7 Nights in that paradise? Beautiful Nick and Jill, a fantastic area and place to have as a base, but those views over the mountain ranges are everything. There is everything a couple, a family or a group of friends could need there! Great to see and have a nosey around with you! The town of Potes is very very beautiful¬ Love that they offer free parking, the UK really needs to take note! gosh yes a Santander really surprised us, even though it’s a City it had a very cosmopolitan feel about it, Spain has a few nice Cities, Granada and Segovia being our favourites but I think I’d like to spend a lot more time in Santander. the lady that dealt with us at the car hire desk was lovely, she was from Santander and was so proud, she told us of a dozen things we should do if we visit her City again. The AirBnB was great, we will definitely be back, we need to make an effort to learn more Spanish but the hosts were very lovely and put up with us being typical Brits! Potes is a place I’d love to move to one day, property prices are really cheap and even if we can only reside there 90 days of every 180 (under current post brexit rules) it would be worth it!

absolutely Watto. its just so cheap overseas, we are paying a little more to stay in Italy next week but comparatively we could live over there cheaper than continuing to pay our bills here. the UK is so darn expensive, yes it is beautiful like you showed tonight, but what a cost. we get taxed every way we turn and are expected to pay for everything we do. have an amazing birthday tomorrow pal, very much deserved. sending all our love xx

If you are going to get rain the last day is the day you want it and what an amazing place you had there, you sure stuck gold with it - those views were amazing no matter which window you looked out from. WOW £43 a night is an absolute bargain and puts the Travelodge into context too. Nice to see your videos on safe on the cloud and nice tablet too - does this mean you have navigated to smartphones now too? Yes, I would be staying there again too, no wonder you were sad to go home. Hmmm, how come there are some many free parking there, yet we get our eyes taken out for parking at home.....and free water and toilets too! What a lovely old town and it you want to do a bridge twirl, even in that rain, that looked a perfect bridge to do it on. That beach was another additional find and what a great excuse to come back for another return visit and good to see Marvin back home safely. Shame to be going home in the rain but good that you are taking so many awesome memories back with you as well, cheers Alan
still on the gangsta phone Alan but definitely a LOT closer to making the move to smartphone soon. I do all my editing on the iPad so was able to check via that on holiday re status to cloud. very sad to go home on this occasion. the elevation of the apartment was 1300 foot so the air was beautiful and the bird song was so lovely that was the best week of sleeps I have ever had. not paying for parking all week was very refreshing and a huge saving on what a staycation would cost. we are paying a little more this week to holiday in Lago Di Garda with the Dolomites and Alps as our Italian playground but still way less than a staycation. i liked filming vlog style for this but clearly it didn’t appeal to the wider viewing audience, i will have to come up with a new plan this week! the weather in the UK is truly miserable atm, hope your finding something good to do or eat whilst the weather is so unappealing!
Hi Jill & Nick, what a wonderful Airbnb! A fabulous location with lovely views. Such a great price compared to the Premier Inn Lodge in the Lake District. The upgraded wifi was brilliant. Free parking is always a big plus too. The town was so quaint and picturesque. A lovely place to have a holiday. I’m very anti UK. my plan was to leave if we remained in the Brexit vote and expect things to suddenly get better if we left. well things got worse and now I can’t leave. thats my life! but we do still plan on leaving no matter what. I will not end my days on this miserable isle.

It looks like the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Potes, the Cantabrian region and beautiful mountains. The AirBnB is cozy and functional and extremely good value for what you get. Good internet in BNBs is must nowadays especially when you have families staying and multiple devices to connect. We have Starlink in ours and it is blazing fast and guests really appreciate it too. Looks like a great place to visit and explore👍. Holidays are always too short unfortunately, and all good things must end as they say. On that note, have a great time in Lake Garda and take care.

Looked a fantastic trip and that AirBnb looked superb. I couldn't believe the price! You could pay double that and still be satisfied. I've not stayed in an AirbBnb for a while but should certainly check them out more for my next trip. I too have got some right bargains and friends from staying at them. Pity about the rain on the last day but didn't seem to dampen the explore or make the views any less beautiful. I always thought Santander was a dodgy bank but now I know better 🙂

I loved Potes when we visited several years ago now & was lovely to see some familiar sights but lots more that we obviously didn't discover at the time. I remember it was market day with lots of loose animals ! Santander looked great too with a lovely playa 😎 Lots more to discover and brill to finish your stay wanting to go back ... It felt quite nostalgic seeing all the clips at the end almost like we'd been there with you. Dont t tell everyone what amazing places there are haha secret Spain is amazing. thank you Christine, just sat on our lake view balcony at Lago Del Garda looking at some very impressive mountains. forecast Lightning and heavy thunderstorms from lunch through till the end of tomorrow but it won’t deter us from having a drive and exploring the Lake. Potes is a place I’d love to call home even if it’s for only half the year under current guidelines, hopefully we will at least make that happen! we will definitely return to that Airbnb again although we are keenly looking at South Tyrol and Somiedo for our next adventurous hols. hope your having an amazing week and look forward to seeing you soon x

Great review of this fabulous place, the views from the terrace where you stayed are beautiful and I especially loved the view from your bedroom. Its no wonder people go abroad for holidays with prices so expensive in the UK, this price here was sooo good for the night in comparison to what you compared it with over here. We love quiet mountainous places with amazing views and church bells ringing 😃 Potes is so pretty being an outdoorsy sort of place, gorgeous Medieval bridge and so nice near the beach. What incredible value that gorgeous place is! I have just returned from my own holiday spending time travelling around Yorkshire and walking in the Lakes (hence lack of engagement with the last couple of videos, I'm just catching up) and they were charging more than that a night on some campsites in the Lakes for a van pitch. Crazy really. My great uncle and his wife moved to Spain in their retirement and spent some wonderful years there and I was lucky enough to visit them for my holidays, it was never fun getting back on the plane!

Shame that you had rain on your last day, but the house and location are still stunning. The views are just awesome. Oooh a kettle, that's good for your morning cuppa. The price per night is amazing! UK prices are ridiculous and that's just for lower end properties. You had fab WiFi, I usually end up downloading my videos onto 2 separate portable hard drives, which of course adds to the weight of my luggage! Wow Potes and the area is great for free parking, that wouldn’t be the case in the UK Lakes!
Thats a great tip re the hard drives, it’s such a worry when you can’t backup your daily films to the cloud, I’ve had a few holidays where I’m praying nothing happens to the SD cards before I return home! the Lake District is so expensive now although last time we went to Windermere there was a road you could park on for 3 hours that runs alongside the Pitch and Putt green. gosh I’m missing Windermere again now, thanks Nettie, I better get saving!

its such a shame that prices in the UK are so expensive, we used to regularly go away for a few nights here and there throughout the year in the UK but since covid the prices have increased way out of proportion. this is the first year we haven’t been away in the UK at all, i just can’t justify the prices. we want a night in the Lake District on a Monday later in the year and I can’t get a price under £100 for one night!

“Not like editing a boarded up video”, that was supposed to be an inside joke at the return of Boarded Up Series 2 last Friday but after doing all the prep and research I decided to pull it last minute as I dont want an episode of that to be going out while I’m on holiday. Off to Italy this week and my first time in the Brenta Dolomites! Potes is stunning and that whole area is definitely still on the cards for our retirement. With incredible properties from as little as €40K even with the Schengen rules still in force we will enjoy every 90 days of every 180 there. The lady at the car rental desk was from Santander and she had so much local pride, she told us of so many things to see and do on a return visit. On our brief visit the city had a wonderful cosmopolitan feel and to be on that lovely coastline not far from mountains? I’m sold! We are always the first ones on and off planes! I get very annoyed if anyone gets in front of me, to be fair I was upset we were second onto that flight! 😂
It really is amazing you can get an apartment in Spain so cheap. It looked amazing. What you paid is about half what a cheap highway motel is in Oz, and that's being generous. It is stupidly expensive here. I think the cheapest place we've stayed in Europe was Evora in Portugal. Airbnb for about $80 per night, and they gave us a bottle of wine. Stupidly cheap. So many other places across Spain were almost as cheap. Well, they were the cheapest places we've ever stayed until we went to Vietnam. The most expensive place we stayed in was 80 bucks and the cheapest was $25 - for the whole fam with air con and private facilities and a swimming pool. It was nuts. It just makes us hate holidaying in Oz more. 😂 It looks like you two travel light with only carry-on too. 👍👍👍 Great stuff.
wow, it just goes to show you the price differential now. we used to holiday in America a lot but because of their prices, tourism tax and our poor exchange rate we can no longer afford it. we are off to Italy this week and we have a lake side terrace, two bedrooms and it works out about £70 to £80 a night which is still way cheaper than anything in the UK! ive always fancied Vietnam, I had a friend who worked over there for a year and absolutely spoke of it in the very highest regard. I think you’ve helped push that one up our list. hope your having an amazing weekend.
@@GENerationXplorers I will have to start editing my Vietnam videos. I loved it. Great place. Great people. Great food. And so very cheap. Our total spend on accommodation for 28 days for a family of 4 was $1350 - £690.
@@GENerationXplorers Wow, £70 to £80 for lake Garda is only about $150 Oz so still really affordable. You'd be flat out getting a cheap motel at that price here especially in that sort of location.
I can definitely confirm that Travelodge does indeed have really crappy WiFi. 😂 Your AirBnB looks like a great place to stay and Potes looks very photogenic. How much were the flights. Do you leave your car at the airport car park or taxi? Which airport do you usually fly from? Newcastle is getting very expensive to park at the airport.
yeah spot on Andy, the most expensive thing of the holiday was parking at the airport, it cost us £90. i like to park as close to the airport as possible because you can’t rely on public transport in the uk, trains are on strike and taxis might not factor in the time of day. £3 a day now for wifi at Travelodge, its so bad too, we used to pay the £2 and then wait half an hour to send a photo to a family member on it, its taking the absolute pi$$ now. I’m still psyched about seeing new places in the UK but the prices are genuinely pricing me out, im pretty conservative when it comes to money, I compartmentalise every penny in and out, I just cannot justify a day in the UK when so many in EU is so much cheaper. my staycation days are probably over.
@GENerationXplorers We did a summer staycation in Cornwall this year, as you know. We got a great deal on a caravan, but eating out was expensive, then there were three tanks of fuel, etc.

exactly Ms Kayak, it really did have that homely friends place vibe. we felt very at ease there and were sad to leave. we will venture back that way one day im sure! so refreshing to see a town with all shops open and geared to the local area, we really miss that now in the UK! hope your having an amazing weekend.
7 Nights in that paradise? Beautiful Nick and Jill, a fantastic area and place to have as a base, but those views over the mountain ranges are everything. There is everything a couple, a family or a group of friends could need there! Great to see and have a nosey around with you! The town of Potes is very very beautiful¬ Love that they offer free parking, the UK really needs to take note! Really liked the bridge ( and of course the Bridge twirl Jilly! ) beautiful all around and you guys both did a fantastic job in showing of Potes, I'd like to visit there for sure! Great to hear you're returning back to Santander! Thank you both! xx
gosh yes a Santander really surprised us, even though it’s a City it had a very cosmopolitan feel about it, Spain has a few nice Cities, Granada and Segovia being our favourites but I think I’d like to spend a lot more time in Santander. the lady that dealt with us at the car hire desk was lovely, she was from Santander and was so proud, she told us of a dozen things we should do if we visit her City again. The AirBnB was great, we will definitely be back, we need to make an effort to learn more Spanish but the hosts were very lovely and put up with us being typical Brits! Potes is a place I’d love to move to one day, property prices are really cheap and even if we can only reside there 90 days of every 180 (under current post brexit rules) it would be worth it!

absolutely Watto. its just so cheap overseas, we are paying a little more to stay in Italy next week but comparatively we could live over there cheaper than continuing to pay our bills here. the UK is so darn expensive, yes it is beautiful like you showed tonight, but what a cost. we get taxed every way we turn and are expected to pay for everything we do. have an amazing birthday tomorrow pal, very much deserved. sending all our love xx

If you are going to get rain the last day is the day you want it and what an amazing place you had there, you sure stuck gold with it - those views were amazing no matter which window you looked out from. WOW £43 a night is an absolute bargain and puts the Travelodge into context too. Nice to see your videos on safe on the cloud and nice tablet too - does this mean you have navigated to smartphones now too? Yes, I would be staying there again too, no wonder you were sad to go home. Hmmm, how come there are some many free parking there, yet we get our eyes taken out for parking at home.....and free water and toilets too! What a lovely old town and it you want to do a bridge twirl, even in that rain, that looked a perfect bridge to do it on. That beach was another additional find and what a great excuse to come back for another return visit and good to see Marvin back home safely. Shame to be going home in the rain but good that you are taking so many awesome memories back with you as well, cheers Alan
still on the gangsta phone Alan but definitely a LOT closer to making the move to smartphone soon. I do all my editing on the iPad so was able to check via that on holiday re status to cloud. very sad to go home on this occasion. the elevation of the apartment was 1300 foot so the air was beautiful and the bird song was so lovely that was the best week of sleeps I have ever had. not paying for parking all week was very refreshing and a huge saving on what a staycation would cost. we are paying a little more this week to holiday in Lago Di Garda with the Dolomites and Alps as our Italian playground but still way less than a staycation. i liked filming vlog style for this but clearly it didn’t appeal to the wider viewing audience, i will have to come up with a new plan this week! the weather in the UK is truly miserable atm, hope your finding something good to do or eat whilst the weather is so unappealing!
Hi Jill & Nick, what a wonderful Airbnb! A fabulous location with lovely views. Such a great price compared to the Premier Inn Lodge in the Lake District. The upgraded wifi was brilliant. Free parking is always a big plus too. The town was so quaint and picturesque. A lovely place to have a holiday. You guys need to send your video to the Northern Spain Tourist Broad! 👍😀 Loved the clips at the end. Have a brilliant weekend! ❤

I’m very anti UK. my plan was to leave if we remained in the Brexit vote and expect things to suddenly get better if we left. well things got worse and now I can’t leave. thats my life! but we do still plan on leaving no matter what. It looks like the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Potes, the Cantabrian region and beautiful mountains. The AirBnB is cozy and functional and extremely good value for what you get. Good internet in BNBs is must nowadays especially when you have families staying and multiple devices to connect. We have Starlink in ours and it is blazing fast and guests really appreciate it too. Looks like a great place to visit and explore👍. Holidays are always too short unfortunately, and all good things must end as they say. On that note, have a great time in Lake Garda and take care.

Looked a fantastic trip and that AirBnb looked superb. I couldn't believe the price! You could pay double that and still be satisfied. I've not stayed in an AirbBnb for a while but should certainly check them out more for my next trip. I too have got some right bargains and friends from staying at them. Pity about the rain on the last day but didn't seem to dampen the explore or make the views any less beautiful. I always thought Santander was a dodgy bank but now I know better 🙂

What a wonderful find that accommodation was .. I'd be keeping it secret so it was free next time haha Amazing price, but the views were awesome. I loved Potes when we visited several years ago now & was lovely to see some familiar sights but lots more that we obviously didn't discover at the time. I remember it was market day with lots of loose animals ! Santander looked great too with a lovely playa 😎 Lots more to discover and brill to finish your stay wanting to go back ... It felt quite nostalgic seeing all the clips at the end almost like we'd been there with you. Dont t tell everyone what amazing places there are haha secret Spain is amazing. Still looking forward to seeing pics of your next trip though... have a fab time 😎😙xx
thank you Christine, just sat on our lake view balcony at Lago Del Garda looking at some very impressive mountains. forecast Lightning and heavy thunderstorms from lunch through till the end of tomorrow but it won’t deter us from having a drive and exploring the Lake. Potes is a place I’d love to call home even if it’s for only half the year under current guidelines, hopefully we will at least make that happen! we will definitely return to that Airbnb again although we are keenly looking at South Tyrol and Somiedo for our next adventurous hols. hope your having an amazing week and look forward to seeing you soon x

Great review of this fabulous place, the views from the terrace where you stayed are beautiful and I especially loved the view from your bedroom. Its no wonder people go abroad for holidays with prices so expensive in the UK, this price here was sooo good for the night in comparison to what you compared it with over here. We love quiet mountainous places with amazing views and church bells ringing 😃 Potes is so pretty being an outdoorsy sort of place, gorgeous Medieval bridge and so nice near the beach. Your compilation near the end showed it all off so well. Aww I loved that goat :) ~ Anna ❤👍

What incredible value that gorgeous place is! I have just returned from my own holiday spending time travelling around Yorkshire and walking in the Lakes (hence lack of engagement with the last couple of videos, I'm just catching up) and they were charging more than that a night on some campsites in the Lakes for a van pitch. Crazy really. My great uncle and his wife moved to Spain in their retirement and spent some wonderful years there and I was lucky enough to visit them for my holidays, it was never fun getting back on the plane!
We would love to retire there but it all depends on the Schengen rule so maybe spending half our year there! hope you are having a great weekend x❤️

Shame that you had rain on your last day, but the house and location are still stunning. The views are just awesome. Oooh a kettle, that's good for your morning cuppa. The price per night is amazing! UK prices are ridiculous and that's just for lower end properties. You had fab WiFi, I usually end up downloading my videos onto 2 separate portable hard drives, which of course adds to the weight of my luggage! Wow Potes and the area is great for free parking, that wouldn’t be the case in the UK Lakes!
Thats a great tip re the hard drives, it’s such a worry when you can’t backup your daily films to the cloud, I’ve had a few holidays where I’m praying nothing happens to the SD cards before I return home! the Lake District is so expensive now although last time we went to Windermere there was a road you could park on for 3 hours that runs alongside the Pitch and Putt green. gosh I’m missing Windermere again now, thanks Nettie, I better get saving!

its such a shame that prices in the UK are so expensive, we used to regularly go away for a few nights here and there throughout the year in the UK but since covid the prices have increased way out of proportion. this is the first year we haven’t been away in the UK at all, i just can’t justify the prices. we want a night in the Lake District on a Monday later in the year and I can’t get a price under £100 for one night!

“Not like editing a boarded up video”, that was supposed to be an inside joke at the return of Boarded Up Series 2 last Friday but after doing all the prep and research I decided to pull it last minute as I dont want an episode of that to be going out while I’m on holiday. Off to Italy this week and my first time in the Brenta Dolomites! Potes is stunning and that whole area is definitely still on the cards for our retirement. With incredible properties from as little as €40K even with the Schengen rules still in force we will enjoy every 90 days of every 180 there. The lady at the car rental desk was from Santander and she had so much local pride, she told us of so many things to see and do on a return visit. On our brief visit the city had a wonderful cosmopolitan feel and to be on that lovely coastline not far from mountains? I’m sold! We are always the first ones on and off planes! I get very annoyed if anyone gets in front of me, to be fair I was upset we were second onto that flight! 😂

It really is amazing you can get an apartment in Spain so cheap. It looked amazing. What you paid is about half what a cheap highway motel is in Oz, and that's being generous. It is stupidly expensive here. I think the cheapest place we've stayed in Europe was Evora in Portugal. Airbnb for about $80 per night, and they gave us a bottle of wine. Stupidly cheap. So many other places across Spain were almost as cheap. Well, they were the cheapest places we've ever stayed until we went to Vietnam. The most expensive place we stayed in was 80 bucks and the cheapest was $25 - for the whole fam with air con and private facilities and a swimming pool. It was nuts. It just makes us hate holidaying in Oz more. 😂

wow, it just goes to show you the price differential now. we used to holiday in America a lot but because of their prices, tourism tax and our poor exchange rate we can no longer afford it. we are off to Italy this week and we have a lake side terrace, two bedrooms and it works out about £70 to £80 a night which is still way cheaper than anything in the UK! ive always fancied Vietnam, I had a friend who worked over there for a year and absolutely spoke of it in the very highest regard. I think you’ve helped push that one up our list. hope your having an amazing weekend.
@@GENerationXplorers I will have to start editing my Vietnam videos. I loved it. Great place. Great people. Great food. And so very cheap. Our total spend on accommodation for 28 days for a family of 4 was $1350 - £690.
@@GENerationXplorers Wow, £70 to £80 for lake Garda is only about $150 Oz so still really affordable. You'd be flat out getting a cheap motel at that price here especially in that sort of location.

How much were the flights. Do you leave your car at the airport car park or taxi? Which airport do you usually fly from? Newcastle is getting very expensive to park at the airport.
yeah spot on Andy, the most expensive thing of the holiday was parking at the airport, it cost us £90. i like to park as close to the airport as possible because you can’t rely on public transport in the uk, trains are on strike and taxis might not factor in the time of day.
£3 a day now for wifi at Travelodge, its so bad too, we used to pay the £2 and then wait half an hour to send a photo to a family member on it, its taking the absolute pi$$ now.
I’m still psyched about seeing new places in the UK but the prices are genuinely pricing me out, im pretty conservative when it comes to money, I compartmentalise every penny in and out, I just cannot justify a day in the UK when so many in EU is so much cheaper. my staycation days are probably over.
@GENerationXplorers We did a summer staycation in Cornwall this year, as you know. We got a great deal on a caravan, but eating out was expensive, then there were three tanks of fuel, etc.
@OutandaboutwithAndy it’s such a same isnt it?I probably come across as a right dick, its NOT that I don’t want to visit these place but the price differential gets crazier each year. It’s so so cheap to vacation on the continent, i just can’t justify it anymore. Travelodge prices, additional wifi, parking, toilets, just one day in the UK could fund me like a Kimg on the continent

I’m sure they do! I’m not a fan of cities but this was cosmopolitan in every best sense of the word. its on our list for a few days stay.
