Peterson's always produced great magazines. Some very in depth. Love looking at all of the cars in this vintage mag. Especially the straight axle and custom paint jobs. Now we know where your inspiration for custom painting came from. Thanks for sharing Gary. Be well and enjoy your week.
Great magazine! That Malibu with the raised front end is giving me ideas on how I want to build the AMT 64! It's just too bad they could'nt let loose the money to put all the pics in color. Thanks for the great video!
I've been watching your videos for awhile & just subscribed this Morning . You do amazing work with the custom painting & your model kit building ! Looks like those magazines really fueled your drive to get into custom painting ! I have that same book that you reviewed in this video. It's one of my favorite " old " magazines ! I felt the same way as you did when I would buy & read those magazines in my early Years . Great reminiscing ! 👍
I was born in '56 in Canoga Park, where I lived for 35 years. Lots of truly rad stuff all over the place back then. There used to be a yearly custom car show at Devonshire Downs in North Valley with some jaw dropping paint jobs. Van Nuys Blvd was my street racing stomping grounds. The "One Step Beyond" Shelby GT350 you zinged past near the end in this magazine was for sale in about '74-'75 sitting on a Corvette lot in Canoga Park. I tried to buy it, but could not come up with the $3500 to do so. So I stuck with my '68 GT/CS, which I still have. Still have that magazine and many like it, too. Ah, the old days, the best days.
I once lived in Canoga Park, in the 2000's , drove around in my 67 Buick Rivi, metal flake top, member of the yakety yaks car club, used to hang out at flames drive in, nice to see someone else from canoga park !! thanks !!
Nice video. Even nicer magazine. Wonder if 21 years old guys now will look when they are in their 50s and 60s , at magazines of their EVs, and get the same enjoyment as men do of the cars from that magazine?
Great street machine magazine I used to see that 65 Olds 442 in Riverside Cal. owned by Mike and Karen. Love , I hadn’t thought of it in a while . It was upholstered by Mac’s auto upholstery in Riverside! Great memories Gary have a good week!
What a great video. This was the era of natural aspirated. Mostly 4-speeds, and guys talked about things like "What cam comes on hardest with 4.56:1's." Also the mag wheel section is the only wheels that look righteous on the cars of the '60's. The "trendy" shit of the '80's to modern day makes me sick.
Thanks again-
thanks buddy !
