How do I draw a man's body, front side, for superheroes? I want to learn that in David's style
Thats good thing about David Finch he always mentioned his inspirations and look his style now, more distinguished and easy to recognised his style.
David is an amazing artist, and just a good person overall. His tutorials and streams art chocked full of good advice.
This is an old post but he for real distills everything into just what's important and it's so refreshing

I can't believe that I sat here and watched a 3 hours long RUclips video and enjoyed ever second of it. Not to mention that I've learnt a lot from it as well. 1:19:45 This is such an important point because newer artists or people like myself (with chronic perfectionism / procrastination issues) would literally scrap a panel and lose motivation if this happens because we don’t know it happens to the pros too. 🎉❤

Finch is the man! I would love to see a comic just of his pencils, no inking or coloring needed imo
I was actually surprised when I saw he was gonna draw on paper and not digital and I was so glad to see that. I always prefer to draw traditionally because it feels so much better and stisfying imo.

This is probably the first time I've ever heard an industry person honestly speak about how many pages a day are feasible as well as what's expected by employers, and it's incredibly helpful and enlightening. Love that, thank you!

I use Red Mars and Blue Staedtler 2 MM also, and put the rubber or foam pencil grips halfway up the lead holder, (Royal pain). Lefty also. My mom was an Architect, dad an Engineer, so you just know I started out swiping theirs! You can't counter-clockwise, unwind these things, which saves me lots of time, just rewinding the tip of the barrel of regular Pentels back on.

Wow, 3 hours livestream! Thanks for the great video! So after a short pause from 40 years , I decide to draw again, and thanks yt, there are a hundreds of course material now. When I started in the 80th I had ONE book, HOW TO DRAW COMICS THE MARVEL WAY😂😂🤣
Every time I re-watch all you fellas and ladies as you got me to understand a few things then needed, now appreciated much love for that, I hear everything as I did but the focus on all the speech sinks in better, not much interested in doing pro stuff but I love showing my progress to people it drives me to get better 😂 as if on it's own it ain't enough. Much thanks once more it just started raining and I'm on the rooftop 😂 catch the rest down stairs maybe even take out a piece of paper 🙏🙃😂 like towards the end of 13:30

Can we credit the "big plate ribcage" to Jim Lee, or did pencilers get into the habit of it before him? And do we think it evolved from the torso/rib cage simplified primitive in the undersketch that more and more survived into the final pencils?

Awesome, but get yourself a workbench that can be raised/lowered forcing you to either sit or stand up, you don't want to have any thrombosis in your legs due to sitting 10+ hours a day unless you are working out (your legs) every other day

Why do you need to ink when you can just darken your pencil work in an image editor (i.e. photoshop)?

Probably How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way, Loomis' heads book, or Bridgman's constructive anatomy/ drawing from life books. Those are the ones David always recommends as the library for starting out.
