling primers because they break her out. I don't remember what video but it is a recent one.

I really enjoyed the new rating system that you came up with. It never occurred to me that it would be something I'd enjoy or that I felt was necessary in your reviews. I do really like it though. I like that it's cat related and that you're basing it on several different criteria. Well done Cassie! I didn't think that you needed to change anything but I truly enjoyed it.

Ashley Nicole My current favorite one is CoverGirl Outlast All Day Primer. But it really only works with my water based foundations. But it's great!
I have similar skin to you Cassie, and I never let the primer dry completely on my skin before applying my foundation. Like you, i avoid matifying primers, as they dry my skin out awfully. As soon as the primer has sunk in, but not dried completely, i swoop in with my damp sponge. This avoids dry patches and cakey areas, and ensures the foundation (no7 stay perfect) blends beautifully. I also apply much less foundation over my nose and around it, to avoid the cakey, crusty look, that I can't help but notice that you have trouble with.
I am much older than you though Cassie, and it's taken me years to work this out. Sigh. Better late than never though eh!

I think this color spectrum is just that, not many mainstream others let alone drug stores out there offer even remotely close color options. I'm very impressed with the variety and range in color.

Because this didn't work on Cassie's oily skin, I bought it for my dry/normal skin and I absolutely adore it :) Although I understand now exactly why it's finicky to work with and definitely not a universal formula - but I really appreciate how an honest negative review can still help me find something I love.

In general do you bake under your eyes n powder your face after foundation? Baking would stop the glasses marks being as bad and powdering would help control oils :)

Hey Cassie, I was wondering if you would be willing to try out some powder foundations for review on your channel. I have extremely oily skin and when I used to wear liquid/cream foundations, they all pretty much looked horrible and wore off very quickly on me, no matter what primers/setting sprays/setting powders I used to try to keep them in place. I started wearing only powder foundations, along with my favorite primers and setting spray to lock it all in place and doing this has really changed my makeup game forever. I really suggest that you try out some powders, different primers and setting sprays to test out in the future--I know powders aren't really popular, but it would be nice to see you test one out now and then. :) My current favorite is the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin powder--it has light coverage, but stays on all day and looks amazing. Maybe try out that one sometime?

Hey beautiful! Love your videos! You are a favorite of mine for sure. This foundation looks like they're kinda doing the Younique foundation thing, and if that's the case then you're supposed to drop the foundation directly on the brush and then buff it on. just thought I'd let you know! Keep the videos coming! 😘😘
I think the little dropper holder inside the bottle is great! An Aussie brand recently came out with a couple of shades of mix in drops and I got the white one, but the dropper collects SO much product it just gets all over the neck of the bottle and you don't even need to dropper it. That plastic thing would sort of scrape off the excess!

I love your new rating system. It's really creative and effective. It's also a great way to honor your cats.
The P.A.W.S. rating system is awesome! My only suggestion is maybe rate out of 10 instead of 5, that way there is a little more room for "the high or low end of average." Just to better understand your thought process? lol, it probably doesn't actually matter, just a thought. Anyway, love you, your cats and your videos! You make my day all the time :)

I had the same result when using the NYX Stay Matte but not Flat Foundation and I have the same skin type as you Cassie. Once I finish it I'm gonna buy the Revlon Colorstay thanks to you and your love for it. Also, I love the rating system. And Fig is getting so big and fluffy!!

For the foundation on your eyes all you have to do is powder your eyes and I think it makes it look a lot more flawless cause you don't see any veins or anything on the eyes, also if it creases at first before you powder you can just wipe it away. That's obviously personal preference but I was just letting you know in case you wanted to make the foundation on your eyes work. Love youuuu!

Why this foundation annoys me: They tell you to use their brush and I've seen other RUclipsrs "strongly suggest" that you use the NYX brush made specifically for this foundation, but you can't buy the brush anywhere. As far as I know, NYXcosmetics.com is the only place that sells it. Why wouldn't you sell it in stores or at least on ULTA's website? Ugh! (Someone feel free to correct me if they've seen it sold anywhere else. I have looked, and looked, and looked.)
Kristine Lang I've seen the brushes at Ulta when they 1st put the display out. They were in a lil cup next to the foundations. But they had about 25 boxes of foundation and about 5 brushes!!! 😐😒😠
Kristine Lang I bought the brush when I bought the foundation at my local Ulta. I didn't notice difference between the NYX brush and my Real Techniques foundation brush after it was on my face. I didn't like it, personally. But I don't think it's for oily people who wear glasses.

I have the foundation already, but I don't even remember if I tried it yet. I literally have about 7 different foundations that I bought (or received samples of) that I want to try. I have very oily skin, but it's much better in winter. I think having the heat on in the house makes a huge difference, so I've had to totally revamp my entire skincare and makeup routine.
kyorrrl I don't think it's for dry skin either. Every person I've seen this on has any dry patches on their face looking extremely visible. I guess it's just for normal skin types

Cassie, I use setting spray & powder to keep my concealer & foundation on my oily/combo skin. So far, any foundation or concealer set with powder & a setting spray should extend your makeup a little longer. I always had a problem keeping anything on my oily/combo skin & watery eyes. I’m gonna try out the Nyx foundation drops; I picked up two shades, Porcelain & Vanilla from Ulta beauty😍
