I did quit social media, quite a while ago. One of the best decisions I've made.
Me too except for youtube but I haven’t used fb in about two yrs and never had twitter or tiktok or Snapchat or instagram. RUclips is social media but kind of different. The problem with the people who make the posts about leaving though is 99.9% are just doing it for attention and act like anyone really cares and than they are back on it a day later.
Skipped ever making social accounts. No need to quit something I never started. Lol
I did too for about half a year, and I agree! Only hopped back on to connect and network for my business.
Yeah, deleted Instagram during the BLM summer of love madness because I couldn't stand seeing all these people I'd formerly respected melt into NPCs. I also deleted FB at the same time even though I had stopped using it years earlier. Never used tiktok. Never missed any of it.
got on Twitter after Musk took over but only look at it once every couple of weeks.
The only social media I have is RUclips.

@@JohnnyTromboner YT is seen different because it's more of an entertainment platform, a bit like television used to be in the past, than social media to connect with other people. I'm using YT since forever but only couple years ago started really engaging in comments, before it used to be just for watching videos and listening music. Which kinda isn't the point of majority of socials (yes, I have different ones)
Literally left everything, no Facebook, no Twitter, no Instagram, no tiktok. I’m literally only on RUclips for classical piano videos, but I occasionally look at shorts if I’m not busy. I will say it’s the happiest I have been in a long time. Social media sucks the life out of you, and we weren’t designed to drag every single person we’ve ever met through life with us 😂😂

So true, about a year ago my friends and I agreed that we were going to quit social media (except RUclips) and be productive with our lives. Most of them returned by the end of the week. The few people who made it past a week returned by the end of the month. I'm the only one in the group who actually followed through and stayed off social media.
The first time I left social media, I announced it. The second time I left, I didn’t announce it and people thought I died 😂😂😂
I’ve been off Facebook for 6 months. All the extra time is amazing

One of my greatest joys is going out for the day and leaving my phone at home. Freedom.
I once has three brand new phones die in under a month (2 within 24hrs) without any cause to be found. At that time I'm pretty sure I was being targeted, so I stopped usinf a cell phone. Been about and 5ishyrs plus some months and I don't regret it!
I don't use mine much either, but there can be an emergency with a family member or something and no one would be able to reach me, and such emergencies have happened before. Or someone just calls to ask if I can pick something up for them while I'm outside. So, I'd rather just have it on me, because these things aren't timed. Being reached is the main purpose of having a cell phone, after all.
Is nice to do this while taking a walk (if you're in a safe area)

God it took my family a month to realise I wasn't on social media.
I stopped using all social media [except RUclips] 6 years ago and my mental health instantly improved. I've stayed off because it's just nice to not always be thinking about whats going on with mine or someone else's page constantly, or be glued to a screen any free second you have.
when I left most social media's I just put a quick post telling people that I didn't feel comfortable using it anymore and I hope they understood. that was it, nothing more, didn't even check if anyone responded...

I have been trying to cut out my born with need for recognition from other people when I do something I'm proud of. It helps to give yourself a pat on the back. Also being secretly good at many things is pretty cool and funny.

Got off of every social media except for RUclips about 2 years ago, and honestly one of the best decisions of my life. I didn’t post about it, just sent my friends dm’s and told them to just message me if they wanted to talk to me, and about half of them I don’t talk to at all anymore. Some people only talk to you because of social media, it’s kind of crazy.
I literally took a break off social media for the opposite reason; I am too obsessed with scrolling on Insta and my screen time was 9 hours.
I quit all social media apart from RUclips and honestly it’s the best feeling. Anyone that I need to speak to should already have my number 🤷🏾♀️

I let people know before I deactivated my FB so people weren’t thinking something happened, done it a few times and stayed off of fb for months at a time. Prolly will never go back on and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
I have so many pictures too ugh i have downloaded the pics but forget I need to I want to Instagram and Snapchat and just delete it and pay a service to delete everything for good you wanna find me come look for me
Yea man I quit insta for 2-3 months every 5-6 months and those are the most peaceful and relaxing days for character development

When I leave social media, it's mainly instagram and I usually don't go on for months and when I do go on, I mainly post one to two things to my story and then I dip again. I'm way more active on Snapchat, Pinterest, and RUclips. Sometime I'll go on Twitter but that's an every other day thing... kinda forget I have it.

I got off all social media for two years like years ago now. Still the best thing I've done in years.
Maybe because I'm sensitive to negative thoughts but I hate attention. Everyone is always surprised that I don't post on social media. I'm sometimes maybe in the background when someone else takes a picture.
I seriously can't understand just what do they like so much about it. It's gotten to the point that I hate anyone taking a picture of me now. My mom takes a lot of them. I was just indifferent to taking pictures at first, but now, thanks to my mom's obsession with making me 'normal', I hate it. I'm thankful other people agree with me.
When I left social networking over two years ago, I just left, didn't announce it. I don't regret leaving FB, IG, Twitter, Tiktok. Those apps consumed way too much of my time and I realized they were an addiction. Note that I'm speaking for myself and talking about my decisions. I'm not judging anyone reading this. Social apps didn't help with my depression it made it worst.

Funny thing is you don't have to quit social media entirely, just avoid it and find something else to fill the time you would've spent on social media.

Left social media back in 2020, feels so good not to be seeing people's drama on Facebook, now I'm only on RUclips watching Brett Coopers fine ass.

I deleted insta and everything except my Facebook only because of car groups and some friends I can't see in person whenever I feel like it but I don't announce that shit😂 you know they aren't genuine about it if they post as they'll not exactly have people to reply to if they actually fully deleted there socials because nobody would ever see the post in the first place😂

I literally didn't know what to do during the day from all the time it gave me.
Now I'm using that time to open my own business and learn different hobbies

Lol, I remember doing this once back in the day, but definitely not this dramatically. I thought it was a nice way of letting my friends know they wouldn’t be able to get in touch with me on my socials, now I look back and just cringe😂
