I feel like being Prince's audience is like being his date: how can you possibly live up to his expectations?
What you get with a rich, entitled, non-paying crowd. This is why you bring it for paying customers who want to be there.
If I had been in that audience I would have been up on my feet the second Prince stepped on that stage. HOW IN THE HELL DOES ONE SIT STILL AT A PRINCE PERFORMANCE???? No one, no one will ever surpass Prince. That man could do it all. Damn I miss him. RIP my beautiful Prince.✌🦋☘

If you never saw Prince live even once, you missed out on what would have been the greatest concert you ever saw.
That's what I keep telling everybody!!!!! I have seen Prince 8 times, and I was blown away each and every time.....thankful to have been alive during life and times of Prince Rogers Nelson, the baddest in all the land.
It was my first concert.. I was 10 years old.. 97 Mobile AL.. my pops (old white dude with too much soul) took me and Prince burned that bitch down.. we were 2nd row, and he asked someone in the audience to get up and dance with him.. the light shined on me and busted an MJ move, Prince shook his head and picked a dude dressed as a Prince imitator haha.. they danced with each other for 10 minutes.. then I found out later that Prince and MJ had a rivalry and didn’t really care for each other 😂

I love how Prince hardly aged between 1986 and 2004!! he's channelling James Brown with this performance. Like James Brown, he was a 'one off'. He put everything into performing live.

I was very lucky to have met Prince in 2001 and got to know what a kind person he was. He wasn't only a musical genius, he was also a very genuine person.

It's hard to imagine that a lot of folks became fans of Prince during or after the Purple Rain era,. I was hooked as soon as he made those early hits like soft & wet, I wanna be your lover, sexy dancer, etc,. And the royal badness haven't disappointed since.

Fans should really listen to those lps before Purple Rain,. Those are without a doubt the best Prince material.
Me too. I was raised on Prince in the 70's. I cried for weeks when passed. Prince is a Legend and always will be. My lovely Purple One.
I worked in the Michigan State University Union ticket office starting in 1980, selling tickets to a not-super-well-known performer: Prince. And Vanity, actually. The performance was cancelled because we just didn't sell enough tickets. The next year Little Red Corvette came out and he was HUGE. Didn't get to see him, but have loved him all along.

This was the same day Prince stole the show with his guitar solo and proved he was better than all the “legendary” rockstars who were present. Wouldn’t be surprised if some people were salty about it
Not a single one was salrty. And the story behind it is even more amazing.... Real artists all respected Prince and knew he was special. Its people like you that think people didn't know. that real musicians all knew he was the best guitar player since Hendrix.

Different people have different styles of attending live performances. When I'm seeing one of my favorite performers live, I'm not dancing and losing my shit, I'm paying rapt attention to the performer's moves, expressions, and vocals, what the musicians are doing, that sort of thing. It's not that I think it's not cool to be myself, that's how I like to experience live performances. If I want to listen and dance, I can do that in my living room. You shouldn't expect everyone to live up to how you think they should behave. You do you, let others do themselves.

I think I’m in love with the bassist. There will never be another PRINCE. I was so blessed to grow up during an era when I could watch this raw and amazing talent grow musically, and become such the iconic artist that influenced and entertained so many. What a loss. I don’t think I can ever get used to the fact that he’s no longer here to create. He’s still and will always be my favorite singer/musician.

He really, really loved music and always gave the audience everything he had in each performance. Prince is a legend who will never truly die.

I only saw him once in concert. His shows always sold out quickly whenever he came to the bay area. I can only explain the experience in word: “Dynamic!” The man was an absolute showman par excellence! So sad that he’s gone. But his music will live forever!

He was a musical genius, an entertainer with a capital E and an amazing guy. He also always knew how to surround himself with the best musicians because he was just not threatened by talent, he craved it and fostered it in others. RIP my Prince, I have no doubts that you have the audience you deserve now and that they are dancing forever.

I remember seeing Prince debut on American Bandstand. I was a fan though not a fanatic. In all that time however, this is probably the best performance I've ever seen him perform. That suit, his haircut, his face and his orchestration of the band....WOW! Phenomenal. TFS

This is a lovely 'taste' and thankyou for posting! - if you all'd like another delicious sample of this great Artist- watch for his solo during 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps' later that same evening- In a crowd of Greats, He performed with a brilliance that was simply undeniable. The other guitarists -including Dani Harrison-on stage were in the presence of greatness and they knew it.

It's strange but only on stage Prince disclosure his greatness. Studio version of his songs too gentle most of times but on stage... gosh, that's where the funk starts and Prince spread his wings.
