  • This is the summary of the back story for the song Life...
The real story behind Life lyrics was inspired by the time when mayu was still in LIPSTICK. What triggered the emotional and uplifting spirits of the song was because of her 'failure', well not actually failure because in competition, not everyone can be crowned as a winner, but you get the idea.
If you remember from the NEMOPHILA Band Members' Connections Before MAYU SESSION (Part 1), Murata Tamu first appearance in NAONのYAON was in 2015 when her band SORAMIMI crowned as the Grand Prix Champion in Cute Girls Live ~ Road to NAONのYAON; and secured an opening act for NAONのYAON 2015.
The story was, LIPSTICK too had took part in Cute Girls Live ~ Road to NAONのYAON but they didn't make it. mayu was so upset because NAONのYAON stage Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall is one of her dream stage. However, the legendary Keiko Terada did notice her potential and gave her words of encouragement. From that day, she aimed to get on Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall one day and as a way of raising her fighting spirit (and anyone else who had been in the same situation), she wrote Life. These lines proved her determination...
All the wishes made upon a star
    No one ever answered them
I'm only here now because kept on stubbornly blooming
Standing tall even in the downpours
    If you keep on fighting
Your dream will become a wall you can scale
...from the lyrics of "Life" by mayu, NEMOPHILA
She did manage to get on Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall and perform the song Life on that stage. Apparently, Life is also Keiko's favourite song by NEMOPHILA.
    -----
All the wishes made upon a star
[ Todos los deseos pedidos a una estrella ]
    No one ever answered them
[ Nadie nunca los respondió ]
I'm only here now because kept on stubbornly blooming
[ Solo estoy aquí ahora porque seguí floreciendo obstinadamente ]
Standing tall even in the downpours
[ Manteniéndose firme incluso en los aguaceros ]
    If you keep on fighting
[ Si tu sigues luchando ]
Your dream will become a wall you can scale

Nicely done. At the beginning, Haraguchi-san says "time" not "society" ("In these rapidly changing times . . ."). True, "Life" has become their signature song, often played at the end of their shows. I saw the show with the band Loudness at Zepp Osaka live, and I don't remember Loudness referred to as the "opening act". It would be better to call it a "twin billing" or "double billing". In Japan multiple-band events are often called 対バン ("taiban"), which is how Nemophila referred to its shows last year with Loudness, Rottengraffty, Kishidan, et al. Originally the term meant "battle of the bands", but these days it simply means a show with multiple bands on the bill. Also the words "two-man", "three-man" etc., are used, just as "one-man" means only one band on the bill. In Japanese society social relations are far more strictly ordered vertically than in Western society, and a junior band like Nemophila would not call a senior band like Loudness an "opening act".

Thank you for the feedback. We will refrain from using the term opening acts when referring to Zepp Tour from now on, and in general will be more careful of using the term.

@@blackucing Lol at myself. I should have said "double bill" rather than "double billing". Double billing is an illegal financial practice. As for "opening act", it's best to use the term that the band itself uses. In Japanese usage "OA" means opening act, and if the band uses OA then it's okay.

First of all - I am so glad to see you back producing videos - it has been a while since I saw your first ones on Nemophila and Murata Tamu. Secondly, your research is amazing - you have gone through a litany of sources to put together a cogent history. For those of us that don't speak (or read) Japanese, the research you have done is so helpful. For me, I might as well be looking at ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Thirdly, and finally - your editing is sooooo good. From your comments, I can see that you wish it was better, but from the perspective of someone who watches a lot of these types of productions, I can see that the amount of time and effort that you put into these is extraordinary. And for that, I greatly appreciate you, and what you do for those of us that love this band. So, thank you - I want you to know that I truly deeply appreciate what you are doing. 💜💜💜

Glad you like it so far and yes we wish we could have done better but when we have a series line up and all parts are finished, we might review all the clips again and tidy up certain areas to make one full length video of all the episodes in one video.. maybe.

I love this kind of video about the facts and only the facts. Some fans tend to "enhance" a story, sometimes with a lot of imagination and fantasy.

About two years ago I read a comment saying Mayu had been studying law for seven years in the US. Then I read an interview with her talking about their first upcoming US tour and she said she had never been there before.
Bro enhanced her background big time apparently.

Thank you for clearing a few things up. I especially liked the English translation of Haraguchi-san. Would really like to see footage of the lead-up speeches to the "Tamu" performance of "Life." Maybe one day Nemophila will release it on Blu-Ray. Would be so good.
