Seing Minecraft in a 4:3 aspect ratio was a real throwback to my old, square IBM thinkpad I used to play on. Complete of course with the little red dot you could use to control the mouse
I find trackpads insufferable, so having it on my ThinkPad is amazing for this kind of stuff. "But what about left click and right click?" Set them to keys I and O respectively, they're not used during normal gameplay. No mouse needed!

For more performance, you should consider using Sodium and Iris on the Fabric Mod Loader. It should yield more performance than optifine which is rather archaic
Everyone knows Optifine, so it’s performance is easy to benchmark, If I did it I’d go into that side if I wanted to fps chase and squeeze ever frame out
Sodium and Iris could ironically be problematic because they use newer/more advanced OpenGL features… that’s only an assumption, though, I don’t have a 310 to test

Man that £5 GPU reminds me of my old GTX 560 Ti, It struggled to stay around 25 FPS! ..And it would shut down after it hit a super hot temperature. After I replaced the thermal pads it actually stopped and started to stay above 30-50 FPS and not shutdown. That taught me how important replacing old thermal pads were.
TNT explosions in Minecraft are more CPU intensive, as the game needs to calculate what blocks will be removed from the area of destruction, and in Minecraft this takes quite a bit of calculations. Graphically, it only spawns a bunch of 2D particles, which won't make that much of a struggle even for a GPU this bad. True torture test for 310 in Minecraft should be render distance test, especially with several fancy mods that allow for extending visible distance to several thousand blocks. And that is with the graphics set to Fabulous, of course

That's why we need some LOD solution, like Distant Horizons in Vanilla Minecraft without mods. You wouldn't have to live with less than 6-8 chunks of render distance if Minecraft used LODs.

I'd love to see you strap a huge cooling plate and fans on this to see how far it can go. Maybe even a waterblock and custom loop? Or modify a 120mm AIO to do the cooling?
Some shaderpacks I like, including potato friendly ones: - Photon: looks good, runs pretty well - Complementary: looks great. many settings and presets. can probably run on a GT 730 in potato preset, but stress a 1070 on high/ultra - MakeUp UltraFast: looks pretty decent, runs really well
To be fair, there changed a lot between back when this shaderpack was new and today, both in terms of Minecraft under the hood performance and optifine itself. Would've been interesting to see you trying to compare it to the other shadermod Iris. But understandable that you wont dive into minecraft modding for a short video :)
I remember playing minecraft back in 2012 or so with an amd radeon 3650 and shadows + fancy water shaders. Somehow it ran decently well. The 310 is probably way worse than a 3600 though. I'm surprised you didn't go with something like a 710.
If you keep your fps uncap in Minecraft it reduces performance by a lot ( Minecraft Logic ) and maybe you could try with sodium it's a better alternative to optifine other than that nothing to complain awesome video
Id honestly recommend using sodium and iris shaders for these kinds of things, optifine can be kind of bloated at times and sodium makes better use of the GPU (although that may not have done much in this scenario lmao)
I dunno how much intense Sidurs extreme shaders are compared to SEUS'' another fun fact I forget the exact version but they did change the opengl backend at one point, and the old version of MC would infact run on a netbook cause of the old opengl
Pro tip: Sodium + iris is a better alternative to optifine. Also if you want to test different game versions with shaders the AT launcher makes that really easy, and doesn't make you install Java
What integrated graphics would you say this is comparable to? I'm fairly sure the iGPU in my i5-7200U and 7260U systems would smoke this! On the other end, what older cards would it be comparable to? I have a GT 710 in a Core 2 Duo system with Windows XP and plan to do some testing to see how it compares to the GeForce 6800 GT I had back in the day just to see how times change!
@@bighmm6301 Crazy. There's what? 5 years between the 2 and Intel isn't exactly known for good iGPUs. I've got a Kaby Lake NUC and I've tested a few games on it, the most impressive thing I've run on it is Far Cry 3 at 1080P and low settings and it runs every bit as well as it did on XBox 360.

I have learned that minecraft is the most unpredictable game, somehow my current 7900gre performs the exact same as the gtx1070 I had in 2020 and both are surclassed by the 5700xt I had about 1y ago.
The real question is how old of a system can you get modern minecraft to be playable (30fps average) at 1080p? I'm guessing athalon 64 (maybe x2) + a nvidia geforce 6800 or similar. So 2004/2005 vintage. The FX series is probably way too shitty. Hopefully it will run fine on an older gl2.1 graphics card. Probably best to go with some very lightweight linux OS for that, with easy support for installing older graphics drivers. I'd suggest arch, but xubuntu or something would also probably work.

Minecraft Java Edition is known for being one game that runs significantly better on Linux than Windows, possibly because it's using the OpenJDK that comes with the OS rather than whatever embedded thing Microsoft puts in or possibly because Linux's OpenGL stack is better. if you try to use some different shaders, try to watchout for graphics effects, that are more inline with a DX10 feature set, than a DX11, the card supports dx11 but only on feature lvl 10_1

I just built a budget pc but it has no igpu, But then I found a gt710 1gb ddr3 in one of my my friend's computer scrapyard guess this will do for now until I earned enough for a gpu. Surprised the gpu can run Minecraft at 1080p 12 chunks and it can manage 80-100+ frames with no shaders ofcourse.
I have question for my amd Rx 6650 xt that I have a game NFS heat from dodi repack and after installing the game and starting it start some rendering issues like skyboxes start to glitch and after restarting the game the starts to get normal what is problem is my GPU have issues or game because all driver are up to date
lol only at 1200fps is a 60-70% loss not much of anything :P I blew up an HD6870 running uncapped on Halo: Combat Evolved too long last year. It was hilarious dancing around the 30fps AI at 10x+ their rate, but my cheap stock cooler never touched the VRAM…

I had a RTX Quadro m2000, it's very similar in terms of performance to your GTX 560 ti

More recent shaders tend to be optimized for Iris and Oculus.
Would have loved to see Sodium being used instead of Optifine and maybe less intensive/performance friendly shaders. Seus is more intensive afaik.

You can try the SEUS PTGI (thats a version with path-tracing), the 310 will certainly explode xD

A 310 is half as powerful as the lowest end Kaby Lake integrated graphics.

You should try a shaderpack called "makeup ultra fast" it is the most optimized one that I know

It would be interesting to see if you tried a 8x8 texture pack like bare bone or faithful 8x8. It might help with VRAM issues.

edit: when you blew up the tnt, cpu usage jumped from 9-10% to 18% the first time at 480p
Such a test makes far more sense with a performance modpack like FO, but I doubt it would help much.
