- Review of a kit for a mineral wagon that was originally built for SNCF, the French Railways, but later used by British Railways.
The Parkside kits are excellent value for money, and a way to increase your wagin fleet if you are on a budget. Typically costing half or even less than the equivalent wagon from Hornby or Bachmann, this kit is actually of a type of wagon that isnt available from the RTR manufacturers.
After a pleasant afternoon of modelling, I now have a neat new wagon. See how it goes together.

Most varients of mineral wagon are not really available ready to run, just the base type of each tonnage in a fitted or unfitted variant, but then theres all sorts of modifications to the bodies, brake gear variations thanks to later batches being conversions of other surplus wagon chassis etc
Years worth of fun just in these wagons in terms of researching them and looking to model all the different types you might find in your era.
Thanks for the info!
@@MessingaboutwithModels thanks for promoting something other than ready to run. Hobby needs a lot more of this on youtube to rebalance things and show off that it isn't all about taking things out of a box and complaining about glue marks. That it can be constructive and helpful to building perseverance in young people and building skills in manual dexterity etc etc etc...
These Parkside kits all look very easy to build.
Most of them just fall together, and once youve done one, the following ones are easier, as they all have similar instructions.
Nice to have a different looking wagon. I dont think these are made ready to run are they?
Not as far as I am aware, though having said that, I bet someone will announce some.
