The only of those fellow nominees I haven't seen is Howards End. The other three are all great (I recommend _The Crying Game_ first or last, depending on how you work).
A Few Good Men and The Crying Game are fine films each with very memorable scenes, Howards End is a high end drama which I have seen but which didnt leave an impression on me. Scent of a Woman was very much big name actor playing disabled character territory. I think Unforgiven was the best of them.
I only saw "Unforgiven" over the past year (at least in its entirety). I enjoyed it, but the "recovery sequence" when Eastwood's character was doing exactly that, recovering, was slow and was the downfall of the film. Still liked the rest of it, but that sequence could have been shortened. The rest of the film was awesome. I agree that quality of western it presented pretty much cemented it's Best Picture status, but a very close second for me would have been "A Few Good Men". I've seen that film multiple times, it is very quotable, with great performances all around (except, of course, as always in my opinion, for Demi Moore - an AWFUL actress!!! but her style fits her character perfectly, so it is not that much of a damper). BTW - What happened to "Lawrence of Arabia" on your list? You originally put it between "The Apartment" and "All About Eve" but then it disappeared where you put "Unforgiven". Was just wondering.
The truth is that I've made a few changes to my list since uploading specific videos. Some films went up, some films went down. Lawrence of Arabia is one of those who went slightly down. I'm planning on making a HUGE video at the end of the marathon, basically just going over my final ranking (with 96 films it'll be well over an hour long), and you'll see the definitive placements then.
I would have placed _Unforgiven_ even higher on the list. A deep dive into this excellent film would be great!
One of the all time greats. What a cast ensemble, beautiful cinematography, great score.
Couldn't agree more!
😊 👍
The 90s made the Oscars great again :-) Thank you for continuing this Marathon!
One of my favorite films of the 90's. I have seen it several times
I totally recommend A Few Good Men. Probably my favorite Rob Reiner movie.

I can really never get into this one. I always liked a few good men and scent of a woman more.
