She rarely went past you since the second hit tracked back into your model as you were ducking, stopping her from flying past. So from veeeery rarely getting past you to always doing it with faster recovery is what's happening here.
Suggestion: 1. Revert the changes of the last patch 2. Make the followup duckable if the knee hits on its first and maybe second active frame. The first hit by itself should be up to -9 on block. Players already found a solution with sidestep duck if Azucenas WR32 is telegraphed. This change would just remove it beeing mindlessly spammed in your face while still allowing mindgames and pressure up close for Azucena. Maybe that is not perfect but it is worth trying out Bamco!

I think literally everyone that faced that move thought "the tracking on the elbow is the problem." It's insane that the Bamco devs went "well let's just make it not come out then" without even a moment's pause to think about the ramifications of that change.
Yes! They did buff. My confusion lies in the fact that they made it safe on whiff. If it was overpowered, why would the solution be to make is safe. Doesn’t anybody else have a WR move like this? Assuming I don’t fk up my input and den with Lars, I’m getting punished on a sidestep. The solution the the second hit tracking was not to send it after a target on the other side of you. When that knee gets sidestepped, the proper action is for that follow up to also whiff while she remains in place to eat a punish. Also, is that WR move one input or do people have to commit to the follow up after the knee? Not that it’s much of a commit since you’re safe.
I think it's WR 3,2 but if the knee whiffs the elbow won't come out even if you input the 2. Pre sure that's what it said in the patch notes haven't tried it myself though so not 100% sure

I just experienced this in a local tournament. I'm a Raijin Lili, and went up against Azu in set 1. I took the first match, and then the player started using while running 3. This was my first time seeing this move since the patch, but I noticed immediately how easy it would be to abuse. Luckily, the player was just better than me, and used other moves while mixing the running 3 in, but every time I'd step it, I just wanted a decent punish, and it was definitely frustrating being told by devs, "we agree this move is overtuned, here's the version," and it's even stronger ha
I can't think of a single situation where I'd prefer a backturrned opponent 100 miles away, over just a straight up launch on a hard read. It's not even better at the wall, since best you're getting is a backturned wall splat which doesn't lead to anything good. Balance teams very simply have buttery smooth brains. Every single "fix" was done without even a minute bit of foresight into the repercussions. DEN 3 on Lars. DJ's floor break setups etc.
The main thing they wanted to stop is azu being able to run up and have an move out from the knee and elbow for half of the screen. This is only an issue if they do it point blank.
So question .. 1. do players want this move more side step punishable 2. Do y’all prefer it to be a high instead of a mid? Then it’s duckable. 3. Or change other frame properties of the move, like maybe make it unsafe off of block so then it’s more of a high risk/high reward type of move. Me personally 1 or 2 would be fine. So then it doesn’t kill the move completely for Acz players.
I think option 1 is what will happen while option 2 is an interesting twist. You can avoid this setup/mixup characters best tool to stick unto you but you risk getting hit by mids.
This is funny and all but what about character specific punishes? What about wr 3 which is usually is an airborne attack or just simply run up for a bt grab?
Maybe it's just me but this never gave me problems pre nerf. Ive been able to SWR with pretty consistent success. Nothing fancy at all...just a properly timed SWR. I even have a FT5 on my channel where i stepped it cleanly at least 3 times (FT5 VS DEEZE on my channel). There has to be others that this move did not give problems. It is absolutely a strong move, but her evasive CHs and that blasted power crush heat engager are what gives me the most trouble from her.
Im definitely starting to think T8 wasnt balanced by the same team or person. In the same game you have Steve's lionhart stance which even top level Steves like Heera Low High can't make evasive. It Always gets clipped by jabs or power crush and puts Steve in a disadvantage. Then you have Azucena WR32 after which she can easily evade backturned attacks now. Eventhough in tekken not even T5 characters ever had this backturned invincibility privelege. The Azucena auto parry is a spit on the faces of Steve's Lionhart stance.

This is crazy man lol but similar to xiayou bc she also has back parry and setups into it to make some setups safe(with parry)
Azu is gonna be the first banned character from tournaments. Calling it now 😂
8 Azucena's in top 8 at EVO Japan 2024.
"Choose Azucena" - Winner of Japan Evo 2024
No way. If they didn’t ban Leroy they’ll never ban Azucena. Launch Leroy was much worse.
Azu Japan 2024
I just experienced this in a local tournament. I'm a Raijin Lili, and went up against Azu in set 1. I took the first match, and then the player started using while running 3. This was my first time seeing this move since the patch, but I noticed immediately how easy it would be to abuse. Luckily, the player was just better than me, and used other moves while mixing the running 3 in, but every time I'd step it, I just wanted a decent punish, and it was definitely frustrating being told by devs, "we agree this move is overtuned, here's the version," and it's even stronger ha
This ppl is going to end making hellsweeps launch on block
More recovery frames after a whiff on running 3, easy fix.
The "nerf" to Azucena's WR+3,2 is the biggest Monkey's Paw Wish that Namco has ever pulled on us.
What about waiting for the recovery frame after the parry animation ? Like a whiff punish to the parry ?
I can't think of a single situation where I'd prefer a backturrned opponent 100 miles away, over just a straight up launch on a hard read. It's not even better at the wall, since best you're getting is a backturned wall splat which doesn't lead to anything good. Balance teams very simply have buttery smooth brains. Every single "fix" was done without even a minute bit of foresight into the repercussions. DEN 3 on Lars. DJ's floor break setups etc.
keep it like before but make the elbow a high that's duckable after blocking the mid
The main thing they wanted to stop is azu being able to run up and have an move out from the knee and elbow for half of the screen. This is only an issue if they do it point blank.
MainMans Blood Pressure cannot take the Bullshit of Tekken 8 😭💀
I dont often complain about stuff. But that parry from the back... Thats just not fair.
Honestly the best way to nerf her is literally removed the knee and making her start up parry stance longer to get counter. That it's ^^!!!
He put DEEZ in the thumb nail💀💀💀
I was waiting for this after PhiDX's vid
Seen like 3 azucenas in my month of playing this game just made it to battle ruler so waiting patiently to vs a decent one 😅
Same balance team as the one that gave akuma the only best wall oki trying to remove his wall oki.
Lmao she takes that train to Senegal.
Always assume malice when there is incompetence
why are we here just to suffer
*namco releases cash shop, then battle pass*
THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE!!
Facts
we are truly in the dark days of tekken
Hope this video reach out the devs, so they can take this feedback and nerf leroy
Eid Mubarak main man
So question ..
1. do players want this move more side step punishable
She goes far enough away from some characters to do the flying knee again after parry
This is funny and all but what about character specific punishes? What about wr 3 which is usually is an airborne attack or just simply run up for a bt grab?
I never 1 & done in a set but with azucena & dragunov i'm thinking to do so until they fix it
I rather get that parry...then not being able to step it...but it still needs to be punishable of course.
Thanks for the vid tmm.
Another day of missing bruce
First min of the video is the best😂😂😂. We all been there
Maybe it's just me but this never gave me problems pre nerf.
I finally got a bit confident in countering the WR3,2 when they were predictable, but now it's basicially a safe move then? xD
I dont play Azucena for wr32 spam, I play her for Libertador and Backturn stance shenanigans
You play her because you are a virgin
meanwhile no one complains about bunch of other moves doing the same thing. For example dj fly 1
The game where Leroy wasn’t strong and he just gets gutted.
9:29 why chat suddenly mentions Hanlon's Razor principle that isn't even applied here
this is the same as dragunov heat smash if you step it he travels to north pole
Cmon man even dragunov while running and hwoarang peacekeeper can be side stepped
