I am shocked that Adam didn't use this as another platform to bury Dom Ducharme. I feel like maybe he was looking for his opening to do it, and didn't get it in before this clip ended 😂
The question is... when will Montreal become a modern team? They need to bail on the french management thing first and foremost, they need to build a team that can compete in the regular season as well as the playoffs, and they need to move on from the Price-Weber era and into a rebuild. Nobody in the league is afraid of big guns Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki rolling into town. Gallagher, Toffoli, Drouin, and Anderson are all decent second and third line guys but that forward group just can't compete with Florida, Toronto, Tampa, or Boston in their own division. Compared to the rest of the league's best in Pittsburgh, Washington, Colorado, Vegas, and Edmonton, the Montreal Canadiens are laughable. Bergevin needs to be told that the Habs have placed in the bottom half of the league (24th and 18th) the last two years, they just caught teams on their back foot last year. Sure they aren't last place bad, but the aren't playoff team good. Do they realistically want to continue being a bubble team for the next 5 years or do they want to try again to build a top 10 team?
Whats wrong is that MTL got lucky the last 2 seasons... If 2020 had gone normal, they were on the outside looking in.... and let's be real... last year if the alignment had been what it normally is (and what it is again), then MTL would NOT have made the playoffs last year either... they were the 18th team in pts.. but because they were 4th in their division, with the alignment.. they got in... and this offseason, they didn't get better... they lost Weber and Price and a few other and only added 1 or 2 guys... I think the real problem is... the veil has been lifted and we are now seeing the real MTL Canadiens hockey team for the first time since the covid shutdown. We need to remember.. post shutdown, they let 24 teams in and MTL was just under the cut.. the Sabres (yes, those guys) were only a few points behind them and if they had played 1 more game, might have flipped their places.... So I'm not surprised at this point.
It’s the Curse of ‘93! After they took Gretzky’s Cup away with some lame grandma rule about a “curved stick”; well, when was the last time Canada has won Lord Stanley’s?
well as the cup was first a Canadian challenge cup the appropriation by the NHL may be described by many as not what was intended, but that is semantics
No Canadian franchise needs to win the Stanley Cup there are more Canadians on the Stanley Cup then US players so realistically the franchise doesn't need to win it,
Hoffman was in the lineup last night, got 3 shots on net. Still, only 3 goals in 4 games. But, every time you think Bergevin has painted himself in a corner, he manages to find a way out. Slippery Dude.
A team having this bad a start to the season after getting to at least the Conference Finals would be notable but not catastrophic (See also, Tampa and the Islanders) but the fact that one of these losses came against the Goddamn Buffalo Sabres who are also, for whatever reason, now on a 3 game win streak starting with that loss it becomes an honest to God case of "What the Hell went Wrong?"
What's wrong? They just aren't a good hockey team. They were 18th place with the best goalie in the league last year... Now the best goalie in the league isn't playing... it is not hard to understand.
I disagree with Dangle on this, even Bergevin will realize this has to be re-tool year. Too bad we don't really have any free-agents to trade like we would have last year
In terms of aiming to acquire draft capital, the best trade card is probably Jake Allen, who would be a great asset for a team heading into the playoffs that wants some extra net strength. Chiarot's contract is up this year and could also be traded, but he'd really have to up his game after this miserable start to fetch anything (though granted, in the playoffs the rulebook gets thrown out, so that'd minimize his weaknesses).
Bergevin should be fired - he has been with the team how long and what has he done to make this team competitive. The team is far worse this season compared to the team that went to the finals last season. He keeps bringing in these has beens that were decent players, but years ago. Look how Dorion has turned the Ottawa team around in , like, 2 to 3 years. Get rid of him I say and get someone in there that knows what they are doing.
They aren’t good. They weren’t good last year but put together a run on the back of price after the leafs quit in game 5. This is the Montreal Canadians, this is exactly who I knew them to be
Seeing that this video came out 3 hours ago I really thought they’d bring up San Jose shutting them out 5-0... also I think Montreal making the finals was a fluke courtesy of covid realigning the divisions. They should’ve never made it that far
I for one am begging for a few years of top draft positions... I'm sick and tired of mediocre mtl patchwork roster. Finishing barely in or just outside playoffs for decades with 15-20 draft ranking coin flip picks year after year gives me migraines... cherry on top , the one occasion they get at 3rd overall, they frikin pick position !!!! How can you not draft the better player when you got holes everywhere!?!?!?! Tkachuk gonna wear the C in the same division while kk gets waved by ANOTHER team at some point....
Nothing wrong with them if you calculated the point from last year they were supposed to finish 10 in the east that mean you suck but since covid hit they took advantage of that but overall they suck
The answer is that they're not very good. It was a little bit of a streaky run obviously. They didn't have to play an American team to get to the finals
@@HunterMagunter bro they only needed to beat Canadian teams to get to the cup finals. That meant they had to get through some combination of Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton in 2 series. Every other team in Canada sucked ass last year. You're telling me that's a grueling road to the finals? Lol
