This is a big picture channel. I love your demeanor and how thorough you are. I really appreciate seeing you take time to address even the smallest minded comments, but don't let it lead you astray. It's obvious you're laying the groundwork for a serious series on this car and it will pay off in spades for those of us with project cars that have realistic expectations of how things go. Carry on!
Thank you so much for taking your time to write this, it really means a lot. Some people either just don't get the little details or are simply misinformed because they haven't taken the time to watch the prior episodes and follow updates I've spoon fed in other project videos. I appreciate your support and the wait will be well worth it. It's been stressful getting to this point, but the lift is almost ready, then we can jump into pulling the KA 🙌
Not everyone has to like the same stuff 😝 I'm not trying to compete against anybody, I just want to have fun on youtube again and bring folks along for a journey with these projects.
I'd keep the prop rod just in case of emergency, as in, if the struts fail at some point, then you got the prop as backup. Those tapes look ugly, when are you planning to put a spoiler?
Well they're not meant to be stylish haha. I won't do any bodywork till the powertrain and suspension is fully dialed in. I'd rather have tape than a leaky trunk! It would be good to have it as a backup later on.
Silicone wouldn't be any better. It would be messy and take forever to clean up when the time comes to metal patch the trunk. Tape is simple, tape is temporary. There are far more important things to worry about than tape haha.
Great for someone like myself who can only use one hand. B/c I cannot prop the bonnet up I have neglected fluids in my car. Now it has blown a head gasket. I will be making this converversion post haste

My volvo 940 has some of the best hood mecanichs ive seen on any car (stock) the hinges that hold up the hood is a whole multi part mechanic that slides smoothly but at the same time hold the hood in place however much you wanna open it. (all the way from 1 cm from closed to the hood pointing straight up
I'll be keeping the original color and doing a full repaint with an OEM type-x conversion. Want to make sure the powertrain and suspension are dialed in first though.
You should try changing the headlights and taillights. Keep the popups of course but instead of sealed beams on the inside of the pop up use some more modern LED lights. Same for taillights, try getting stock looking LED lights. It's a restomod after all
Yeah, the car needs some scratched polished out of the side windows and the windshield needs to be replaced. Once the car is painted, I'll explore some tint options. Thanks!
I wouldn't recommend it. From everything I've researched and seen, CF and FB hoods have risk of cracking when struts or even prop rods are used. It has to do with the force you have to pull on top of the hood when using struts, or the fact that weight isn't evenly distributed when using a prop rod. I suppose it's possible if you are super careful and be gentle, but again, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it and it messing up your hood. I know those aren't cheap!

We've talked about doing something with the engine swap, hopefully we can put something together!

This is a no brainer for anyone who often works on their engine and is looking for a bit more convenience. I’m glad you did this Kyle.
Thanks for watching!
Saabkyle04 It's fine! I should actually be the one thanking you for prepping me when I get a car later on.

Great little mod that makes the difference 👍👍👍👍, just an idea - change interior lights for LED’s instead of incandescent bulbs 👍👍👍
I thought about that! I'd want to do some tasteful LEDs, nothing insanely bright, but a nice upgrade. Good tip dude!

Saabkyle04 your welcome
I love these 240SX vids but I wish I didn't have to wait months in-between each video!😩
Kyle why can't we use those struts on carbon fiber or fiber glass hoods?
Those hoods typically need hood pins. Struts, or even a prop rod, could cause the CF or FG hood to crack.
