At the end of the video you should notice some water on the ground from the first fracture they hit, that's when they pulled the pipe and dropped the sleeve. Large volume of air. The loud engine sound is the compressor which operates the hammer action and clears the hole. The engine that rotates the bit is tiny. My other borehole video gives the intresting specs of that very thirsty compressor.

@@gazloading not to my knowledge, we use water to keep our heads cool and to keep the dust down. The air pushes the slurry up and out. Drilling through bedrock is tough, so we have to keep the heads cool. I noticed y'all don't go very deep. Seems like the water table is higher there seen the it's the tropics.

Undergroud water should ideally be filtered appropriately before interfacing with steel or copper pipes.
