@@AmeliaKnows I'm no expert, but to my ear Meryl's singing has improved in everything along the way up until now (with the exception of FFJ of course, though she was AWFULly good in that too :). I actually think she sounds best now, in this 3rd season of NMITB, than in any of the previous musicals she's done (not to say she wasn't very good in all of those as well).
I'd add to that, it may also involve the way she's chosen to sing for each vehicle based on each character - her intonation, so to speak (again, I'm no expert). Like she often does with her speaking voice, I'd guess that she also makes subtle changes to her singing voice to best inhabit the character as she sees fit.

I feel so proud of this moment. It hits both Steve Martin and Martin Short, but particularly Martin Short which honestly seems pretty fitting to me. It makes perfect sense that season 3 focuses entirely on Oliver’s theater disaster. To me, season 1 focuses mainly on Charles and season 2 focuses mainly towards Mabel, so season 3 focusing on Oliver seems like the right choice to me. It fits well like a hand in a glove. 😢

Agreed, though to me it feels more like Season 1 is Mabel's season (Tim was a childhood friend, Oscar, Zoe etc.) and Season 2 was Charles' season (the painting, Rose Cooper, his father etc.) But of course they all have moments to shine throughout. They're a great trio.

I don't know if Sara wrote the musical bridge, or the arrangement for the two female voices, or some of the lyrics or all three. This is why you get Meryl Streep. This reason here.

1:57 could be a stretch but I think this confirms that Loretta is in fact dickies mom. When she looks out you think she’s just looking at Oliver but dickies reflection is also in frame, like she’s actually looking at him. And right after it’s cuts to just Dickie, he is tearing up. I think she is actually singing about the child she gave away and Dickie is moved because he knows that’s his mother

Hearing this. Don´t you wish to have a mom like Meryl, singing a song so full of love and warm? I do.

This is the most magnificent moment from the series in recent years. An absolute masterpiece! Meryl's playing is filigree! Bravo!

Dear God, can we get Death Rattle as an actually real life stage production? Sara Bareilles' writing is amazing.
