    Marc, if you’re hoping to keep the original engine, skimming the block face, skimming the head face, new pistons, you will have some height issues with the piston crowns. You then have the option of using a spacer head gasket or taking thous off the piston crowns and making up spacers to go under the rocker bar to get the pushrod geometry back to correct.. -A very interesting engine build, please stick with it.

      Yes we have spoke about the possible issues we might face so let’s see how it goes and what comes off the machining process. I will keep you all updated. Cheers

  • @mohabatkhanmalak1161
    @mohabatkhanmalak1161 9 месяцев назад +1

    You want to keep the car as original as possible, but if the engine and the other spare unit does not work out consider a much later Volvo engine of about 1800 to 2000 cc capacity. Volvo OHC engines from about the late 80's to 90's, which had aluminum heads, other improvements and outputing more power and torque.

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  9 месяцев назад

      That’s the plan to a point, I want the engine to have period 60’s mods so it will go nicely but be in-keeping for the car. Many people have mentioned about doing a restomod style car but it’s not for me on this car. If you keep following the channel you will see a build like this in the future

  • @103erik

    Nice to see some Amazon content. I'd send the block and head to a machine shop, have them advise you. If the block can't be made good then source a good used B20 to rebuild. Have fun! Look forward to the next episode!

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  9 месяцев назад

      That’s the plan buddy once we know more I will update you all. But I am hoping the block can be saved and I can build a nice period modified 60’s engine 🤞

    A supercharger makes a heavenly noise but don't do it to this car, period correct is the tuning way to go. Beanie's are awesome when you're bald, although my baldness is a choice, don't personally like the hair colour. This new shop is so much more homely and looks nice to be in.

      i took mine apart about 10 years ago ,and have trouble remembering how stuff goes back together.(like the route of the speedo cable).
      As i said before mine was a complete strip down to just a bare shell.

  • @reddcocker64

    I love the idea of keeping a period look to the engine. Deck the block and skim the head to clean those surfaces up and increase compression. Overbore to clean up the cylinder bores and add a few more CCs. You can get a hot road/performance cam. All that would work well with that twin carb manifold.

    • @SimpsonsClassics

      That’s the plan buddy keeping it period to the 60’s. Hopefully the block is saveable and it goes nicely 🤣
