    I do the stock pinion With only the high speed spur gear. It makes it just a LIL faster, and doesn't overheat or ruin the motor

      Yeah that’s not a bad idea if you wanna keep the motor intact….

      @@RCKnockout I noticed with the 12t, the high speed gearing does increase the top speed, but i was severely disappointed with the performance, and it got to way tohot.

    I bought a second hand brushed stampede and loved it so much I went and got the VXL 4x4 version, love them both!

      @@RCKnockout me too, really all of traxxas 2wd brushed version has surprised me on there speed and reliability, even some of the used models I have bought have really impressed me

    I know that they are geared differently, and the Slash more so for speed than the Stampede, but the weight difference is likely the reason for the slightly higher speed this time around. A stock Slash is about 300 grams heavier than a stock Stampede.

    The Stampede is capable for good speeds , The VXL shocked me on 3s ! Boogies down the road

      @@RCKnockout I'm interested to see how it performs on rougher terrain. Obviously it's high center of gravity wouldn't work across big rocks and such, but maybe a rough dirt road or something?

    It’s a really great rc car but I think I still prefer the look of the slash and and the jump performance

      The Slash definitely is a better looking machine in my opinion

      @@RCKnockout yeah and I think it handles more well jumps and rough terrain I think it’s less jumpy

      @@Twisted_Knob oh yeah it definitely is better for rough terrain than the Slash…..the extra clearance is super helpful too

      @@RCKnockout yeah but still the slash is pretty darn fun when we go to a bmx/motocross park or even a skatepark but I think they are both amazing car for beginners

    The nimh was a 7 cell right ? So that's 8.4 volts. The 2s is only 7.2 volts
