Dear Sand Wolf, thank you for your work and willingness to share all of these wonderful testimonies of Schiff's art and understanding of music. It's a pleasure to listen to them!
The title means "Dances related to the David's group of people, or David's band." I am talking about possibly David in the Bible who had his fight against the dreaded Phillistine, Goliath. The second 'Davidsbuendlertanz" - which starts in the B minor key (actually the "V").....to put it clearly, those "B minor passages", if I were to bring out the German indications in a German edition of this Schumann piece in these slower passages, should be "traurig, empfindunglich zart, und mit starke Errinerung" (or, "plaintive, sentimentally tender, and with strong remembrance.")
At least Elena would have had this recording to help remember or notate all these details added to her own excellent playing! And we have it to understand what is involved in interpretation.
She is only 29 here. She has already had quite a career at the time of this masterclass. Two years later he selected her to participate in his "Building Bridges" program.
Amazing how fast Elena understood the splendid recommendations of Schiff.
Many thanks to Sir András and to Elena Nefedova for sharing this class with us! Wonderful, generous mentor; brilliant student.
What a wonderful experience to listen to Andräs Schiff’s illuminating comments accompanied by his playing. Thank you for the video
What a marvellous communication and the fine unique tune from the Bösendorfer grand piano.
as a package, musicality, interpretation, skill , hard to beat ! Nobody on this spot brings the entchantment.

Fine pianist, wonderful teaching.
I loved the masterclass, so beautifully played and so many interesting comments.
Thank you so much!! This is one of my favourite works ever! Unfortunately very difficult to play.
You can do anything if you put your mind into it.
@@karamiali thank you!
Henle rates it at level 7. Should be doable for you :)
@@leonardmartin6048 I think it should be harder. It's very very complex musically and also technically, imo.
@@avivdor1454 7 of 9 is accurate in my opinion. Henles ratings are very precise
Такое счастье слушать эти уроки.
Excellent pianist, wonderful teaching.
Quel suspense quand sir Andras Schiff commence à faire les corrections !
Et puis quelle merveille !

What type of construction ist there above her pianos dampers? Something to play contemporary music?
Do you mean the microphones?
@@stjamesoldcathedral no, there are a lot of kind of dampers above the strings. Are those microphones?
The metal thingies? Those are the tuning pegs I think.

Success is in imitation???? Loved some of her unadulterated ideas in her initial performance.

Actually I think he was saying "точно", more like "genau!".
It's a little unusual to see an older lady in such a situation; is she hoping for a career change now that her kids have left the nest?
