Best small chipper on the market IMO. Had mine 2 years now and paid for itself many many times over. Done similar mods to you but not lowered the RPM. It's amazing where you can get it, through houses, Over walls etc. Very happy with mine.
Hi. Really useful. Thanks. Would it be any good at shredding wet leaves..? Obviously they would need encouraging down with branch material etc. My brother bought a "leaf shredder" which is completely useless!
No not suitable for that sort of thing, they do make a shredder version of this chipper but honestly your best bet is to use a mulching mower for leaves.
No idea if they've changed the blades. They only blunt quicker if you put dead wood through them, mine have held up fine and they are relatively easy to sharpen as well.
Its very handy for my little business mate, saved me alot of hassle getting rid of waste and easier than transporting around my big chipper for those little ish jobs. The size is the best thing about it, you can take it anywhere. All depends on how easy it is for you to get rid of waste i spose. 👍
@@RJLmachinery cheers, everyone seems to have one and as long as it doesn't die after a couple of jobs it could be handy when like to say the bigger chipper won't get to the area. Thanks 👍
@@martinhicks7833 Cheers, conifer branches and limbs with abit of greenery on are fine but it wont take just the trimmed fresh growth greenery too well if you know what i mean. You would want a shredder for that. 👍
ive got one as I've got limited space as I drive a defender 90, but to be fair there's a hell of a lot of jobs I take it too where if I had a bigger chipper I wouldn't even get it down the side of the house or through the gate, they do punch above their weight as long as you just be sensible in what you shove in them, great little machines though.
Was thinking of getting one for my gardening business but i heard the blades were quite soft and not forged steel and so blunted quickly. Is this the case or do they hold up quite well?
@@mattseymour8637 I think its great, such a handy size, i've got a bigger chipper when needed as well though. It depends on your needs really. I'm glad i've got it though
I’ve had one of these for about 6 years, it’s an amazing machine! The blades don’t last long but they can be turned around. I’ve had blades so old that they have cracked and when I went to change them there was only ½ a blade left! It needs a pushing device, I usually shove a big stick down chute and wheel it, otherwise you are bending over whilst walking. I also cut the OUT chute in ½ as sometimes it blocks up with too much green stuff
Wish i had thought to angle grind the plate in the hopper and moved it to the higher position it might not have got caught on branches as often and bent about as much and eventually broken away! The plate is also made from very thin metal which couldn't have helped it's life span...
Im really surprised what these little things can handle, I removed the outfeed shoot as well because it was getting blocked. I just lean a board on it and the chips are directed down. I was doing a load of old clematis and used a 4by2 to shove it down, a bit like an old mincer
The bracket holding the black rubber strips to stop chippings flying back out kept getting moved backwards and forwards by branches feeding into the chipper so eventually tore off. Also the welding at the bottom of the feeding hopper broke away from the round hinge you put the bolt through to hold the hopper in place. I got it rewelded back together but now the hopper is splitting up from the corners at the bottom of the hopper!! These machines are brilliant for the money, but they are made from thin metal in places. They should up the price a bit and use better quality steel and parts. The blades are really soft, I've own the chipper for 3 or 4 years and I'm on my 8th pair of replacement blades. Even their forged steel blades aren't up to much.
Watch this RUclips video to find out about the forest master blades, he's tested their hardness and explained why they don't last long. Last 5 mins of the video.
My chipper is holding together pretty well, prob cus i modified it from the start. The blades aren't the best but mine seem to hold up better than other peoples judging by some comments. 🤷♂️
I’ve heard that this chipper is superb for its size and value for money, but I’ve also heard the blades which ship with it are too soft and go blunt quickly as a result.
@@RJLmachinery Cheers mate. The chipper just bogs out, took the spark plug off and its black. I cleaned it up with a wire brush it started again for about 5 minutes then bogged out again.
@@RJLmachinery it’s actually a new one mate and only been used a handful of times. I was thinking of cleaning the Carb and changing the spark plug and seeing how it goes
Can’t knock this shredder, blades are a bit on the soft side but it’s so light and just eats branches for breakfast, only other niggle is you need a socket with no leading edge because the bolt heads on the blades are so shallow
My blades have held up fairly well but i try and make sure i dont put any dead wood through them as that's what blunts them up. But yeh they could be abit tougher 👍

Very happy with mine.
Agree with that, being able to pick it up and carry it to awkward places if needed is great 👍
Amazing video!!! Will be taking on your tips. I'm planning to buy this great bit of kit this week for garden clearance next weekend.
Nice one, good luck with it 👍
Thinking of getting one of these
They are pretty handy machines

did they change the blades already, because i read they become blunt very fast ???
No idea if they've changed the blades. They only blunt quicker if you put dead wood through them, mine have held up fine and they are relatively easy to sharpen as well.
what's the height to the top of the shoot feed?
I think its roughly 800mm
Have an electric on of these it’s rubbish does wood fine but any leaves block the exit shut
You need the shredder version for stuff like leaves etc
😊👌@RJLmachinery
These little chippers worth it in your opinion mate? Cheers 👍👍

They are not too bad, but you cant really put dead wood through it as thats what blunts them up
@@RJLmachinery Ok so ok on fresh stuff?
How long do you get out of the blades before they need a sharpen?
@@mattseymour8637 yeh fine on fresh stuff, think i got a good year before i changed blades round (they're reversible)

I'm in two minds whether to get one but do you highly recommend it in general?

Yes they do pack a punch, the little shredder version is probably more suited to that application as it wont block up as much as the chipper version 👍

The blades are fine aslong as you aren't constantly feeding it deadwood/hardwood.
@@RJLmachinery Should be alright for me then, I was only planning on feeding it hedge cuttings.
@@Chicken-x6q6d If thats what you want it for, you are better off looking at the mulching version of this one, not this model.👍
