  • Christina Hoff Sommers and Camille Paglia address what they see as the biggest gap in women’s studies-the failure to have any requirement for biology. They go on to talk about the effects of the “social constructionist view of gender” that entirely dismisses the importance of hormones and endocrinology in the behavior of the sexes.
This is part eight of a nine part series featuring Christina Hoff Sommers and Camille Paglia. The other videos in the series can be found here:

The problem is not necessarily the lack of biology lessons, but contradicting biology. By the time you're an undergraduate you're already supposed to know that genders are biologically defined and know about chromosomes, hormones, different amounts of grey and white matter in the brain, etc. but the Gender Studies courses contradict all that.

I used to be of the opinion that gender behaviour was completely learned and had no biological basis. Now I think it's a mixture of biology and learning. Yes there are masculine women and effeminate men, but I think that even the reason for that is partly biological.

It isn't just that girls and boys are different. Anyone with decent observational skills who has known a gay man from childhood to adulthood, knows that sexuality isn't a choice.

@@minjiudai3411 I think in the near future most gay and lesbian activists will break their ties with these people. The only reason that they are accepted under their umbrella is power in numbers. The Labour Party in Britain, which I prefer to refer to as the Special Needs Party, have labelled A Womans Place and several gay and lesbian groups that disagree with their bullshit as hate groups, and they have appointed a young man who dresses like his grandma as a Womens officer. Labour will have an even bigger surprise at the next election than the last one when they lost a record number of seats.

This is a HUGE problem. They don't even learn the distinction between a

Just finished reading "Berlin - the Downfall 1945" by Antony Beevor; In one chapter the book wrote about how German women surviving during the Battle of Berlin were more afraid for the wellbeing of the children, especially given the horrors of child soldiers, than they were of being raped & killed by the invading Soviets. Are women's studies going to tell us that these are not natural underlying instincts of women, but rather something simply learned as a behavioral trait the patriarchy taught them?

Sexual dimorphism includes the inherent behavior, oddly this was brought up a lot and its either ignored or they demand citations.

That's what happens when your education systems work in silos. Don't bother questioning yourself if the concept your trying to understand is out or your domain. I thought that there would be boundaries to absurdity, in fact there's none. The denial of us in every way now produces so called self-proclaimed education degrees

The farthest from factual reality someone's mind goes, the harsher must be the factual reality with which such person must be put in direct contact.

Wow! Personally, I can't imagine NOT being a free thinker. I listen to a lot of view points, but I think for myself. These ladies are so thoughtful. If our universities are producing people who deny obvious facts, and have no desire to test their opinions against what is actually occurring in the real world, we have a real problem. It appears we now have so-called "scientists" who deny the fundamental tenets of the scientific method and instead and instead parrot what someone has told them like reading a creed in a church service.

Sommers, you lose credibility to pretend like the "commander" in the gender stereotypes isn't men. For Pete's Sake, there are religious doctrines about women's submission and obedience to men. There are people who idealize what they call "traditional roles" as the natural and God-ordained way the genders ought to be structured. Sometimes these are the same people who follow you.
