The fact that the bishops can't see yellow is pure genius. Yellow represents the color of the sun, natural, true light, as opposed to neon lights in the city. Yellow means happiness, freedom. The bishops can't comprehend the notion of happiness since they are literally embodiments of negative feelings. Thus, they can't see yellow.

His opinion of Bandito is what I thought when I first listened to trench but over time it’s become one of my favorites. It has such a pretty sound while being an incredible 4th wall break of the entire album and how the album as a whole fits into what he is saying. It’s truly amazing.

The guy who produced and co-wrote a lot of Trench is Paul Meany, the lead singer of Mutemath. Their music is well worth a listen as well!
You can hear his influence on the production of Redecorate from SAI as well. It's one of the reasons to me that song just sticks out so hard.
Love his production. I hope he produces on a whole album again like Trench. Whatever he touches turns to magic.

NEON GRAVESTONES WENT FROM LEAST FAVORITE TO ONE OF THE FAVORITES
The live version of Bandito is actually a little shorter than the studio version, and I think the parts they shorten are the right parts and it doesn’t drag quite as much. Might be worth checking out to see if you agree.
They skip the first verse which I think defo is better

The crispyness and quality of the audio on trench is immaculate
Omg i just realized that Tyler in the sai story is in the same position as clancy before his death; wrapped up in the dema propaganda, seemingly submitting to the bishops and vialism.
This is actually quite eerie and frightening...
I can only imagine what hell will break lose in the next album where tyler HAS to escape dema or... he literally dies, if the logic adds up at least. Then again, we learn a lot from the perspective of the bishops and they obviously aren't the most hones and nice dudes.
Maybe clancy isn't dead, and neither will tyler die. Maybe that's just what the bishops want to make us believe when someone actually manages to escape.
And if that's the case, the next album has to be even more raw and painful than trench, since it's about entering totally new terrain, beyond trench, beyond the in between that has a connection to dema, which is, while also horrible and manipulative, a home that offers comfort.
Whatever happened to clancy, if he didn't die, has to be completely cut off from dema.
While on the surface, this may seem like what we aspire to, it also bears unknown challenges and threats.
Long story short: i'm excited!

one thing i love about legend is it kinda is apart of the storyline too because at the end of neon gravestones tyler talks about celebrating life, appreciating the older generation and in legend he appreciates his grandfather so i just find that to be so sweet!!

I actually was certain SAI was not gonna live up to how good Trench was. And thats exactly what happened for me. I just dont click with the pop sound...so i just dont really like SAI. Still love the boys though and i do really like Redecorate.

Hear me out, the synth fast part of Bandito in the middle of the night in your car all the way up driving through a city. Lol cause that was what made me fall in love with that song. It came on shuffle one night while I was driving and I was tok tired to skip it and I had one of the most magical experiences of my life lol

Y’all gotta think about it. In Neon Gravestones Tyler tells us to find our grandparents or someone of age and to thank them for staying alive despite the many struggles of life and mental illness and problems. That’s how Legend has its place in the album in my opinion. Trench is about having people by your side, people who have your back. Scaled and Icy is about being alone or being stuck but Trench is the opposite of that. You can also apply this to Smithereens because we can say Tyler has his wife Jenna with him. One last thing to note is that in Morph even Josh gets his little shoutout and that’s Tyler’s best friend so I really believe Trench is about community and having your loved ones with you

He’s trying to be enough, and what he says when he makes that effort is:
“what a beautiful day for making a break for it”.
That isn’t much of a plan, it’s literally saying “what a nice day it is, let’s start a revolution right now”. He’s being careless while wearing his rebel clothes.

Yes. I've actually been to i think 3-4 shows with her on that tour. I went to 8 shows across 6 states between 2018-2019 lol. She went all over the country for this tour. Love Tina so much.

Yes, that’s exactly what I did! After graduating college in 2019, I treated myself by having a wonderful year traveling the US and seeing shows with my friends (and making lots of new ones along the way)!! I saw them 10 times in 2019 and 16 times total. In 2019 it was Memphis, Indianapolis, Columbus x2 in June, Chicago (lollapalooza) in August, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Denver, and Las Vegas in October, and Chicago (their last concert before the pandy) in December.
It was the best year of my entire life and I’m especially glad I was able to do it before the pandemic shut everything down. Memories and friends that I will cherish forever! I’m so grateful. Needless to say, the shows and environment they create are absolutely addictive. There’s no other feeling like it. It feels like home to me at this point.

You know quality when you go back to listen after a long break and discover new elements that are perfect.
That final rating still doesn't disappoint honestly, though I think Trench is a masterpiece, I 100% understand that view.

I knew about a lot of the lore when I first listened to this album. I was in class and I just started crying when listening to it. My best friend who was in the same class (and loves Twenty One Pilots as well) immediately asked me if I was listening to Leave The City.

Before retracting to SAI, maybe check out the most recent Zane Lowe interview with Tyler. He got really specific on his writing style and why Trench had to be what it was after Blurryface and why SAI was not going to be Trench. It’s a pretty long interview at 50 mins or so but a good listen.

Hey Brad, if you like I can give you the whole history and backstory to twenty one pilots, as i have been a fan since 2013, and researched their band existence since 2008 roughly, it goes deeper and is more life chargingly heartfelt than you probs know yet, anyway it will give me a good distraction as I'm off uni for a lil bit, up to you, if you hate em, its all good, trust me ive hated em for a long time too lol, and also, love your channel and reviews to bits, you actually got me through a really dark time in 2018 so i wanna say thankyou and keep it up you have all my support mate, love from Australia
