One of the most iconic trucks of the late 20th century.
Now, this is an original and special kit for real (regardless the PLAYBOY magazine XD). EXCELLENT!
Just the truck itself is a work of art. To me, that would be enough to have work and fun for some time. The truck alone is indeed interesting, and one of the features that have caught my attention were the rear lights.
It looks quite easy to build, save for the whole chassis set. That is precisely what takes me aback from trying vehicles, even though there are a few waiting for their turn (like a 1/35th Land Rover).
VERY WELL DONE!
Now that kit doesn´t look too bad for a Heller kit! Well done Rob, i love it and you did the Swedish pride justice there :) Volvo and Scania trucks are a very common sight and occasionally i spot a truck with a Swedish licence plate in this area. Very rare though, we mostly see German and Eastern European ones. I never get my head around the Maltese ones though, thats a crazy tour.
It is a Heller 'BobCat' kit, which is their snap together range.. :) Built accurately the wheels can move, the front wheels can be angled and the container can be opened, so you can display cargo inside, if you wish.. obviously I could have done a bit more detailing but that was never my intention, not this time anyway. I may well build another one in the future, you have an option of 3 different versions, with timber cargo and a covered trailer, I think. I wish I had shown the decal sheet now, you got decals for license plates covering most European nations, including Germany, the UK, France, Italy.. well, almost all nations and Sweden as well, of'course. The new style boxes from Heller have the same old plastic in them most of the time, but the assembly instructions are updated, modern and in colour and the decal sheets are flawless. No more pale and missprinted Heller decals, which always used to be a sore point with that brand.. Hooray!! :)
Looks great
Thank you very much.. :)
Ive been building one of these. The trailer is old Esci molds.
Im going to have a go at weathering the container and trailer first.
Used to see these trailers about alot round here so the model brings back memorys.
Ive bought the covered trailer one too and want the Timber one (with the day cab roof)
Hey great build and for a heller kit great detail the heller kits do great molds but the suspension/chassis work needs to be big time updated there like the airfix caliper wheel mount which personally I think are s##t but if they upgraded chassis and wheels hub mounts be great kits know wit a male or female fitment be tops i love as i said there body molds an seats inal but chassis and wheel hubs come on 2020 its not early 90s anymore but i can tell u mate u done a superb build of this kit well done im new to building still learning just over 1yr and half i decided to start building off camera to get a little know how and no warent very good but was and still learnerbi rush most stuff which is my down fall but im getting there so u keep up amazing building and u got urself a new sub 👍👍keith
Good work on this Volvo truck. It turned out very well and has some nice details.
So successful work with an good result, Rob.
Have a nice weekend. Greetings, Joachim
Thank you.. I enjoyed building something a bit different from what I normally do, it was good fun! :)
Nice to have a regular pace with videos from you again, I thoroughly enjoy that!
This makes me feel, for the first time, that I should have been a part of a group build. I have never done that... National pride seems important now in a way that haven't been politically correct in Sweden for many years. This truly is a hobby that separates politics from real life in a way that makes me happy. I love this supportive community.
A nice build, once again, and thank you for the inspiration Rob!
Hälsningar från Mörarp!
Well, I'm not a nationalist as such, but Sweden has plenty of things that are good and in many fields, civilian and military.. so why not take some pride in that, indeed!! :) I see modelling as very politically neutral, people may have different views on things in life, but the passion for the hobby is something we can share.. :) Then you can agree or disagree within the hobby as well, but that is a different story.. ;) I found some Moose Republic decals for the Hkp 3 on the Hannants website, it includes two rescue helicopters from F10, including 10-94, which I believe is the one on display at the F10 Museum. Now I just need to get my hand on a correct kit for that particular version.. I have a feeling it is the version with the shorter tail boom.
@@BasicModelling well, nationalist might be the wrong word, I'm not sure... But a celebratory love of nationalities without the political BS is more what I'm geting at. But having built several airplanes from the swedish service I felt a sudden sence of pride. My latest build mainly I guess, since it is yellow and all. Well, I love this making something out of nothing culture anyway.
The museum in Ängelholm is struggling to survive as we speak and I hope our donations will save them since they don't have any government support. If it opens this summer I can shoot some photos of the hkp if you need something specific.
Take care and stay safe!
@@pkmodeling Oh no... I was wondering how they were managing, not knowing how well those kind of things are supported in Sweden at the moment.. Having said that, I don't know how smaller museums are managing in the UK either, but it would be a minor tragedy if the F10 museum were to close! :( My son and I were supposed to pop over to Sweden in the summer and I would have taken him there, but at the moment any such plans are on hold! I should have some video footage and photos of the museum helicopter somewhere, but a browse through my memory cards last night found nothing.. and my back up memory has stopped working, it is as dead as a Dodo. Not sure if the power cable is damaged, or if it is the unit itself.. don't want to spend money on a new cable if the thing itself is broken..
@@BasicModelling Well, if they open up I will take pictures of it. I am currently trying to recreate the Skyraider that sits in the Arlandasamlingarna in 1/48. Just finished Svedinos Skyraider in 1/72.
Take good care!
Nice looking kit. You did your usual great job of it!!!! I think the Playboy on the bed in the cab was a nice touch.
Thanks... shame it doesn't show up all that well through the windshield, but I guess it is there to show a truckers life is sometimes a lonely one..
Epic build fella. Nicely finished
I thank you very much!
Great video and build. Thanks for sharing.
It is just another basic modelling video.. ;) Thanks for watching!! :)
Great looking model you made!!! I like the color of the blue cab and it does look good!
Thank you.. I originally bought that shade of blue for the old Airfix Volkswagen Beetle kit that I have in my stash somewhere. It looks quite nice on the Volvo truck as well, I agree.. :)
If I got one of those kits I was looking at doing a Right Hand Drive conversion. The F12s did come in Right Hand drive form for countries like the UK which i live in
Interesting subject, build looks great!
Thank you, haven't built any kind of car or vehicle for quite some time, so this was a welcome change from things with wings, for a while.. :)
@@BasicModelling Haha, I know how it feels! Got a Bismarck to have a change from tanks and planes...
Great work , superb Volvo Truck and cargo !🎩👌
Is that the first truck you built? I dont think I've seen a truck by you before.
I love how your paint works make the kit pop. Top job.
Thanks.. it is the first civilian truck, I may have built military trucks before.. but certainly not in this scale.. :)
@@BasicModelling it ended up very nice!
Looks cool another quick question how dd u find it putting it together i mean you can tell differcnes in makes of modes i have don 1 hekler subaru which was fine ive e type jag and a Delahaye 135 too in stash so b4 i buy this eact kit i was wondering was there any complications in the build or was it ok strate forward
Thank you.. I found it was fairly straight forward, I don't remember any major complications. But yes, some model brands are easier than others, to put together, even though ALL brands have both good and bad kits in their range.. :)
Great build Rob, nice work as always!
OMG!!! This is so cool!
Like nice👍
Thank you, most kindly! :)
Eleventh!
Wooooooo hooooooo!! :) Well done, you have just won a week at home.. :)
@@BasicModelling and where is my banana?
