But the reason is at the end of the day, Ongsa doesn't understand her (mainly because she's too insecure about herself to really believe Sun loves her for her) and Ongsa is making decisions for her based on her own insecurity. She can't even see Sun's sincerity because she(Ongsa) doesn't believe she's worthy. I think Sun wants Ongsa to understand that herself is enough and be more proud of their relationship. It almost feels like Sun's dating someone who is her fan not someone who loves her.
yeah but sun outed 3 different people to ongsa's parents and THAT acted as the turning point for her. In an unluckier situation it could have been really bad for aylin and ongsa but luckily it wasn't, ongsa isnt in the wrong for wanting to come out to her parents on her own terms and she isnt wrong for wanting to not share certain things, AND sun is allowed to be hurt BUT she could have pointed out how ongsa's insecurities were holding ongsa back in a completely different way which didnt involve making her feel guilty about not wanting to come out to her parents??? Ongsa was never embarassed, infact sun made sure to reassure ongsa when she confided, asking ongsa to inquire about her feelings everytime she tried to "protect sun" on her own also means sun has to be willing to share her own feelings with ongsa. Communication goes two ways.

@@syeonkr yes communication does go two ways, which ongsa wasnt really providing much of either. sun cant read ongsa's mind while ongsa cant read sun's either thats why ongsa just acted upon her own feelings and didnt take into account how sun was feeling herself. the outing part was definitely an iffy moment in this as i do also think that the writers should've written that in a way that wasnt super detrimental to sun's character. but i still genuinely think that sun shouldnt be wholly villainized in this case either bc again shes human and a teenager. shes bound to fuck up and make impulsive decisions that can make her look like a completely bad person with bad intentions when we know that she really isnt. it was just in that moment where she completely fucked up. she isnt the perfect girl we all had the first impression of knowing in the beginning and that makes her feel like more of a complex character than what she initially was. the only major flaw and downside to this show is that that aspect of sun's character wasnt totally unveiled until this late into the show, and it was already too short to begin with which is bound create some major writing issues. it's so incredibly hard to write good fleshed out character arcs and satisfying stories with only 12 episodes. i still do hope that sun's character does get redeemed somewhat before the show ends tho, even if it isnt completely perfect.
What Mawin said to Tinh was the most romantic thing he could say at that moment ❤😭 When he accidentally exposed himself I thought he would deny it, say he likes him as a friend, but that was so brave of him to finally admit how he feels about him. Good job, Mawin 🥰

Heck, US viewers don't understand Sun as well. We don't even know a lick about her. We know almost as much about her as her 3 friends who'se names I can't even remember. Literally, we only know Sun as Ongsa's sun and not Viewer's Sun, aka Sun herself. We don't even know what she's like, how can we know how differently Ongsa precieves her compared to what she's like if not much has been shown?? I hope you all get what I mean because I only half understand Sunndue to just GUESSING what she's feeling.

@@sameerakhan7455 exactly, this whole series is about Ongsa never about Sun, even though the title is 23.5 indicating Earth tilting towards the Sun at an angle, but main lead is never the Sun, it's the Earth. Sun in this show is merely being used to shape the character of Ongsa. If you look at all the side characters, they are all on Ongsa's side, as you mentioned, Sun's 3 friends are virtually invisible compared to this lot, which IMO is so unfair. Everything from this show is narrated from Ongsa's point of view, but never from Sun's point of view, so how are we supposed to know what Sun is like and what she thinks? If we don't, how do we know Sun doesn't understand Ongsa? We only say Sun doesn't understand Ongsa because we are always being put in Ongsa's point of view, so in a way we only see what Ongsa sees.

i feel for sun so much for this scene. ongsa saying that she loves sun doesn't mean that sun feels loved by ongsa. it hurts a lot more knowing that the person who says they love you doesn't spend time and effort to really get to know you. to be loved is to be seen and known. but ongsa's vision is merely focused on the fact that sun is famous and all. because of her insecurities and internalized homophobia, she can't see the sun that loves her so much and tries so hard to reach out for her. for their age, sun shows a mature and pure love even if her emotions gets the best out of her sometimes. ongsa, at this stage, i still see her love for sun being superficial and sun doesn't deserve it but i know that ongsa will learn how to love sun the way sun wants to be loved once ongsa learned how to love herself first. they are young, so i am not picking a side because it's normal for ppl this age to not know what it really means to love. ongsasun married in the future and that's what matters!
Interestingly enough, I don't think Sun understands Ongsa either, and she makes a lot of assumptions about her, and being hurt she doesn't care to see the other side. Now they're both still teenagers so it's understandable, but they do have to communicate better, and Ongsa needs to stand up for herself instead of only doing what she thinks will please Sun.
Despite us getting Sun's POV and a slightly novel accurate dialogue at the swing, I still sympathise with Ongsa more than Sun. What Sun did was not okay

this is what the disadvantage are, they made more ongsas perspective , they cant even develop suns character more, this series is not about just ongsa but for the both of them yet they only give us ongsas perspective and now they be switching up suns character
So here's a little insight for people who don't get Sun's POV. I pretty much was just like Sun for a long time. I'm one of the few lucky people in the world who grew up without having to experience much pain in my childhood years. It turned me into a person who was always very optimistic and confident all around, because in that little protective bubble I called my life, there really was never a time where I _didn't_ feel supported and cheered on by the people around me. Even when there were a few people who didn't like me and showed me that more than clearly, I could always simply shrug it off and give my attention to the love and warmth I knew I had in my life. I was used to being surrounded by support, and I took it for granted because that's all I really knew. While that is a great feeling, everything has a downside. The downside of never really being without love? You have a hard time understanding the overwhelmingly many people who don't live the same reality as you do. Pain, anxiety, insecurities etc. aren't enjoyable to go through, but a certain amount of all of them is necessary to experience in order to learn a sort of kindness and compassion that love, support and friendship will never be able to give you. There's knowing what pain is, and there's knowing what it feels like. Sun is basically in the same position I was in when I was her age. She doesn't understand why Ongsa acts the way she does, because she has never shared Ongsa's experiences at any point in her life. Sun has a lot of cognitive empathy, but her emotional empathy and ability to relate to Ongsa is basically 0. She and Ongsa are the exact same in that regard. They're 2 sides of the same coin. Sun criticized Ongsa for not listening and not considering her wishes. She's totally unable to realize how she _does_ have a point but is being completely hypocritical about it, since Sun does the exact same to Ongsa. She has been kind and considerate to Ongsa before, of course. And she was great about it, too. But because she has never experienced it, Sun fails to realize that kindness shown to them from the outside does not magically cure a person's anxiety and insecurities on the inside. I don't think either one of them is wrong or right in their views, or one is worse than the other. They just need to figure out their communication and start really sharing their two drastically different realities so they can properly adapt to each other as a couple and grow together as people from there. That's on both of them. They've both failed each other in that regard equally.

Actually, it's understandable even IF everyone doesn't have the same type of childhood as Sun. However, I WISH we got to see more of that. Even the oart where she was with her parents, it only happened BECAUSE sun was there. If it wasn't to develop OngsaSun and spread positive affirmations to the viewers, we wouldn't see her parents at all and commenters like you would have to fill in the blanks, making it not even just a telling instead of showing, instead making it a telling and UNDERSTANDING EXPLAINATION rather than showing. I'm sorry if everyone sees my replies a lot this episode. I'm just so disappointed at how the show carried such potential as a gl down the drain like this

With the show now finished and knowing how everything ends, in retrospect I wish the writers had focused more on different aspects of Sun and Ongsa's lives instead of spending so much time on character stories that ended up leading nowhere, like Tinh and Mawin or Nida and Bambam. I know this series is based on a novel so they probably felt restricted in that regard, but from what I heard they were already taking plenty of liberties with their script. No reason they couldn't have taken a few more to properly flesh out the main characters.
Ongsa needs to love herself. Also her love is different because she loves the idea of loving Sun more than actually loving the real version of Sun :') hope it changes when Sun gets back from USA

I think this is the right reaction to the ep she needs to work on self-love and loving the real sun 🌞 like shes loves sun like she's a limited edition toy afraid to leave any mark or play with it .
THAT'S THE THING I WISH WAS SHOWN MORE. IT WOULD BE MORE INTUITIVE FOR US IF ONLY WE COULD JUXTAPOSE THE SUN AROUND ONGSA AND SUN JUST ON HER OWN. Problem is, we never got a proper Sun OOV, especially in the sexond half, where we could see her as well, HER. That's quite a huge issue on the writing that causing many of these problems (let alone butchering her character like that) which is why so much discourse is even happening. It's generally making loads of people unsatisfied, not just because of how the writers did a bad job, straying so far away from the original to the point our own main character is so... Like, we don't have very many characteristics abiut her. Only she's usually positive and understanding and that's she possessive. That is IT.

honestly, this ep had me stressed. what Sun did wasnt okay cus not everyone has supportive parents or just feels comfortable to come out, and Ongsa also has to understand Sun as well, Sun loves her but has always been very understanding of Ongsa without feeling that back. "you don't know me" yes she does, she knows you more than the viewers do. sun has broken up with ongsa to run away from taking accountability for outing 3 people (one being her girlfriend) and not bothering to understand why it's wrong, and then not apologizing and instead blaming ongsa yet again. you won't even tell ongsa or US what YOU WANT.
One of the most painful thing u can hear from your partner is " you dont understand me" 💔 when you know that you can give them world and you love them to the moon but they dont feel it is worse thing ever.
Both Sun and Ongsa knows in their heart that they love each other and they are both looking it from their side of things. The thing that they didn't quite understand is they have their own way of showing it. When Sun said that "I just want you to love me the way that I love you" and Ongsa responded with "but i love you so much, how is that different", that is where it was shown. Both of them are struggling to undertand what went wrong when all they do is try to love the other in the way that they know how --- Sun for not being embarrased to be with Ongsa and Ongsa trying to protect Sun from being criticized by others. This misunderstanding has to happen for them to starts communicating their feelings and then eventually really understand each other and how each of their actions is affecting the other.

I noticed this in the first part of the ep and I noticed it even more here. Love has a style of acting that is really good. The way she expresses her lines are very good. In the breakup scene, the flow of everything she was saying and feeling back to back was really full of emotion and natural and even here when she responds to Ongsa; her micro-expressions, the sigh of frustration and hurt 13:10, and the explanation, it all flows super naturally between these two girls. Even here>14:21 I think that little wipe from ongsa and the push away from sun felt like it was improvised by MilkLove and omg it works so well in the convo and fits their characters in this context. MilkLove have very good natural acting chemistry and I am constantly impressed by it. 👏

When it comes to love, it needs trust and communication. I understand Sun's pov but she needs to listen to Ongsa's pov. She keeps saying Ongsa doesn't understand her but does she understand Ongsa? Everything needs to be solved together, don't assume the other party will understand you

I can't whit this 😂 in this episode I laughed and cried at the same time at the hit with the bottle and Ongsa's 768 message, but I also cried at the sad dialogue that Sun and Ongsa had. I really think they act so good.
Ongsa is literally me. Awkard, loser, closeted lesbian, and dont know what to do about relationship. The way she hit herself when shes crying really like me. I feel the stress even more. I get Sun, I really get her POV. She wants Ongsa to love her the way she loves Ongsa. To me, this sounds like “love me openly, believe me that I love you too”. But this is not the way. Like, the outing was the turning point, the reason why Sun got mad. And that’s just wrong. I feel like Sun didn’t even give Ongsa to chance to be open about it since she’s decided that outing her would be great or something. Not saying that Ongsa making decisions on Sun’s behalf was right or that Ongsa didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just, that there’s a difference in outing someone and not telling the world about your partner. Ongsa doesn’t understand Sun’s love. But Sun doesn’t understand that Ongsa lives with insecurities which is kinda worse imo. Is that Sun’s fault, that Ongsa is insecure? No. Ongsa has to learn to love herself and deal with those insecurities. But Sun can’t expect her to do that immediately and should be by her side to through this, if she loves her as much as she says. Communication is key and that’s what’s missing here. So, no, neither are in the right, but Sun is the one who “overreacts” (can’t think of a better word now, gotta watch the rest :D) Edit: there’s also one thing that annoys me. Sun doesn’t even see her own fault as if she was such a self absorbed person which she actually isn’t, whereas Ongsa want to apologize… smh… :D
Ive been trying to figure out why im struggling through this because i feel like i wouldve thoroughly enjoyed it a decade ago lol. I came to the conclusion im too grown for it. Up until about 25 years old i wouldve enjoyed this more. I like light and deep themes but i still need it to be grown at this stage. Ive tried now 3 or 4 times skipping through the last times. Too grown but enjoy theres a preciousness that comes with still enjoying this. To be honest ive always been a little edgy even as a teen and it had to be REALLY good if it was...silly childish. Example i cant stand the 3 stooges i tolerate jim carey like will ferrell love katt williams 😁. Theres something for everyone thank the highest of highs.

Heck, US viewers don't understand Sun as well. We don't even know a lick about her.
We know almost as much about her as her 3 friends who'se names I can't even remember. Literally, we only know Sun as Ongsa's sun and not Viewer's Sun, aka Sun herself. We don't even know what she's like, how can we know how differently Ongsa precieves her compared to what she's like if not much has been shown??
I hope you all get what I mean because I only half understand Sunndue to just GUESSING what she's feeling.

@@sameerakhan7455 exactly, this whole series is about Ongsa never about Sun, even though the title is 23.5 indicating Earth tilting towards the Sun at an angle, but main lead is never the Sun, it's the Earth. Sun in this show is merely being used to shape the character of Ongsa. If you look at all the side characters, they are all on Ongsa's side, as you mentioned, Sun's 3 friends are virtually invisible compared to this lot, which IMO is so unfair. Everything from this show is narrated from Ongsa's point of view, but never from Sun's point of view, so how are we supposed to know what Sun is like and what she thinks? If we don't, how do we know Sun doesn't understand Ongsa? We only say Sun doesn't understand Ongsa because we are always being put in Ongsa's point of view, so in a way we only see what Ongsa sees.
I love how Aylin is slowly coming out of her shell, way to go Aylin! Sun is trying to explain it but Ongsa is so heartbroken I don't think she is actually hearing what Sun is saying. Wow, they are great actors.

i feel for sun so much for this scene. ongsa saying that she loves sun doesn't mean that sun feels loved by ongsa. it hurts a lot more knowing that the person who says they love you doesn't spend time and effort to really get to know you. to be loved is to be seen and known. but ongsa's vision is merely focused on the fact that sun is famous and all. because of her insecurities and internalized homophobia, she can't see the sun that loves her so much and tries so hard to reach out for her.
for their age, sun shows a mature and pure love even if her emotions gets the best out of her sometimes. ongsa, at this stage, i still see her love for sun being superficial and sun doesn't deserve it but i know that ongsa will learn how to love sun the way sun wants to be loved once ongsa learned how to love herself first.

Interestingly enough, I don't think Sun understands Ongsa either, and she makes a lot of assumptions about her, and being hurt she doesn't care to see the other side. Now they're both still teenagers so it's understandable, but they do have to communicate better, and Ongsa needs to stand up for herself instead of only doing what she thinks will please Sun.
Despite us getting Sun's POV and a slightly novel accurate dialogue at the swing, I still sympathise with Ongsa more than Sun. What Sun did was not okay

So here's a little insight for people who don't get Sun's POV. I pretty much was just like Sun for a long time. I'm one of the few lucky people in the world who grew up without having to experience much pain in my childhood years. It turned me into a person who was always very optimistic and confident all around, because in that little protective bubble I called my life, there really was never a time where I _didn't_ feel supported and cheered on by the people around me. Even when there were a few people who didn't like me and showed me that more than clearly, I could always simply shrug it off and give my attention to the love and warmth I knew I had in my life. I was used to being surrounded by support, and I took it for granted because that's all I really knew. While that is a great feeling, everything has a downside. The downside of never really being without love? You have a hard time understanding the overwhelmingly many people who don't live the same reality as you do.
Pain, anxiety, insecurities etc. aren't enjoyable to go through, but a certain amount of all of them is necessary to experience in order to learn a sort of kindness and compassion that love, support and friendship will never be able to give you. There's knowing what pain is, and there's knowing what it feels like.
Sun is basically in the same position I was in when I was her age. She doesn't understand why Ongsa acts the way she does, because she has never shared Ongsa's experiences at any point in her life. Sun has a lot of cognitive empathy, but her emotional empathy and ability to relate to Ongsa is basically 0. She and Ongsa are the exact same in that regard. They're 2 sides of the same coin. Sun criticized Ongsa for not listening and not considering her wishes. She's totally unable to realize how she _does_ have a point but is being completely hypocritical about it, since Sun does the exact same to Ongsa. She has been kind and considerate to Ongsa before, of course. And she was great about it, too. But because she has never experienced it, Sun fails to realize that kindness shown to them from the outside does not magically cure a person's anxiety and insecurities on the inside.
I don't think either one of them is wrong or right in their views, or one is worse than the other. They just need to figure out their communication and start really sharing their two drastically different realities so they can properly adapt to each other as a couple and grow together as people from there. That's on both of them. They've both failed each other in that regard equally.

Actually, it's understandable even IF everyone doesn't have the same type of childhood as Sun.
However, I WISH we got to see more of that. Even the oart where she was with her parents, it only happened BECAUSE sun was there. If it wasn't to develop OngsaSun and spread positive affirmations to the viewers, we wouldn't see her parents at all and commenters like you would have to fill in the blanks, making it not even just a telling instead of showing, instead making it a telling and UNDERSTANDING EXPLAINATION rather than showing.

With the show now finished and knowing how everything ends, in retrospect I wish the writers had focused more on different aspects of Sun and Ongsa's lives instead of spending so much time on character stories that ended up leading nowhere, like Tinh and Mawin or Nida and Bambam. I know this series is based on a novel so they probably felt restricted in that regard, but from what I heard they were already taking plenty of liberties with their script. No reason they couldn't have taken a few more to properly flesh out the main characters.

EXACTLY! Everyone in the comments thinking Sun is breaking up for petty reasons. But the reason is at the end of the day, Ongsa doesn't understand her (mainly because she's too insecure about herself to really believe Sun loves her for her) and Ongsa is making decisions for her based on her own insecurity. She can't even see Sun's sincerity because she(Ongsa) doesn't believe she's worthy. I think Sun wants Ongsa to understand that herself is enough and be more proud of their relationship. It almost feels like Sun's dating someone who is her fan not someone who loves her.

Problem is, we never got a proper Sun OOV, especially in the sexond half, where we could see her as well, HER. That's quite a huge issue on the writing that causing many of these problems (let alone butchering her character like that) which is why so much discourse is even happening.
It's generally making loads of people unsatisfied, not just because of how the writers did a bad job, straying so far away from the original to the point our own main character is so... Like, we don't have very many characteristics abiut her. Only she's usually positive and understanding and that's she possessive. That is IT.

Both Sun and Ongsa knows in their heart that they love each other and they are both looking it from their side of things. The thing that they didn't quite understand is they have their own way of showing it.
When Sun said that "I just want you to love me the way that I love you" and Ongsa responded with "but i love you so much, how is that different", that is where it was shown. Both of them are struggling to undertand what went wrong when all they do is try to love the other in the way that they know how --- Sun for not being embarrased to be with Ongsa and Ongsa trying to protect Sun from being criticized by others.
This misunderstanding has to happen for them to starts communicating their feelings and then eventually really understand each other and how each of their actions is affecting the other.

I noticed this in the first part of the ep and I noticed it even more here. Love has a style of acting that is really good. The way she expresses her lines are very good. In the breakup scene, the flow of everything she was saying and feeling back to back was really full of emotion and natural and even here when she responds to Ongsa; her micro-expressions, the sigh of frustration and hurt 13:10, and the explanation, it all flows super naturally between these two girls. Even here>14:21 I think that little wipe from ongsa and the push away from sun felt like it was improvised by MilkLove and omg it works so well in the convo and fits their characters in this context. MilkLove have very good natural acting chemistry and I am constantly impressed by it. 👏

I get Sun, I really get her POV. She wants Ongsa to love her the way she loves Ongsa. To me, this sounds like “love me openly, believe me that I love you too”.
But this is not the way. Like, the outing was the turning point, the reason why Sun got mad. And that’s just wrong. I feel like Sun didn’t even give Ongsa to chance to be open about it since she’s decided that outing her would be great or something.
Not saying that Ongsa making decisions on Sun’s behalf was right or that Ongsa didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just, that there’s a difference in outing someone and not telling the world about your partner.
Ongsa doesn’t understand Sun’s love.
But Sun doesn’t understand that Ongsa lives with insecurities which is kinda worse imo.
Is that Sun’s fault, that Ongsa is insecure? No. Ongsa has to learn to love herself and deal with those insecurities. But Sun can’t expect her to do that immediately and should be by her side to through this, if she loves her as much as she says.
Communication is key and that’s what’s missing here.
So, no, neither are in the right, but Sun is the one who “overreacts” (can’t think of a better word now, gotta watch the rest :D)

Ive been trying to figure out why im struggling through this because i feel like i wouldve thoroughly enjoyed it a decade ago lol. I came to the conclusion im too grown for it. Up until about 25 years old i wouldve enjoyed this more. I like light and deep themes but i still need it to be grown at this stage. Ive tried now 3 or 4 times skipping through the last times. Too grown but enjoy theres a preciousness that comes with still enjoying this. To be honest ive always been a little edgy even as a teen and it had to be REALLY good if it was...silly childish. Example i cant stand the 3 stooges i tolerate jim carey like will ferrell love katt williams 😁. Theres something for everyone thank the highest of highs.
