    Them boys from my home town, Hampton, VA, home of the 1st fighter wing ,LANGLEY, I remember when the gulf War started, seeing those f-15c ,KC tankers,and f-117, the power and force of them leaving for many there 1st deployment to battle was a amazing sight and sound.

    Can anyone confirm the nozzle intake duct movement is actually happening and not just a camera movement or image stabilization thing?

    • @StephenWoodOriginal
      @StephenWoodOriginal 5 лет назад +2

      Yes it is. Controlling the flow into the engine.

    • @jameslanning8405
      @jameslanning8405 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, the intake ducts are moving. They help establish the best angle for the engines in hard maneuvers, to prevent engine stalls and "flame-outs."
      The aircraft has the ability to fly the engines beyond their ability to function! So the "vectored intakes," allow the engines to get the air they need, when the aircraft is dancing all over the sky!
      Vectored intakes and vectored thrust nozzles make the F-15 capable of doing what it could not without those technologies...

    • @amackdaddy34
      @amackdaddy34 5 лет назад +1

      Christopher Leveck Yes because PW Engines suck and need extra help from the aircraft to prevent stalling . ( I’m stationed at the base currently and work on the engines)

    • @jameslanning8405
      @jameslanning8405 5 лет назад

      @@amackdaddy34 I think just about any engine would be in a stall range, inside those ducts, if they remained rigid...
      P&W or any others...
      But they offer the engines the best flow of air, in different angles of attack of the aircraft...

    • @christopherleveck6835
      @christopherleveck6835 5 лет назад

      Hey guys, thanks. Brain fart on my part. I knew most of this I guess I just never seen them actually move before.
      I did learn a couple things though so i appreciate it.
      A close friend of mine in high School actually flew them out of Egland for 7 years.
      Living in Oregon I get to see them go over head once in a while flying in and out of Portland with the air guard.
      Still in most amazing aircraft ever built and retired with a spotless air-to-air Victory record never lost one to an enemy aircraft in what, 40 years?
