  • In this simple do-it-yourself video, I show you how to change the water filter in a Samsung Refrigerator and reset water filter light. This is fairly basic and should be performed every 2-3 months or when you notice your water filter light come on.
    Replacement filters for Samsung Available on Amazon Here- amzn.to/3rLFnsP
    I found these replacement water filters for about $10 each and you can get a three pack for $30. Each filter roughly lasts for about 300 gallons before needing replacement.
    If your water filter is stuck and hard to remove, you can use some small pliers to make the job easier. You want to rotate the water filter 45 degrees counter clockwise and it should be able to be pulled straight out.
    Before installing the new water filter in your Samsung refrigerator, ensure the gaskets on the new filter are not damaged and seated properly.
    To install, reverse the steps. I always find it beneficial to run about a gallon of water through the new filter before drinking from it. This will ensure all the carbon dust within the filter is removed.
    Well, I hope you found this video helpful on how to change the water filter in a Samsung refrigerator and reset water filter light. Please stay tuned for future videos on easy to follow how to videos!

      It may make it easier to remove the filter if the water is turned off. I usually don't do it as I do not want to pull my refrigerator out each time I want to replace the filter. I guess you could also turn off the water at the street level but again, that just seems like a lot of extra work each time you replace the filter.

      Have you looked inside to see if there is any obstruction preventing it from going in? Try rotating the filter clockwise or counter clockwise and see if you have better success. Because the filter is locked in place, it needs to be inserted the right way.

    • @JMGENTERPRISES
      @JMGENTERPRISES  2 года назад

      I am not sure. Are you sure your ice tray is fully inserted into your fridge? I had an issue with my fridge not making ice before. It turns out, there was ice that had fallen behind the tray that prevented the tray from being inserted fully. This prevented the machine from making ice. I would recommend pulling out your ice tray ALL the way out and verify there is no ice in the back.

But if you have a stainless steel sink I wouldn't dump it in the sink but instead the bath tub or a bucket, if you melt a lot of ice in ss sink it can cause condensation to fork under the sink and get everything under there wet and make you think that you have a leak in your sinks water line or drain pipe. I hope this helps. But if may be stupid advice. Good luck!

      Is there a way to do that while disabled? We apparently had to have a converter got that to work and we can’t move the fridge. We can’t get the red light to go away cause it’s a different fridge

    • @Egonzales85
      @Egonzales85 2 года назад

      It could also be that since the filter isn’t OEM, there could be some minor imperfections this causing tight spots within the gaskets.

    • @Egonzales85
      @Egonzales85 2 года назад +7

      @@k.m4411 pull the fridge out and look for the water line attached to the wall. There’s a valve that the line is attached to; turn it right until it stops and this closes the water feed to the fridge. To remove the filter you need to turn it counter clockwise a full 180 degrees not like this guy did turning it only 90 degrees which is why he almost broke the fridge using channel lock pliers when he didn't need to had he turned it 180 degrees.

    • @JMGENTERPRISES

      Well actually turning off the water will relieve the pressure and make it easy to remove. On mh fridge the filter only needs to turn 90 to remove

    I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Samsung requires us to TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY LINE BEFORE changing a filter! For us, that means strong
    arming the refrigerator out of it's position as a built-in appliance. We have a large one, which is a tight fit - and heavy - and that is just not going to happen. So we have to go out to the yard and turn off the main supply line to the whole house. dispense water from the fridge until the water is gone - replace the filter - then go back and turn on the water supply. And then we get to run all the water lines in the house to clear the air from them. It's so ridiculous! THIS alone is a reason I will never buy another Samsung fridge! 🤬 I thank you for posting the video. I was surprised to see you didn't mention the water supply line at all. I am curious if you did this process without turning it off - and you didn't get a flood? It would really help if you could answer that.

      I hear your pain! Especially if your water valve is behind your fridge :-( I would probably just use some channel locks or pliers and remove it without turning off the water valve. It won't hurt anything. It is just harder to remove that way.
