At 3:33, you say you put in "both" of the sd cards into the device. What is on the second sd card? You only show the steps of loading one sd card with the Stock OS (?).
As I was experimenting with the install as I recorded, I didn’t do it in the order as I show in the video to avoid confusion. 🫣 Around 5:34, I show what I do with the second card, and how to format it. My first card is 32gb and second card is 64gb. The second card gets a bunch of folders added by the system where you can add media like games or books. The second card is also what triggers the GarlicOS to run. But games can be added to either card or both. I added games to both cards to test how it worked.
@@techbacon Thanks for the info. This is by far the best, most thorough step by step instructions. I've been struggling with my RG35XXH for over a week. I have two cards, 16gb and 256gb. Hoping to get the OS on the first and roms/bios on the second. Again, deeply appreciate the video and written out guide as well. You're a lifesaver.
So I was finally able to get through the whole video and steps. Am I understanding this correctly: if using two different size sd cards (16gb and 256 gb), TF1 should be the larger of the two? Since that will hold the BIOS and Roms, whereas TF2 will just hold the OS? (Other guides showed them in reverse so getting conflicting info, but guessing that it depends on the OS)
@isaaczepeda3847 Firmware is on the first SD card, which is the flash step using Balenca Etcher. Second card is for extra storage. It’s also where GarlicOS files will be stored if you want to use it. But both cards can hold games. The first card will have the BIOS information yes.
Also GarlicOS is so buggy right now, I recommend using the stock firmware. The TF1 instructions give you an updated fresh stock install. TF2 step + boot loader is only if you want to run GarlicOS. If you only want to run Stock firmware, the OS it comes with or updated version (Step TF1), then the second card is just for extra space.
i followed this video literally exactly and it's not working - just boots up stock OS and creates a bunch of folders on the TF2 card. i made sure to put the device resources and dmenu.bin files in the volumn disk on the TF1 card. any suggestions?
Anything for the windows user?

have you changed the init.txt to init ?
@3li.B good call... the init file should be in the boot folder on TF2 as well.
